The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1553

"Glad to hear it," Benny chimed in, stepping aside to reveal the folks standing behind him. "These two are from the DO Group. They're here to chat with you."

Calvin, who'd been comfortably seated in his office, perked up at the mention of the DO Group. He quickly stood and headed towards the door.

"The DO Group?"

He hustled over to greet them, curiosity piqued.

Benny caught sight of Calvin and gave him a friendly nod. "Mr. Calvin, you're here too?"

"Yeah, I'm here to talk to Mr. Zane," Calvin replied, his eyes briefly sizing up the two people behind Benny. He felt a flicker of surprise, puzzled about why the DO Group reps had shown up at the school unannounced.

But Calvin quickly gathered himself, glanced at Zane, and stepped aside. "Come on in, let's have a chat," he said politely to Benny.

Benny nodded in agreement.

They all trooped into the office, with Zane and Calvin bringing up the rear.

"If you want to smooth things over, remember to apologize first," Calvin whispered to Zane as they walked side by side.

Zane, feeling a bit out of sorts, nodded absentmindedly at Calvin's suggestion. "Got it."

Their whispers were barely audible, but J, who was leading the way, cast a glance back at them.

Once inside, Calvin invited J to take a seat and poured him a glass of water, his tone apologetic. "I'm truly sorry, Mr. Monks, for any trouble we caused at the Tech Center. Please accept our apologies."noveldrama

J held the glass without drinking, simply watching Calvin in silence.

Calvin felt a bit uneasy under J's steady gaze, a sense of pressure making him drop his eyes. He nudged Zane beside him, gesturing for him to say something.

By now, Zane had pulled himself together and was ready to apologize, following Calvin's lead. But then Mirabella's words echoed in his mind: 'DO Group won't demand an apology.'

After a moment of hesitation, he looked up at J, realizing they didn't seem to be there to stir up trouble. He steadied himself and asked, "What brings you here, Mr. Monks?"

Calvin gave a loud cough, shooting Zane a warning look.

He couldn't believe Zane was ignoring his advice to start with an apology.

Zane seemed oblivious to Calvin's signals, standing firm and composed.

J set down the water glass, stood up, and turned to face Zane. With genuine sincerity, he nodded, "I apologize for any distress caused to you and your students, Mr. Zane."

This unexpected twist left Zane gobsmacked, and Calvin was just as taken aback.

He'd assumed they were there to raise a fuss, never expecting an apology.

"It was a mix-up on our company's part at the Tech Center. We hope you won't take it to heart, Mr. Zane. Please accept our apologies," J continued.

"No, no, it's alright... Actually, it was our mistake..." Zane stammered, unsure of his own words.

In that moment, he felt like giving himself a reality check, wondering if this was really happening.

"And about the project, we hope you'll consider giving us another shot at working together. I'll handle things personally from now on," J added, pulling a business card from his pocket and handing it to Zane.

Zane took it, slightly dazed, and as he glanced at the details on the card, his fingers trembled ever so slightly.
