Chapter 1498
So when Zane entered the office, Calvin's expression wasn't exactly pleasant. "Zane, you're late. I have to head to the Dean's office soon. I've already scheduled the time."
Zane detected Mr. Calvin's displeasure in his tone and quickly explained, "Sorry, I got held up by a phone call for two minutes."
Calvin pressed his temples and stood up from his chair, deciding not to dwell on the issue of being late any further. "You mentioned something about an authorization document over the phone. What's the situation with that?"
Zane took out the draft authorization contract he had brought with him and handed it to Calvin while explaining, "Our department is likely to take on a new project, related to artificial life systems again, so we need to have an authorization contract signed by the tech institute."
Upon hearing this, Calvin almost immediately grasped Zane's point. He took the authorization contract, glanced at it briefly, and then placed it on the table.
His focus shifted to the new project Zane mentioned, "Where did this new project come from? Is it with the tech institute again?"
"No," Zane shook his head, not concealing any details. "The DO Group approached me, showing interest in the system my student developed."
"DO Group?" Calvin found the name somewhat familiar but couldn't recall what company it was at the moment.
"It's the Dimon Corporation, known as pioneers of the smart era," Zane briefly introduced.
Calvin's face instantly wore a look of disbelief, "How did such an internet company come to collaborate with your department?"
If it were a collaboration project with the computer science department, he would believe it. Zane's department, though related to computational biology and somewhat linked to computing, was not in the same field at all.
Seeing Calvin's expression, as if 'unworthy of collaboration with a big corporation,' Zane felt a bit displeased internally.
However, Zane didn't show it on his face. He straightened his back and said, "Not to mention implanting biological chips in intelligent robots, even implanting chips in humans is a theory that scientists proposed decades ago. So, isn't it normal for the DO Group to seek us out?"
Calvin found himself speechless against Zane's argument and after a while asked, "Since they approached your department, it must be a good thing. How far has it progressed? Why haven't I heard you report this before?"
"It's still in the negotiation phase, so I'll need Mr. Calvin to make a trip to the tech institute to finalize the authorization document. That will allow us to proceed," Zane said calmly.
If it weren't for his lower standing and lack of authority to directly approach the tech institute, he wouldn't want to bother Mr. Calvin.
After all, Calvin had always looked down on their sub-department and there was also the worry that he might obstruct the process.
But since the research project was a major affair for the department, Zane wasn't worried about Calvin causing trouble openly.
Calvin fell silent for a moment, then picked up the authorization contract again and asked, "Is it urgent?"
"If Mr. Calvin has time in the next few days, the sooner, the better," Zane replied.
Before applying for the patent, there was no rush, but now that the patent had been filed, it was best to have the tech institute sign the authorization contract as soon as possible.
Calvin looked at Zane, pondering
something, then said, "Alright, I havenoveldrama
Hank's number from the tech

institute. I'll ask him when he's
available. But you'll need to submit a
detailed plan for the new project
afterward."
What do you think?
