"Mr. Stuart, you're here!" The waiter greeted him with a smile and quickly went to fetch the owner of the store.

The owner's surname was Garrison, a middle-aged man who exuded an air of elegance in his long robe that matched the decor of the store perfectly.

Cooper Garrison came out holding a brocade box and handed it over to Brendon. "Mr. Stuart, this is what you wanted. Take a look."

Brendon opened it and saw a blue-and-white plum vase inside, which he knew was very expensive at first glance.

"What do you think?" Brendon handed it to Ranita, who didn't know much about antiques but could only smile and say, "It looks like an independent beauty from another world. I can't say much more."

Cooper chuckled and gave Ranita a thumbs up. "Mrs. Stuart, your metaphor is perfect!"

Brendon seemed satisfied with the purchase as he put away the box for Cooper to wrap up.

Ranita glanced at the credit card bill. It had seven digits... it was indeed very expensive! But considering that they were giving this gift to the Old Mr. Webster, they couldn't be too stingy.

Gifts among wealthy people were always reciprocal: if you gave someone an seven-digit vase today, they might give you something worth eight digits tomorrow - as long as one didn't lose out in any way.

In any case, Ranita couldn't afford an seven-digit vase but she did find something within her budget - a set of calligraphy brushes inkstone, which represented her sincerity well enough. She asked Cooper to wrap them up too.

"I'll..." Brendon handed over his credit card but Ranita stopped him, "It's my gift for the Old Mr. Webster. Let me pay."

"What difference does it make between us?" Brendon insisted.

Cooper took the bank card tactfully, and after swiping it said with a grin, "Mrs. Stuart, you should always let men pay when outside!"

After exchanging pleasantries, Brendon took Ranita home. But just when they got downstairs, surprisingly Chris appeared!

"Brendon, I want to talk to Ranita about something important. Is that okay?" Chris happened upon them by chance on his way somewhere else. Brenden wasn't pleased, "Can't you say whatever needs saying in front of me?"

Chris couldn't help laughing at how jealous Brendon sounded before replying, "It really is quite important. Ranita, may I have word with you privately?"

Ranita nodded, and followed Chris some distance away. She asked him curiously, "Why did you suddenly ask for me? Is there anything important going on?"

"Didn't you ask me to keep an eye out for a sapphire necklace before? My friend happens to have one and is willing to sell it," said Chris.

Ranita's face lit up at the news. "Really? Can you take me to see it?"

"I just wanted to ask when you're free. I want to invite you over to her place so we can check it out together. If you like it, we can buy it from her. If not, I'll help you find something else."

Chris was reliable in his actions! Ranita nodded and asked with a smile, "Okay! When should we go?"

"Do you have time tonight?"

"Tonight?" Ranita looked at Brendon and hesitated before asking, "Tonight might not work. Can we do tomorrow instead?"

"She only has time tomorrow afternoon for lunch if that works for us."

The person who could sell an expensive sapphire necklace probably came from a wealthy family with many things going on; they couldn't keep them waiting forever.

"Alright then, let's meet tomorrow at noon," said Ranita after pausing briefly before adding another smile. "Thank you. Mr. Webster." Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

"Don't mention it!" Chris noticed that Ranita seemed much happier today as he added with concern, "You look better now. Take care of yourself."
