Chapter 235 Carry Her on My Back

"It's really beautiful," Brendon said, admiring the gift of nature.

Some lost fireflies flew around them, moving like a galaxy. Although they were beautiful, they still had to hurry on their way.

The car started and drove towards the bustling city on the rugged mountain road. Ranita was held in Brendon's arms as he stroked her slender back and comforted her in a low voice, "Don't be afraid, everything is fine now. Just sleep for a while."

Brendon's embrace was warm and comforting. Ranita greedily snuggled into his arms, feeling both sour and sweet inside.

Did his willingness to travel all this way to save her mean that he still had some feelings for her? The bittersweet feeling mixed together made her heart ache.

Feeling safe with Brendon, Ranita quickly fell asleep. After landing in Kurima by plane, she went directly to Tranquil Valley Private Hospital.

Brendon was not happy about Steve meddling in their affairs.

"Steve, don't you have anything better to do? Why don't you go take care of other patients?"

"Ranita is my patient too! Isn't it normal for me to take care of her?" Steve pushed past Brendon and took Ranita into the examination room.

After sleeping for a while at the hospital, Ranita looked much better. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

"Thank you Dr. Pearson."

"Don't mention it!" Steve paused before asking, "Are you really not going to tell him?"

Ranita felt uneasy when she heard this question from Steve.

"That night you went missing, Brendon had a fight with Dylan. He thought Dylan had hidden you!"

Her heart raced as she realized what Steve wanted to say next.

Steve pushed up his glasses, his charming eyes fixed on her. His voice took on a touch of melancholy, "Then, in the middle of the night, he searched for you."

"In that case... he actually cares about you."

Did Brendon care about her? She couldn't tell if it was just spousal love or simply out of responsibility towards her.

"I'll think about it," she replied hesitantly.

"Well then I won't push you any further," said Steve gently before adding, "Here are your prenatal check-up reports. Your baby is doing great."

"You should rest here at least two days," he advised kindly after showing Ranita that everything looked good with regards to the baby inside of her belly according to the report from her check-up.

Ranita's mood lifted, as if she had suddenly eaten a piece of candy, and her heart was sweetened.

As they left the inspection room, Brendon immediately ran over and asked, "How are you? Are you okay?"

Steve stood with his hands behind his back and spoke in a cold tone. "Just rest for a few days according to the doctor's orders." He handed the examination report to Brendon and continued. "You've been running around these past few days. You need to rest too."

Brendon glanced at Steve from the corner of his eye. "I took care of her!"

Pushing Ranita towards her hospital room, Brendon closed the door with a click and grumbled, "I told you to stay away from Steve! Why don't you listen?"

"Dr. Pearson is really nice!" Ranita leaned against the bed frame and tried to stand up but Brendon bent down quickly and lifted her onto the bed.

"Rest for a while," he said softly before lying down next to her.

"What are you doing?" The hospital bed wasn't very big. There was still plenty of space even after Ranita lay down on it because she was so slender. But adding Brendon made it feel cramped.

"I'm tired," he muttered in a low voice as he turned on his side with an arm draped over her waist.

Ranita looked up at him; she saw stubble on his cold jawline which softened her heart completely. She raised an arm slowly then wrapped it around him tightly before snuggling into his embrace willingly.
