With Allen in the hospital, the project had been delayed and several other corporations were eyeing it up besides Stuart's Corp. After successfully negotiating with Nemotube for the Swansea Bay project, Brendon felt like victory was within reach but now everything had fallen apart.

Brendon wasn't feeling good about any of this.

"You're so kind," Brendon said coldly to Ranita. His expression remained blank but he knew he couldn't take out his anger on her. Even though she had signed a contract with Stuart's Corp, she was only an external employee and could only be considered half of his staff.

"What trouble have you encountered?" Ranita asked casually. As a former housewife who used to take care of him at home, she would occasionally show some concern for him.

Sometimes Brendon would answer her questions but most of the time he would just brush them off since there were always important company matters that needed his attention.

As usual, Ranita didn't expect him to answer but this time Brendon explained, "Allen went street racing in Qaesburg and ended up in the hospital. The Swansea Bay project has been delayed by several days because of it."

Ranita knew a little bit about Allen as well - he was Brendon's uncle's son who was younger than him by a few years and always loved going out partying since childhood due to being born into wealth without any aspirations or goals for himself.

He was famous for his nightlife after all in Kurima...

When Ranita married into the Stuart family, Allen was placed under Brendon's supervision. Brendon didn't treat Allen with brotherly affection and sent him to work in Gaso, where the conditions were much harsher than in Kurima, and without the company of friends. Over time, Allen settled down and began working diligently.

In these past two years, he showed excellent performance and voluntarily offered to manage the Swansea Bay project in Qaesburg, a proposal that Brendon accepted. However, things took an unexpected turn.

Ranita didn't know what else to say so she spoke softly after some thought, "Allen has become more mature these past two years. I don't think it was intentional."

"You're still speaking up for him!" Brendon tugged at his collar again, revealing more of his neck.

Ranita suddenly remembered something and asked, "Is your back better? Did you put any ointment on it when you came back?"

"No one helped," Brendon replied casually. Then he took the documents, lowered his head, and asked, "Has that old man Rashid contacted you again?"

Ranita's heart skipped a beat at the first half of his sentence. This guy was with Shannon every day, how could he not have any help? Ranita didn't believe him! He was such a liar!

"Mr. Bassett is only in his forties, technically still a handsome man!" Ranita paused and continued, "Mr. Stuart, I have something to do tonight so I must take my leave!"

Chris had booked a private chef restaurant.

She parked her car and saw Steve and Chris getting out together. They both smiled at her; one was cool and collected while the other exuded an air of sophistication that made even the moonlight pale in comparison.

"Dr. Pearson, Mr. Webster, what a coincidence!"

"Luckily we arrived just in time or else it wouldn't be good to keep you waiting," Chris said as he led them forward.

Ranita trailed behind them when Steve quietly asked her, "Will you still get cramps these days?"

Ranita shook her head, "No more!"

"That's good... oh by the way here's this for you..." Steve handed her a bottle of lemon candy, "You like these right?"

Ranita did like them very much and so did the little thing inside of her belly.

She accepted it just as Chris turned around curiously asking, "What are you guys talking about? Are you leaving me out?"
