The Day Our Promise Breaks

Chapter 368

She had never mentioned this to him, so how did he find out? Just how much did he know? As Dahlia was lost in thought, another message popped up.

Wesley: [Dahlia, I understand you've moved on. I'm not asking you to come back to me, I just want Sandy.]

[Give me some money, let me take Sandy away from New York, and I swear, you'll never see me in your or Charles's life again.]

[Everything I know will stay with me; I won't breathe a word to anyone.]

Wesley's words were sincere; he truly loved Dahlia. Even though Dahlia had changed, he couldn't deny his feelings. Despite the heartache, she was the only woman he had ever truly loved. She had been by his side since she was eighteen, and she had given him Sandy. These reasons alone made it impossible for him to join forces with Evelyn against Dahlia. So, after mulling it over, he decided to talk terms with Dahlia first.

Dahlia read Wesley's messages, a smirk playing on her lips. Hand Sandy over to him? No way! She might not be fond of her daughter Sandy, but the girl had her uses. Winning Charles's favor-that was Sandy's biggest asset. As long as Charles was fond of her, Sandy had to stay close.

Knowing Wesley had something on her, Dahlia couldn't afford to treat himnoveldrama

carelessly like she did before. The fact that he was taken by Evelyn and still chose to negotiate with her showed that he still cared about their past. Dahlia didn't outright refuse Wesley; instead, she played for time.

She replied, "Give me a bit, I'll talk to Sandy and get her to agree to go with you. She listens to me. If she asks to go with you, Charles won't object."

"Alright."

Wesley agreed. If Sandy willingly chose to live with him, it would be the best outcome. He always believed in the power of family ties. Just like his love for Sandy, he was sure that if she spent time with him, she'd grow to like him as her dad.

"Dahlia, don't try to trick me again; this is your last chance. If you pull any stunts, I won't hesitate to bring everything down. Don't blame me for not considering our years together."

He didn't want it to come to that. He had done everything he could for Dahlia.df she didn't value this last opportunity, he would have no choice but to set aside their history for his daughter's sake.

Charles raced to the hospital with Josephine. Andrew, alerted by phone, was already waiting at the entrance. Josephine was rushed into the emergency room.

Thankfully, she was brought back just in time, and her condition hadn't worsened. Andrew let out a sigh of relief.

At first, Josephine was just another patient to him, and the pressure wasn't overwhelming-doing his best was enough. But with Charles's involvement, the surgery had to be flawless. He had to ensure

everything went off without a hitch.

Before he could catch his breath, Josephine, barely awake, tried to get up from

the emergency table. Startled, Andrew hurried over, gently pressing her shoulders back. "Ms. Josephine, you need to rest."

Josephine shook off Andrew's hand with a steely gaze. "I want out."

To her, if Charles could manipulate Eve, then Dr. Nelson was just another one of

his cronies-not to be trusted.

"Ms. Josephine, you can't leave."

Andrew motioned for a nurse to help keep Josephine in bed. She needed to stay put and rest properly.
