"I never thought Wesley would sink so low, throwing any dirt he could to ruin my name."

"Evelyn, is this your twisted way of getting back at me? You hate me, and you're taking it out on Sandy. You can't stand seeing Charles adore Sandy, can't handle her living a good life."

"You want Wesley to smear my reputation so Charles will back off and take Sandy away, right? You're letting her fall into the clutches of a monster, a man with no humanity. What could you possibly be thinking?"noveldrama

"Are you trying to destroy Sandy? She's innocent!"

Dahlia pounced on every chance to pin the blame on Evelyn, trying to shift the heat away from herself.

Evelyn was no longer the naive person she used to be two years ago. Back then, she'd fight tooth and nail to clear her name against Dahlia's slanderous attacks. But now, she just calmly pulled out her phone and played a recording of Delilah speaking.

As Delilah's voice echoed in the room, Dahlia's barrage of accusations came to a screeching halt. Instinctively, Dahlia wanted to grab the phone from Evelyn, terrified that Charles might see it. But as she tried to move, she realized her legs wouldn't cooperate, stopping her from making things worse for herself. Inside, though, she was in full-blown panic mode.

Wesley noticed she wasn't as rattled as she seemed. If she could smooth things over, she would; if not, she'd figure out another way. But Charles was a different story. She genuinely loved Charles and wanted to spend her life with him. She couldn't bear to leave a bad taste in his mouth.

"Charles, it's not what it looks like. I didn't do it, I swear. Evelyn paid Delilah to make me look bad!" Dahlia sat on the couch, looking at Charles

She wanted to reach out, but he was too far. Her tear-filled eyes pleaded with him, her head shaking in denial.

Charles looked at the frail, pitiful Dahlia, but his mind replayed the recording Evelyn had just played of Delilah, Delilah said Dahlia had. called Sandy into her room over and over to mistreat her. Every time Sandy left, she bore bruises and even slap marks.

He knew there were parents out there who were worse than animals. But among those few, Dahlia couldn't possibly be one of them. To him, Dahlia was pure goodness. Even though Sandy's presence was a constant reminder of past trauma, she cherished Sandy like a treasure, loved her fiercely. She even went against her nature to take Charlie's potential kidney donor for Sandy's sake. He found it hard to be too harsh on her because she was a mother who loved Sandy deeply.

But if she had been hurting Sandy all along... then her love was a lie. And the reason she took Charlie's kidney donor...

Charles's gaze turned sharp as he focused on Dahlia. "Charles, you have to trust me, I didn't do it. Evelyn must have paid Delilah-check Delilah's accounts if you don't believe me."

"She despises me, wants to shove Sandy towards Wesley. She knows Sandy means everything to me, and she wants to rip my heart out."

"I love Sandy so much, I could never hurt her..."

As Dahlia continued her performance, Evelyn played another video Delilah had given her, showing Dahlia mistreating Sandy. The video was short, but combined with Delilah's words, it painted a damning picture.
