The Day Our Promise Breaks

Chapter 350

"What do you want me to say? Haven't you already made up your mind about me?" Dahlia confronted Wesley, her eyes red and teary. As soon as the words left her mouth, tears spilled over, tracing paths down her cheeks. She didn't bother defending herself, but her eyes spoke volumes of hurt and disappointment.

Wesley's heart clenched at the sight. Pushed by emotion rather than logic, he reached out, brushing her tears away gently. This simple gesture was all the invitation Dahlia needed. She threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms around his waist, snuggling her face into his chest. She nuzzled him playfully, her lips barely brushing against his stomach in an almost teasing manner.

"Wesley..." Her voice was soft and sweet, her tone that of someone who knew just how much power she held over him. She was well aware of how much Wesley adored her. When she noticed his body tense up, a flicker of satisfaction danced in her eyes. But when she looked up at him, her gaze was pure affection, her eyes sparkling as they locked onto Wesley's.

"I didn't want to give Sandy those sleeping pills, but she relies on me so much. She often wakes up at night and comes looking for me," Dahlia explained, a hint of regret in her voice. "Whenever you're here, we end up staying awake almost till dawn. I only gave Sandy the pills so she could sleep through the night."

"I just didn't want her to walk in on us. How would we explain that to her?" She ended her explanation, her voice tinged with a touch of grievance, quickly adding, "Don't worry, the dose I gave Sandy is safe. She's our little treasure; I could never hurt her."

"The bruises on Sandy, they're not my doing. You can't just dismiss how much I care about you," Dahlia pleaded, her eyes wide and earnest as she gazed at Wesley. Noticing his silence, she let her hand slide down from his waist, hooking her finger playfully around his belt. Her voice turned soft and inviting, "Wesley, let's go back to the room."

In Dahlia's mind, everything was fine with Sandy. Wesley was just temporarily upset. She figured that with a bit of sweet-talking, she could win him over. No matter how much he cared for Sandy, surely he couldn't value her above Dahlia?noveldrama

In Wesley's heart, she believed she held the top spot. She had no doubts about that. Yet, the man who once melted at her slightest touch didn't swoop her up and carry her to the bedroom as she expected. Instead, he gently removed her hand, interlocking their fingers together.

Despite everything, Wesley couldn't bring himself to let go of Dahlia. She was trying so hard to make things right; surely, deep down, she loved him. He resolved to keep a close eye on Sandy, ensuring Dahlia wouldn't mistreat her. He'd protect their daughter.

"Dahlia, come with me and Sandy. Let's put the past behind us and start fresh, the three of us together," Wesley said earnestly. "I promise I'll work hard to provide for you and Sandy. You'll never have to struggle."

Wesley was sincere. He'd thought it all through. While he couldn't offer the same luxuries they currently enjoyed, their love and Sandy's well-being were what truly mattered.

Dahlia was taken aback. Her

immediate thought was, is he out of his mind? Give up being Mrs.

Jenking to live a harder life with e

him? Wesley..." she tried once to sway him, but Wesley didn't her finish. "Dahlia, I truly love you and want us to have a real life together."

"Talk to Charles tomorrow and let me know," he said, cupping her face in his

hands, placing a tender kiss on her slightly parted lips.
