The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 99

Chapter 99

When Cordelia went to see her mom, Trina told her a big news. A few days ago, Shelley's pinky finger

twitched a little.

"Are you for real?" Cordelia was over the moon. After all, her mom had been bedridden for six straight

years, and this was the first sign of movement. "You sure you didn't see things?" Cordelia asked. She

was skeptical and needed a more solid confirmation.

"How could I have gotten it wrong?" Trina replied, "I've been caring for patients for ages, I know the

difference between peripheral nerve death and a reflex." As she spoke, Trina continued to wipe

Shelley's hand.

"Thank you, Trina." Cordelia’s eyes welled up with gratitude. Her faith in her mom's recovery was all

thanks to Trina's care.

"No big deal, it's my job." Trina reassured, gently patting Cordelia's head.

In the afternoon, Cordelia and Brooklyn went to Brooklyn's sister's place in Sunnydale Meadows on Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Peace Avenue, a posh residential area.

The door was opened by Edwin.

"Why are you dressed like that?" Edwin was surprised at Cordelia's student outfit.

Cordelia just laughed it off without answering.

To make Brooklyn shine brighter, Cordelia intentionally downplayed her own appearance today.

Compared to Brooklyn, Cordelia looked plain Jane.

Brooklyn dropped by her future in-laws' place under the pretense of visiting her sister. Edwin's parents

had a good impression of her, which made her quite happy.

Edwin seemed a bit down and didn't talk much.

After leaving Edwin's place, Cordelia and Brooklyn took a stroll around the bright neighborhood.

"To make you shine, I sacrificed my image so you owe me a hundred bucks. Plus, I made you look so

good, that's another hundred." Cordelia felt a bit sour about her sacrificed image.

"Are you trying to rob me? You rich people are such penny pinchers!" Brooklyn knew Cordelia had

made quite a sacrifice, so she agreed to buy her a gift.

"You..." Cordelia teased.

"Cordelia, you already have such a rich husband, do you really care about my money?" Brooklyn

retorted jokingly.

The two girls continued their playful banter and almost bumped into a lady walking her dog.

"I thought I was seeing things. Never thought it would actually be you, Cordelia. What a coincidence

running into you here." Deanna, dressed in casual clothes and walking a husky. She sized up Cordelia,

then chuckled, "No wonder Ronan doesn't like you. Your outfit is a total embarrassment."

Seeing Deanna, Cordelia was taken aback, but Deanna didn't pull any punches.

"So, you live here." Cordelia didn't want to waste words on Deanna.

Smiling, Deanna said, "This house wasn't bought by me. It's... Never mind, it's in his name. Telling you

might upset you since he occasionally stays here."

"So, you're trying to tell me that the house belongs to my husband? We're married, and I have a half

share in his assets. So, Ms. Deanna, you're actually living in my house." Cordelia shot back, "I have

every right to kick you out anytime."

Deanna was so mad she could feel her chest tighten, "How could he like you the way you are?"

"Ms. Deanna, he likes me just the way I am. He didn't fall for you even though you're always dressed to

the nines. Maybe you should do some soul-searching?" Cordelia replied without backing down.

"Oh, by the way, I have something to tell you. Come here." Deanna didn’t continue the topic, she

beckoned Cordelia.

Brooklyn tried to hold Cordelia back, not wanting her to go. But Cordelia knew Deanna’s words must be

related to Ronan. She was curious, so she went over.

"Six years ago, during the early stage of Ronan's business, he got injured on a construction site. Lime

got into his eyes, and he had to have a cornea transplant. He waited in the hospital for a long time. Just

when he was about to lose hope, someone in the hospital passed away and donated their cornea. I

took care of Ronan after the surgery until he was discharged. We started dating afterward. Our

relationship was strong and hard to break. Don't bring this up to him. Ronan hates people talking about

his transplanted cornea. Don't let it slip. If Ronan gets angry, don't say I didn't warn you." Deanna

walked away with her dog after finishing.

Cordelia stood there, dumbfounded. Her mind was completely blank. She never brought it up, because

her father told her not to on his deathbed. She just didn't expect that Ronan would also mind people

bringing it up, just because the cornea wasn't his own.

"Looking at you, I feel sorry for Ronan. What a waste!" Deanna had walked far away, but she turned

back and jeered at Cordelia.
