Chapter 521
Chapter 521
The next day, Cordelia quickly met up with Victoria and hurried back to the school to attend the
assembly. Victoria tagged along for the event as well.
Being a teacher, Cordelia had a seat in the third row. By the time they arrived, most people were
already there. Wary of the risk that someone might recognize Victoria as an outsider, they both kept a
low profile.
A large banner at the front of the auditorium declared, "Welcome Dr. Eason as our Honorary
Professor."
Dr. Eason sat on the stage with an air of humble nobility. His gaze lingered on Cordelia when he
spotted her.
"Wow, Dr. Eason is quite the looker, huh?" Victoria whispered to Cordelia, a playful nudge in her tone.
"He's alright," Cordelia replied without taking her eyes off Dr. Eason.
Dr. Eason was sharing his feelings about becoming an honorary professor and delivering a lecture on
hypnosis to the students.
"Look at you, all eyes and ears. Got a crush, have we?" Victoria teased Cordelia with a chuckle.
"Knock it off. I'll tell you about it later."
"Alright, we'll have a cozy chat in your bed tonight," Victoria said with a mischievous grin.
The assembly lasted for two hours. When they stepped out of the venue, a blanket of snow began to
drop from the sky.
"Look at the snow! Birchwood's weather is just so much better than Millstone's - we haven't had snow
yet this winter." Victoria said, catching snowflakes at the entrance of the auditorium.
"Indeed," Cordelia agreed, her voice tinged with emotion as she watched the snowflakes dance in the
air. Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
Every time it snowed, it reminded Cordelia of Ronan. The way he had arrived that wintry day seemed
etched in her memory. In England, the cold winters felt lonelier without him. Sometimes, the longing for
him was so intense it felt like her heart would break, but then she'd remember his actions and feel a
chill instead.
Lost in thought, Cordelia felt a pang of melancholy. It seemed there was always something about him
that lingered in her memory. Perhaps it was her sentimentality, or she thought of Ronan again, but she
found herself looking back towards the auditorium, scanning the crowd, half-expecting to see if he was
there. She remembered him mentioning once that he wanted to see who would be on equal footing
with him.
Cordelia glanced back but did not see Ronan.
Dr. Eason was engaged in a lively conversation with the school's leaders. He seemed to notice
Cordelia's gaze and nodded at her.
"What are you looking for?" Suddenly, a voice came from behind Cordelia.
She turned around to find Ronan, who had appeared unnoticed.
"Mr. Evans? What brings you here?" Victoria was pleasantly surprised, sensing the joy of encountering
a familiar face in a foreign town.
Ronan might have forgotten his question or might’ve been interrupted by Victoria, so Cordelia didn't
respond.
The three of them walked outside the auditorium.
"Where's Callum?" Cordelia asked Ronan.
"He didn't come with me; he and Janice are dropping off Harold. Let's go see him off."
Victoria was confused by their conversation, not knowing who they were talking about, but she followed
them towards the school entrance. They arrived just as Harold, in full military garb, was saying
goodbye to Janice.
"This guy is drop-dead gorgeous. Is he the one who's been courting you?" Victoria became instantly
infatuated upon seeing Harold, but she whispered in Cordelia's ear, cautious not to be overheard by
Ronan.
"Yeah, you like him? I could introduce him to you."
Victoria pulled Cordelia aside. "Are you out of your mind? You're passing up this handsome hunk for a
middle-aged guy? That middle-aged guy..."
