Chapter 502
Chapter 502
After dinner, Eason intended to drop Cordelia off at her school, but she insisted that as the resident of
Birchwood, it was her duty to escort Eason back to his hotel. Claiming she had overindulged, she
wanted to walk off the meal.
They ambled slowly toward the hotel.
For some reason, Cordelia felt an inexplicable warmth towards Eason, as though he were an old friend.
Eason said to her, "Cordelia, don't take Alana's words to heart. Life's too short to live for anyone but
yourself. If you're going to let Alana's words get you down, what's the point of it all? I think that maybe
you're just disappointed in Ronan, and Alana's just an excuse for you to get out. It's like she's the last
straw that broke the camel's back. And about your mom... try not to be too heartbroken."
Cordelia looked down, then nodded. "Yeah, you always seem to see right through me."
"Do I have a sixth sense or something?" Eason chuckled, patting her shoulder.
"You do, you really do," Cordelia affirmed, looking up at him earnestly.
Eason hugged her closely. "I've got to go now. Take care of yourself."
Cordelia murmured an acknowledgment, comfortable with the intimacy shared with Eason.
"Take a cab, I'll watch until you're gone," Eason told her.
After Cordelia left, Eason returned to the hotel. The lobby was bustling, but the front desk informed him
that someone was waiting for him.
Glancing over, he saw a figure in a dark wool coat standing out among the crowd, exuding an air of
sophisticated elegance. Eason approached.
Earlier, Ronan had witnessed the heartfelt conversation and farewell hug between Eason and Cordelia
at the hotel entrance. He had been smoking, squinting through the smoke.
Ronan had suspected that Cordelia might have arranged to meet with Eason after seeing her
messaging someone on her phone the night before. He had never encountered Eason or heard his
tales, but something about this man set Ronan's nerves on edge.
"Mr. Evans, I've heard a lot about you," Eason extended his hand for a shake. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
"You know me?" Ronan reached out as well, not surprised that Eason knew his name.
"Shall we talk in my room?" Eason suggested.
Ronan followed without question, mirroring Eason's lack of surprise at his visit.
Once inside room 2306, Ronan glanced at the room opposite. The receptionist had mentioned that
Cordelia had stayed there.
Inside, Eason handed Ronan a business card with his contact information in the UK and his name
Eason.
Ronan chuckled at the realization. The man Cordelia had called out for in her dreams was not him but
Eason himself. He had misread the situation completely.
"Mr. Evans, you seem to know everything. Yes, Cordelia did stay in that room across from mine. I came
to discuss her lineage with her," Eason continued as he played a video showing photos of the Keegan
family.
"Why are you showing me this?"
"Don't you know that for years, Cordelia has been threatened by Alana and didn't dare to associate
with you? Alana has a lot of influence, and Cordelia didn't want to endanger you." Eason flipped
through the video as he spoke, "I've been trying to unravel Cordelia's past for her, but every time I get
close to Alana, I hit a wall. It's like there's a giant web trapping everything, and I can't make any
progress."
Ronan squinted at Eason. "You've been looking into this for her? Why?"
