Ronan's Office.

Wyatt knocked on Ronan's office door.

"If you don't hire someone for the Audit Department soon, I'll be up to my neck in trouble. Arguments

like the one with Emerson will keep happening. With all these files piling up, what are we going to do?"

Wyatt wasn't usually an impatient man, but the Audit Department was overwhelmed with work this year.

"I'll make a call to HR Department, and if there are suitable candidates, you can interview them

directly." Ronan said as he picked up the internal line phone on his desk.

The Audit Department had been recruiting for a while, but they wanted the cream of the crop. The HR

Department didn't want to settle for less, thus many applicants didn't even make it past the first round.

"Okay, I've talked with the HR Department." Ronan hung up the call and said to Wyatt.

"We are already overwhelmed at the moment. Milana suggested a solution that might work; she wants

Cordelia to help her. Cordelia has done the accounts for PrimeBuild Contractors before and is very

familiar with them. Plus, she's not a newbie. I just thought you might not agree." Wyatt said.

"Tell Milana to contact her directly, if she agrees, I have no objections." Ronan said after a moment of

contemplation.

Wyatt gave a thumbs up and left the office to relay Ronan's decision to Milana.

Milana immediately sent a message to Cordelia via Messenger: [Cordelia, could you give me a hand?

I'm swamped with work, even 24-hour shifts aren't enough. We have an overwhelming amount of files.

You can handle the PrimeBuild Contractors project, and you know it well. What do you say?]

Cordelia was on her couch, reading a pregnancy book. [What does he think?] Cordelia responded.

[Who's he? It’s my idea. I discussed it with Wyatt and he agreed.]

Cordelia thought to herself: Milana was a very responsible accountant, and she wouldn't ask for help

unless she absolutely needed it. Plus, the last time Cordelia visited Lumos Enterprises, she saw first-

hand how chaotic the Audit Department was. In contrast, Cordelia had a lot of free time.

Since she had already informed Ronan about her plans to go abroad, and he had agreed, she didn't

see why she shouldn't help out at Lumos Enterprises.

[Okay.] Cordelia responded.

Milana excitedly replied, [I was hoping you could start immediately, but considering your condition, why

don't you start tomorrow?]

[Okay.]

When Ronan came home in the afternoon, Cordelia told him about it.

"You agreed?" Ronan asked.

"Yeah. Milana rarely asks for help. It would seem cold-hearted of me to refuse. Besides, the Audit

Department really needs help, especially after the incident with Emerson." Cordelia replied. "I should

go for your sake as well, right?"

"Shall I take you to work tomorrow?" Ronan asked, looking her up and down.

"Well, no need, I've been feeling tired recently. I'll go in the afternoon, and take some work home with

me. I'll have Tristi drive me." Cordelia said seriously.

"The Audit Department is a lot of work." Ronan warned her.

"I'm not afraid."

Ronan didn't say anything else, but he thought that Cordelia was a very determined person. Once she

set her mind to something, she would see it through.

Later that night, as Cordelia was coming out of the bathroom, she passed by Ronan.

"Did you put iodine on your hand?"

"There's no need, it'll be fine in a few days. Plus, it's bedtime. I don't want to get the sheets dirty."

"Be careful."

"I will."

As Cordelia climbed into bed, she turned to face him.

At eleven, Ronan turned off the light and instinctively pulled Cordelia into his arms. The moment his

hand touched her stomach, Cordelia felt the warmth emanating from his palm.
