The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 261

Chapter 261

Ronan swung the door open. The moment he found Cordelia crumpled on the floor, he hurriedly picked

her up, half-lifting, half-holding her. Lifting Cordelia off the floor was no easy task. She probably

weighed around 150 pounds, give or take.

Cordelia was visibly shaken, her body slick with a cold sweat. Ronan rinsed her off with the

showerhead, noticing her back was colored with bruises from the fall. He then grabbed a towel,

wrapping Cordelia in its comforting warmth.

"You..." Ronan began, his words trailing off as his gaze landed on the pendant hanging around

Cordelia's neck.

This pendant, hadn't been there last night, but now it was. Given its quality, it was probably worth

around a million dollars. Jamie sure didn't hold back.

Jamie had only visited today. No wonder she was wearing such a thick robe during dinner.

A wave of anger washed over Ronan, clouding his mind. This two-timing woman, accepting a gift from

one man in the morning, then calling him "honey" in the evening. Playing both sides for her own gain!

He knew her calling him "honey" was just to butter him up, to get him to help her. "I stopped being your

husband a long time ago!" Ronan spat out, seething with resentment.

Cordelia, who had been drying her hair, looked up at his tone. Glancing down at her pendant, she

thought, "Why did I have to fall at this moment?"

Ronan waited silently as Cordelia finished drying her hair. "Done?" he asked, his voice cold as ice.

"Mhm."

"Go back to your room once you're done."

Cordelia hurriedly wrapped herself in the towel and retreated to her bedroom, assuming he was going

to clean up the bathroom. She was drying her hair with one hand and scrolling through her phone with

the other. Her work group was sending out e-gift cards; it had been a lively day. Cordelia had only sent

a few and hadn't snagged a single one. Jamie was the same, only sending and not receiving.

She put down her phone, focusing on her hair.

Ronan knocked and entered. "Your clothes," he said, placing her underwear and pajamas on the bed.

These were the clothes Cordelia had planned to change into after her bath.

Just then, Cordelia's phone went off. She hadn't had time to lock it. The open chat from her work group

showed a photo of her and Jamie, an image that now burned in Ronan's sight. Jamie stood in front of

Cordelia, whispering something in her ear while she listened, a smile on her face.

Jamie held two dolls as gifts for Cordelia. It was as if Cordelia was carrying Jamie's child.

Cordelia stole a glance and saw the photo too. She sat there, noticing that Ronan's legs had gone still.

She knew she was in trouble. She slowly lifted her gaze, meeting Ronan's stormy expression. Cordelia

shivered involuntarily.

"Think you can do whatever you want now that we're divorced?" Ronan exploded, gripping Cordelia's

chin tightly. "Flirting and seducing others under my nose, Cordelia, do you think you're being clever?"

"I wasn’t!" Cordelia protested.

Ronan let go of her, yanking the necklace off her neck and throwing it across the room.

Cordelia knew he had never been one to keep his temper. It took her a moment to realize what had

happened since she didn't feel any pain. She touched her neck, finding nothing there. Thinking about

what the pendant symbolized, Cordelia panicked. She stood up in anger, not caring about the towel

that slid off her body.

"Ronan, is this how you feel about my children?" Cordelia asked frantically.

A mother's instinct kicked in; anyone who opposed her children was her enemy.

"Your children have nothing to do with me, right?" he retorted.

Cordelia moved to retrieve the pendant from the living room, but before she could, Ronan pushed her

back onto the bed. She was far along in her pregnancy, and the push made it feel like a knot was being

pulled in her belly. She clutched her stomach, moving further back on the bed.

"If you dare lay a hand on me, we'll both go down," Cordelia threatened.

He was unpredictable. One moment, Cordelia was about to tell him about the pregnancy, and the next,

she decided against it. Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Ronan turned off the light, climbed into bed, and held Cordelia captive in his arms.

"Get off me. I find you disgusting!" Cordelia spat, her limbs flailing against Ronan.

"You think I don't find you disgusting?!" Ronan growled back at Cordelia. “Not just disgusting, but also

cheap!”
