The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 151

Chapter 151

Ronan strolled in. One hand tucked in his pocket, he was here to pick up some documents from the

office.

The meeting was about restructuring the Finance Department, requiring the cooperation of other

departments. Apart from the restructuring, they also needed to address the issues left over from

Jordan's term and prepare next year's budget. Today's meeting could run late into the night.

He saw Cordelia standing in front of his desk, tears streaming down her face.

“What’s up? Your man hasn’t kicked the bucket, why the waterworks?” He walked over to Cordelia,

placing a hand on her shoulder.

Cordelia pushed him away forcefully. “So, you’re the one behind it,” said Cordelia.

At first, when Ronan heard “it," he thought Deanna had compressed the video and sent it to Cordelia.

"Yeah, I did it, so what?" Ronan didn't appreciate the tone Cordelia was using.

"I can't believe you're such a scumbag!" Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.

"What now?" Ronan said, heading to his desk to pick up the documents. He glanced at his computer

screen and saw a message from Adrian.

Cordelia had sent him a message a while ago, but he had just walked into the meeting room and hadn't

checked his phone, so he had no idea Adrian had messaged him.

He sneered at Cordelia, "So, you're not crying over me after all."

"Why? Why did you do it? What did he ever do to you! Is liking me a crime? Nothing happened

between us!" Cordelia shouted hoarsely.

"I just can't stand his face!" Ronan curled his lips.

"Do you plan to ruin everyone you dislike?" Cordelia was on the verge of breaking down. What on earth

did Jamie do wrong!

Ronan clenched his jaw, the veins in his temples throbbing. "Stop your sob story about him in front of

me!" Ronan was furious.

"You ruined him!" Cordelia said. Even if Ronan disliked Jamie, he shouldn't have used such despicable

means.

"Does it hurt to see him like this?" Ronan asked her coldly.

Cordelia had no reply.

"Let's get a divorce!" Cordelia gathered her emotions and said. "I don't want to be with someone as

manipulative as you."

Everything that happened made her realize how calculating and terrifying Ronan was. Also, Ronan only

seemed to find out about what Adrian did after glancing at the screen. Maybe his previous answers

weren't about the same thing Cordelia was talking about.

So, what was he actually answering? How many things had he done that Cordelia hadn't seen?

Now, she was being blamed for getting her benefactor in trouble. Maybe one day he'd sell her off and

she'd even help him count the money!

"Divorce?" Ronan looked at her coldly. "You only cared about the money when we got married, now

what? Demanding emotions? Divorce because I can't meet your demands?"

Cordelia didn't reply and just held her head high stubbornly. Everything before had misled her into

thinking he cared for her.

"We can divorce after your mom's fully recovered but don't forget, I have the final say!" said Ronan.

Cordelia had nothing to say. She had no idea her mom had recovered so quickly. Most importantly,

there was still his grandfather.

Ronan picked up the documents, grabbed Cordelia's chin tightly, and said, "I have a meeting now.

You'd better reflect on your actions."

With that, he left.

Reflect? Cordelia didn't know what she should reflect on. All she knew was that she couldn't accept the

way Ronan treated Jamie.

What about his future? If Jamie reported Ronan, the police would definitely investigate.

Ronan was gone. He hated seeing Cordelia so upset over Jamie.

Even though he had been suppressing Jamie, it was clear that Cordelia's sympathy for Jamie was

growing. This made Ronan feel uneasy.

And Adrian, why did he have to message at this time? Cordelia saw it!

In his office, Cordelia couldn't stand to stay a moment longer. After calming herself down, she returned

to the Audit Department.

All day, Cordelia was distracted. Milana had to call her several times to discuss work, and Cordelia's

responses were vague.

"We're about to receive an award. Why are you so down?" Milana said to Cordelia.

"An award? For what?" Cordelia only slightly returned to her senses.

"Our Audit Department completely exposed the Finance Department. Mr. Evans has been wanting to

deal with Jordan for a long time. Now that it's finally done, quick and ruthless, of course, he wants to

reward our whole Audit Department, probably after Halloween." Milana explained while sorting out the

documents.

Cordelia was stunned. Everyone in the Audit Department was so cunning, at least Ronan had been

planning to deal with Jordan for a long time, and she had no idea.

...

After doing this, Adrian felt like he had done Ronan a massive favor. With Jamie and Manda out of the

picture, there was no chance for Jamie and Cordelia, and Ronan should have no more worries.

Today's events gave Adrian bragging rights on Facebook.

Adrian sent a message to the family group chat. [I have good connections at Lumos Enterprises.

Anyone looking for a job, let me know.]

Many people saw this message, Ronald, Samantha, and some other cousins, about ten people in total.

The reason why Cordelia wasn't in the group was that she didn't have a cell phone when the group was

created. After she got a phone, she had already cut off contact with her grandmother's family, so

naturally, no one added her.

In this group chat, it was usually just a few cousins bragging about their job promotions, and raises,

making Adrian feel inferior.

But this time, he finally had something to show off, Lumos Enterprises, a well-known big business.

[Adrian, you know someone at Lumos Enterprises?] Adrian didn’t expect anyone to actually ask. The

one asking was Adrian's cousin, Samantha.

[Yeah. And it's no ordinary person I know.]

[Let's talk privately.]

Then Samantha started a private chat with Adrian.

Samantha didn't do well in her high school, so she chose to study Marketing at an out-of-town

university. After graduation, without any connections or particular advantages, she ended up working

as a salesperson in a paper mill in Roseville.

Samantha had bigger aspirations, not willing to settle for a humdrum life in Roseville, but she had no

leads to a life in the big city.

[I want to work in the sales department at Lumos Enterprises. Do you know anyone there? Can you put

in a word for me?] Samantha asked.

[Sales? No problem. I’ll get back to you. Oh, and you can't let Cordelia know about your job hunt.]

Samantha knew Adrian and Cordelia had been at odds since they were kids. She replied. [Don't worry

Adrian. Oh, where will I stay when I get to Millstone?]

[You can stay at my place. I just bought a new house. Cordelia and my mom are still in the old one.]

Thinking about her impending move to Millstone for work, Samantha was beyond excited. Plus, she

was sure Cordelia's life couldn’t be better than Adrian’s; she probably didn’t even have a new house.
