The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 117

Chapter 117

Cordelia had been feeling under the weather lately, planning to hit the sack early back in her dorm after

work.

On her way out of the office, she saw Adrian waiting for her at the door.

"Cordelia, why aren't you hitching a ride with Ronan today? I saw him leave just now," Adrian queried.

"I've been crashing at the dorm recently." Cordelia replied.

Adrian mentally speculated that she must have had a spat with Ronan, otherwise, she wouldn't choose

to stay in a dorm. He was contemplating how he could further aggravate Cordelia and Ronan's

relationship and get them divorced for good. He had just succeeded in angering Ronan, so it was about

time to add more pressure on Cordelia's side as well.

Ronan, after hopping into his car, was still fuming. He lit up a smoke, puffing away in silence.

He knew Cordelia wouldn't dare to go on a date with Jamie, they probably just ran into each other at

the mall, and Adrian wouldn't just cook up a story out of thin air. But Jamie had once helped pick out a

tie, and that was a fact. It happened right after he agreed to raise Cordelia's salary.

Thinking about this, Ronan ripped off his tie, threw it out of the window, and drove off.

He originally planned to give Cordelia a lift home today. He even had Janice prepare dinner for

Cordelia.

That tie was picked up by a janitor who knew it was Ronan's parking space. Since the tie looked new,

she had it given to Cordelia. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

Seeing the tie, Cordelia was dumbfounded. How did it end up there?

She called Ronan who was on his way home. "How did you drop your tie?" Cordelia asked in

confusion.

"Is this the tie you and Jamie picked out for me?" Ronan asked coldly.

Cordelia went silent, thinking, how did he find out?

"I just ran into him at City Mall that day." Cordelia tried to explain.

"Save it." With that, Ronan hung up the phone.

What angered him was that Cordelia had joined Jamie in picking out a tie after he had managed to

squelch Jamie's arrogance, which suggested that Cordelia had not apologized to him for Jamie's

inferiority, but rather had some sympathy for Jamie.

Sympathy, such a peculiar emotion. Ronan clenched his fist tightly.

Cordelia felt despondent, thinking, he did not lose his tie, but threw it out. Just like when he tossed

Jamie's shirt out of his car before.

Cordelia planned to go home today too, but it seemed he was mad again. Looked like her plans to go

home had to be postponed a few more days.

Back at the dorm, Cordelia sat alone in her room, feeling gloomy. Brooklyn came over with a piece of

cake, "Give this a try."

Seeing the cake Brooklyn brought, Cordelia felt even more miserable. Ronan had never been so

attentive to her before.

True, she was just filling Deanna's shoes, so how could he care about her well-being?

Manda left the office and saw Adrian deep in thought.

At that moment, Manda was clutching a Chanel bag. Adrian originally didn't know much about bags, or

rather, he didn't know a thing about them, but thanks to Kendra, he was now well-versed in all the

brands, although he couldn't afford any of them.

"Let me give you a lift, miss." Adrian offered politely, after giving Manda her book back.

Manda wanted to get some info about Jamie from Adrian, who was after all Jamie's employee.

"Thank you, that would be great." Manda agreed.

"How's Cordelia doing at work?" Adrian asked Manda after they got in the car.

"You know Cordelia?" Manda was clearly surprised.

"Cordelia is my sister. We've had a lot of friction between us. Growing up, our parents always favored

her and praised her while I was invisible at home. Mom always made Cordelia's favorite dishes; she

only attended parent-teacher meetings for Cordelia, not mine; if there was any money left, it went to

Cordelia first. Our family wasn't rich but we were comfortable. Cordelia never had any financial

pressure growing up, while I had nothing. Growing up in that environment, it's hard not to be biased

against her. Now our father has passed away, and our mother is in a vegetative state." Adrian said this,

and his eyes were full of anger.

Cordelia took everything away from him.

Manda knew that it would take a lifetime to heal the wounds of misfortune.

"Now I want to get back at my sister, but I need your help. What do you think?" Adrian asked.

Adrian knew Manda had a thing for Jamie, he guessed she must have some beef with Cordelia too, so

he thought that the enemy of his enemy was his friend.

"Sure, but what should we do?" Manda asked with a furrowed brow. She had been holding a grudge

against Cordelia for a while now. Cordelia took her position; Cordelia’s grades in economic law were

higher than hers, which prevented her from getting into the Audit Department. Now she was giving her

a hard time in the Finance Department.

"We can start with your bag. Like this..." Adrian started to share his plan with Manda.

Adrian didn't really have a connection with Manda, but his determination to ruin the relationship

between Cordelia and Ronan never wavered, and Manda, she’d been wanting to get back at Cordelia

for some time now.
