Chapter 355 Warm Embrace
The Smith family's drama was exhausting.
Emily emerged from her bedroom, intending to chat with Isabella, but found her room empty.
Isabella was in the shower. Hearing the noise, she turned off the water and came out wrapped in a towel.
"Emily? What's wrong?"noveldrama
Emily rarely visited this late, so it must be something important.
Isabella pulled Emily to sit on the bed, affectionately ruffling her hair. She spoke gently, "I heard about what happened with the Smith family today. Mason was smart, making that woman reveal her own flaws. Now, I don't have to deal with the police anymore and can focus on my own things!"
Hearing this, Emily felt a pang of guilt. If it weren't for her, her mom wouldn't be entangled with the Smith family or framed by Scarlett.
Emily knew her mom had it tough, caring about her and trying to revive the Taylor family.
Thinking about this, her face darkened, and she swallowed the words she wanted to say.
Isabella quickly noticed Emily's unease and patiently comforted her, then pulled her into a warm embrace. Emily felt much better in her mother's arms.
As she got up, she noticed the heart-shaped birthmark on Isabella's shoulder.
"Mom, your birthmark is so pretty, shaped like a heart. Why don't I have the same birthmark? Aren't birthmarks supposed to be hereditary?"
Isabella glanced at it and laughed. "It's just a birthmark. Are you teasing me?"
But her smile froze as memories flooded back. She had always hoped to find her biological parents using that birthmark, but after years of no leads, she suspected they might have left Emerald City.
She was adopted by the Taylor family, married Hayden, and had Emily. Over time, she forgot about it.
Now, thinking back, Isabella felt a bit resentful. She had lived most of her life without meeting her biological parents. But then she realized, taking care of her daughter was what mattered most.
That night, both mother and daughter were in low spirits. Emily slept in Isabella's arms, feeling that nothing was more important than the warmth of the present moment.
In her drowsiness, Emily's mind was filled with Michael's face. She had to admit she missed him.
The next morning, Emily went to work at JM Jewelry, and Isabella got up later.
She threw on a robe and headed downstairs for breakfast, running into a maid tidying up.
"Ms. Taylor, I was just looking for you."
"What is it?" Isabella raised an eyebrow.
The maid handed her a phone. "I found this in the living room. Is it yours?"
Isabella looked at the phone. It was the one she used after marrying Hayden. She lost track of it after her illness, and it resurfaced during the recent move, but she was too busy with legal battles to care.

Now, seeing the phone brought back memories. She had been in touch with the orphanage where she grew up but lost contact after being hospitalized. She wanted to visit again.
"Thanks." Isabella took the phone back to her room, found a charger, and plugged it in.
Meanwhile, the Monday meeting at JM Jewelry was underway.
With Penelope absent, Emily chaired the meeting.
"Ms. Brown, Mr. Leo Ward is back in Emerald City. He's a shareholder and has sponsored our exhibitions abroad. Should we invite him to our upcoming jewelry show?"
Hearing this, Emily made up her mind. Roger was Roger, but that didn't mean the rest of the Ward family was the same. Alice, Roger's daughter, sided with the Smith family.
Since Leo had good relations with Penelope and the Watson family, he was worth inviting.
Emily made the decision, and everyone followed her instructions.
As she got busier, she forgot about Michael's coldness.
One day, she ran into Bryan. It was strange; they weren't close, but seeing Bryan always reminded her of Michael. Maybe it was their similar demeanor or their inseparable connection.
Emily composed herself and greeted Bryan.

"Hello, Mr. Watson."
Bryan, usually stern, raised an eyebrow. "I heard you're divorcing Michael, but you don't have to be so formal with me."
Emily was taken aback.
Bryan continued with a smirk. "He told me you two are getting divorced."
So Michael was eager to announce their divorce, even to old friends like Bryan.
Seeing Emily's reaction, Bryan guessed she misunderstood and quickly explained, "Don't get it wrong. He wasn't happy about it. He came to me for comfort." Unhappy? Seeking comfort? Those words seemed out of place for Michael.
Emily couldn't believe Michael would do that, especially for her. He had been the one pushing for the divorce, so why act all sentimental now?
Emily didn't know how to respond. She forced a smile, placed the documents on Penelope's desk, and changed the subject with Bryan.
"Ms. Blair is out on business. If you want to wait for her, you can sit for a while. I have to go."
Bryan quickly replied, "I know. I'm here to see you. I knew you'd come to my mom's office, so I waited here."
Bryan shrugged. "You know, there are a lot of gossipers in this company. I'm meeting you here to keep you and Michael out of trouble."
What do you think?
