Chapter 2029
Hertha's eyes sparkled with a mocking glee, piercing through the silence of the room.
"You're lying. After three years, who would remember such trivial details about someone irrelevant?" Georgia retorted, her face a shade of stormy gray as she tried to counter Hertha's remarks.
Alaric felt a heavy sadness within him, unsure of Hertha's intentions. His eyes, sharp and probing, looked at Hertha with a mix of scrutiny and sorrow. "Interestingly, the receptionist is head over heels for Alaric. She was so enchanted by him that she remembered everything about their first encounter three years ago, afraid she'd forget him. If you don't believe me, ask him yourself," Hertha sneered, tilting her chin towards Alaric, prompting Georgia to question him.
"Alaric, is this true?" Georgia, caught up in the moment, actually turned to Alaric.
"She's not wrong," Alaric replied solemnly.
Even though Hertha's words were a blend of truth and lies, he couldn't bring himself to expose her.
Georgia, now even more disillusioned, gazed at Hertha, her face pale and brows furrowed.
Her mind was a battlefield, strategizing her next move.
Then, Hertha added, "Georgia, you claim to adore Alaric, yet you can't even recall the details of your only encounter? Even a woman who fell for Alaric at first sight remembers every detail about him. But you? You've forgotten everything about such an important moment."
"I have a bad memory, okay?" Georgia retorted stubbornly.NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
"You say you have a bad memory,
yet you recall spending an hour with
Alaric? Isn't that contradictory?
There's only one explanation that makes sense," Hertha smoothly pivoted, seemingly ready to defend Georgia.

Before Georgia could formulate a rebuttal, curious about Hertha's defense, she asked, "What explanation?"
"Either your proclaimed affection for
Alaric is a facade. You don't truly like him; you're only interested in his family background. Otherwise, how could you be less memorable than someone who fell for him at first sight? Or, you never had any real interaction with Alaric. It's normal not to know much if nothing happened," Hertha explained, as if granting Georgia a way out.
At that, Georgia's demeanor shifted abruptly, hastily asserting, "Who says nothing happened between us?"
"Oh, please, He's all about the slow burn, spending twenty minutes just setting the mood. You don't even know that and you're still trying to argue?" Hertha scoffed.
"I—I told you, I forgot," Georgia stammered.
"Then you either don't truly care for Alaric, or you're mixing him up with some other man," Hertha said nonchalantly, pretending to clean her ear. "That's absurd! How dare you slander me like that!" Georgia exploded, her anger making her chest heave. She couldn't stand being maligned. Her outburst caught Alaric's attention.
Hertha couldn't help but laugh, "What was that? You're still claiming to be pure and untouched?"
