The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet

Chapter 2011

Hertha knew if she kept up her stubbornness, her mom was really going to lose it this time. With her head hanging low, she nodded in agreement. Seeing her daughter finally facing her true feelings, Kimberly couldn't help but smile. "Exactly! Why stress over it? Some people, some things, you lose them if you overthink it."

"Alaric isn't going anywhere after today," Hertha muttered under her breath. How could anything be lost?

"You cheeky girl, still talking back to me?" Kimberly's scolding now came with a hint of affection, the kind only a mother has for her daughter. Hertha quickly pursed her lips, choosing to remain silent.

Kimberly pulled out a significant document from the drawer and handed it to Hertha. "Go on then, he must be getting anxious waiting outside." Alaric, who had been eagerly watching the door the whole time, sprang to his feet the moment it opened.

Noticing the document in Hertha's hand, a smile spread across his face uncontrollably.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

Hertha holding that document meant she had, from the bottom of her heart, agreed to marry him.

At this moment, Alaric was beaming like a kid in a candy store.

Kimberly, observing Alaric's reaction, knew he was genuinely thrilled about marrying Hertha.

She was glad. The last thing she wanted was for him to be indifferent; that would be like throwing her daughter into a pit of despair.

"Tonight, I'm not cooking dinner for you two. You'll have to figure something out," Kimberly stated coolly.

"You might not cook for him, but you have to cook for me!" Hertha retorted instinctively.

Alaric quickly tried to smooth things over. "Kimberly's been busy with the kids all day; she's tired. And cooking for so many people is exhausting. Be a little understanding towards your mom. I'll take you out, we can eat whatever you want."

With that, he moved closer to Hertha, gently shaking her arm in a mix of a reminder and an attempt to appease her.

He really didn't want Hertha to feel embarrassed.

"Right, you two go out. Don't wait up

for me tonight," Kimberly said,

pleased with Alaric's reaction. The

young man was quick on the uptake, which impressed her.

Saying so, Kimberly headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner for herself and the kids.

"What?" Hertha looked at her mother in disbelief.

Since when did a mom push her daughter towards a man and support a night out without coming home?

Was this really her mother?

"Mom, we'll be off then," Alaric said, barely able to contain his excitement. He eagerly took Hertha's hand, ready to lead her out.

In the car, Alaric carefully took the

document from Hertha and placed it in the glove compartment. He planned to drive to the registry office the next day, so it was convenient to have it in his car.

After buckling up, he started the car, his smile nearly permanent. “So, what do you feel like eating?"

Hertha pouted, staring straight

ahead. Her mom had always been

strict about her coming home at night. If she couldn't make it for some reason, she had to report to her mom.

And now, her mom was practically handing her over to Alaric and telling her not to come home tonight.

Hertha couldn't help but feel a bit abandoned.

It was as if she was no longer the precious daughter in her mother's eyes.

“Hertha, what's wrong? Why aren't you saying anything?" Alaric asked, concerned by her silence.
