I couldn’t move. I wanted to speak, but nothing came out when I tried to. I felt my face flush as I heard Luther’s words. He heard us, he… fckng heard us! Did I moan so loudly? What did I say?

He held my arms. I was surprised when he burst into laughter. He stepped back for a moment and then looked at me. He paused but burst into laughter again. I gasped and felt a profound sense of embarrassment.

“L-Luther…”

“Your reaction! I was just kidding, Thaliana!”

W-What…

When I realized what he said, I slapped him a few times.

“A-Aw! That hurts! stop it! it hurts!”

I was annoyed! I thought he really heard us! In my memory, I vividly recalled my intense moans because of what I did with Rozzean. Of course! We are at their house! In their fckng house, and their parents are here!

Even though their room is on the second floor, I thought, what if they heard us?

“Did something happen? Just by your reaction. I won’t tell anyone, and besides, there’s no one in the nearby rooms down here because this area is for guests. So, if you did anything with Cyron, no one would hear except for mosquitoes and lizards.”

Luther rubbed his sore arm.

“Really mad, loves hurting me,” he said.

I glared at him.

I was so frustrated. I thought he heard us. It’s so embarrassing if that’s the case. I know that Rozzean and I were quite wild. What I remember is that I was on top, moving aggressively. Damn it. It’s blurry, but I can still see the image in my mind.

I covered my mouth. I could feel the heat on my face and my ears.

“Didn’t he go home last night? And if you knew Rozzean was here, why did you leave me alone?” I asked, irritated.

He’s lying to me now! He’s not drunk; I was the one who drank last night when the two of us talked. Why is he saying he’s drunk now and didn’t tell me?

“Luther, you know I was really drunk last night,” I said, pushing my hair upward.

“I didn’t know he came back either, Thaliana. I’m also tired. When I went up to my room, I saw his car arrive. I just guessed he came to see you. I was just kidding when I said I overheard you both, but your reactions tell me something really happened.”

I sighed. I couldn’t face Rozzean now if she’s here.

“Is he here?”

“No, he’s not. He came home early, but he had coffee with Dad before leaving. They talked; that’s what Mom said.”

I grabbed Luther by his arm and pulled him. I need to go home. Even though I want to scream about what happened, we need to act for our surprise birthday party for their mom later.

“Wait, you’re in a hurry,” he said as I held onto his arm.

“I wanted to start early, Luther. I don’t want to rush because I’m late. Also, I need to take care of my pets. While I’m busy, I’ll have Thes’ staff take care of them in her pet house to ensure their safety while I’m away.”

As we entered the living room, Luther and I stopped when we saw his parents. I let go of his hand and walked toward Aunt Cynthia.

“Good morning, Aunt and Uncle.”

“Happy Birthday, Aunt Cynthia!” I said.

They both smiled at me.

“Thank you, Thaliana…” she replied.

I was just looking at them. Royce Valleje’s face looked bright. It seems like his relationship with Rozzean is getting better. Luther mentioned earlier that Rozzean had coffee here with his dad before leaving.

“Did you have a good sleep, Thaliana? Were you comfortable?” Uncle Royce asked me.

“She had a really good sleep, Dad-”

I nudged Luther to stop him. He’s teasing me. I know this won’t end here, and he’ll tease me until later. I thought he really heard us!

“I-I slept well, thank you very much. I won’t stay long, uncle and aunt. I have work early, so I need to go home.”

“Oh, is that so? You should have breakfast here…”

“I’m sorry, aunt, but I still need to arrange things at the flower shop. I have an event scheduled for today,” I replied.

I saw Aunt nodding. Uncle Royce looked at his wife. Uncle Royce knows that the event I’m referring to is the surprise we prepared for Aunt Cynthia later.

“Let’s invite her again next time, honey,” Uncle said.

When I said my goodbyes to Luther’s parents, I headed towards the exit. Luther told me he’d join me shortly because he forgot something and asked me to wait for him inside the car.

While inside, I couldn’t help but look at my body. I closed my eyes tightly when I saw the kiss marks on my chest.

“You are drunk, Thaliana… you’re intoxicated, you don’t know what you’re doing because of how drunk you are-”

“Oh.”

I didn’t notice that Luther had entered the car. I was surprised when he handed me a paper bag. When I took it, it felt heavy. I opened it and found a baby pug inside.

“Oh my gosh!”

I was shocked! It’s so cute! I picked up the baby pug and cradled it. I looked at Luther, and suddenly I heard the sound of a camera.

He took a picture of me!

“Let’s go to your house. Our departure time might change, but it’s okay,” he said, starting his car.

“What’s the photo for?”

Luther’s attention was focused on the road. We were already outside his mansion.

“Nothing…”

I glanced at the baby pug in my arms. I smiled when I saw it sleeping. I didn’t expect Luther to give me a dog. Also, it’s early; where did he buy it? We were together yesterday, and I didn’t notice him carrying it.

“Thank you for this, Luther. I’m sure my other kids will be happy-”

“That didn’t come from me, Thaliana,” he said, still looking ahead.

“W-What? What do you mean? You’re the one who gave it to me…”

“He just asked someone to give it. It’s from Cyron.”

I looked again at the baby pug in my arms, and it moved.

Suddenly, I felt irritated because of what I heard from Luther. So, this cute dog is from Rozzean?! Damn, I suddenly wanted to return it, but when I saw the puppy open its eyes, I tightly pressed my lips together.

“He’s making a move. I talked to him last night, Thaliana. He thought that there’s really something between us. He was so furious; I thought he was going to punch me,” Luther said with a smile.

That’s what he wanted, to make his brother jealous.

“I got his attention, and I don’t believe that he doesn’t love you anymore. I think the reason he came back last night is because he got scared when he heard that Mama wants a grandchild from us,” he said with a smile. The grin didn’t leave his face.

When we stopped because the traffic light turned red, he looked at me.

“Are you going to accept him again, Thaliana?”

It’s not that easy. Especially now that Klari is with him. Several times. What are they doing? Playing jack en poy?

“We are both thinking that maybe Rozzean was doing this because he wanted to clean his image. My dad got mad at him, right?”

Even after what happened last night, my decision to forget him won’t change. I was so drunk; I had no control over myself. I was emotionally unstable because of Rozzean, knowing they were together in Batangas and finding out that Klari goes to his house, and last night, they were together again.

I know when I need to stop. And now is that time, even though something happened between us.

“My decision won’t change, Luther. This love needs to end.”

He nodded.

“He was with Klari, the woman who’s always with him. What do you want me to think? That they’re just friends? Forget that, Luther. Even when I was just at Rozzean’s house as a maid, I knew what Klari wanted. That woman likes him so much, and Rozzean knows I love him. He knows I’d be jealous of Klari, and now I see them always together?”

“You are jealous,” Luther said to me.

“I am.”

“I am jealous of Klari, and that’s because I love Rozzean, Luther. But I don’t want to anymore. I don’t want to love him. It’s too difficult and it hurts so much to love him.”

After I said that, Luther didn’t talk. We were silent when we reached my house. I also thought several times about returning the baby pug Rozzean gave me, but in the end, I decided to take care of it.

Luther went inside my house, and we waited for the service to take my pets. I organized the things for my pets and included taking care of the baby pug. When the ones who took my pets left, I loaded my things into Luther’s car.

I took a quick shower because he was waiting for me. Afterward, I called Alma to check if everything was okay with the flowers and if there were no other problems.

After getting the answer that they were just waiting for my signal to leave, I spoke to Luther. I told Alma that we were on the way to the venue, so they could leave too. While on the road, I called Thes to let her know that my pets were picked up and taken to her pet house.

“Busy, busy! You’ll see Rozzean there! Oh, Tangi, okay? Don’t be weak! Don’t forget what I told you! Don’t spread your legs, okay?”

I sighed deeply after hearing Thes’s words. I glanced at Luther. We stopped at a convenience store, and he excused himself to buy some water.

“I met him last night at their parents’ house, Thes…”

“What?! And what does ‘Thes’ mean… you’re crazy! I have an idea now!”

I closed my eyes, biting my lower lip. I didn’t know how to start.

“I was so drunk and I didn’t know-”

“That’s what I’m saying, damn it! That’s what I’ve been telling you!”

“Thes, I didn’t know he went back to his parents’ house! I was cornered! I went into the guest room, and then… it happened. I was really drunk last night. I can hardly remember how it happened.”

I wasn’t allowed to finish my sentence by Thes.

“What?! He’s with that b*tch, and then something happened between you two at night?! Rozzean’s such a red flag! Oh, Tangi, if I see Rozzean, he’ll really get it from me! I’m fed up with him, huh! What does he think of you? Can he just come back anytime?! And what’s that?! Why is he still with Klari? Wait a minute! I’m going to Pampanga! Tell me the location! We’ll talk in person later!”

The call ended. I couldn’t even insert a word because Thes kept talking non-stop. When Luther came back to the car, he handed me a bottle of water.

“Is there a problem?” he asked.

“Nothing…”

We went to the venue. When we arrived, my team was already there, unloading the equipment. I was busy organizing things, and Luther was doing the same. I was so occupied helping my teams. Other people responsible for setting up the place also started to arrive.

We were all busy. By three in the afternoon, almost everything was nearly done with the arrangements. The sound system was ready, and we had finished arranging the flowers. The venue was filled with different kinds of flowers, both at the entrance and on the tables.
