Chapter 24
Amelia’s Point Of View.
How could this place not be familiar to me if Mike and I used to go here often?
-Flashback-
“I heard there’s a new guitar at LMIS, why don’t we go there first?” I looked at Mike who was driving, he looked at me and smiled.
“Sure, I also want to buy a guitar pick,” he said.
We both have an interest in music, no wonder why we liked each other. I’m always grateful that I met him at a time when I had no hope of living because of the loss of mom.
He saved me. He’s my comfort person. He’s my protector.
He is one of the reasons why I am still here, it was funny when he first saw me because he thought I was going to end my life.
I was on an island and was on vacation, because dad said I needed to rest there. It was night and I was on a high rock and he thought I was going to jump into the sea.
I’m still laughing because he yelled when I almost slipped, I know it’s not funny but I can see his concern on his face even though we don’t know each other.
He also went on vacation then, I thought that my vacation would not be fun because I was alone but I also enjoyed it because I met Mike.
I don’t know if fate really intended it but he is also from the city where I live, when I was going home we both went back to our home together. Just in case, when I came back, dad told me that he was getting married to his new wife.
I don’t know how to feel, it’s only been a few months since mom was gone but she immediately found a replacement as if mom were to be replaced quickly.
I had a stepsister just a few months ago. My life was totally fucked up.
“Hey, we’re here,” said Mike so I turned to him and smiled.
When we got inside, my smile widened because of the instruments I could see around, there weren’t that many people so I felt like walking around.
There are also instruments here that are free to use, which is good because there are still places like this.
I looked at Mike holding an electric guitar, he looked at me while smiling.
“Do I look cool right now?” he asked with a smile and I laughed softly.
I picked up a black guitar and played it before teasing him with it. “No, I’m cooler than you,” I said and he laughed.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“Damn okay, I surrender.”
-EndOfFlashback-
I was about to leave before he saw me but he quickly looked up and our eyes met.
I sighed before turning my back on him, I had taken a few steps when he suddenly spoke.
“Wait, Amelia!”
I stopped and looked at him, he was standing now and looking at me, I didn’t say a word and waited for what he had to say.
He looked away before speaking. “Can we talk?”
“Is there anything else we should talk about, Mike?” I asked while sitting on the bench, while he was next to me but there was a big gap between us.
“I just want to say sorry, especially for what I said in the past,” he said almost in a whisper.
I looked away.
“I know it’s all my fault, I’m sorry if it takes five more years before I can apologize for the sin I committed before,” he said and I kept looking at my hand that was resting on my thighs. “I hurt you, I broke my own promise that I wouldn’t hurt you. I didn’t say sorry because I want you to forgive me, I know what I did before is unforgivable even if I say it was just an accident.”
“I was drunk that night so I could have done that, I know my reason was useless but that’s the truth. We were so happy those times but I ruined it. I wish we were married by now, isn’t it a shame?” he added.
I didn’t answer.
“Amelia, I want a closure,” he said causing me to turn around.
“Huh?” I asked.
“But you’re still the one to make the decision about that matter, I know you won’t forgive me,” said Mike.
“Do you think closure is the solution to this problem?” I murmured. “You’re going to marry my stepsister, I accept that. But I can’t help but feel hurt because all of a sudden everything turned out like that because you promised me marriage before but you’re going to marry someone else now?” I added.
“Amelia, I still love you.”
My whole body stiffened because of what I heard, my lips parted as I looked at Mike.
