MISTAKE 11
Chapter 11: The hospital calls
“You really are a shameless woman. I walked into Star tech for the first time and you have. thought five centuries ahead in probabilities. Mrs Jones, Are you sure you really are not nearing the grave? Is it dementia? Why would I be involved with you and your family after so long?” Anya sighed and took on a gossipy tone.
“You know what? I have a friend who sells coffins. I can connect you to him. His service is so good, you would even buy a few more for your sons and grandchildren to use. He has a family package and will give you a discount…” Before Anya could continue, the old woman ended the call.
Anya had completely forgotten that Daniel was in the car. She looked at the phone in her hand and scoffed.
“Just because killing is legal, you are still walking around like an old ghost that refuses to die, or else I would have returned you to your maker,” she muttered under her breath and took out her phone to call the hospital her mother was in
“Doctor Kent, Good evening,” he voice softened greatly, making Daniel glance her way with a
frown.
“Anya, How are you doing?” the man on the other end answered.
“I am fine. I just wanted to inform you that no one is allowed to visit my mother without my permission. If an old woman claiming to be my grandmother appears, please call the police. She already has a restraining order against her and is not allowed to approach my mother,” she said.
“I will keep an eye out,” he answered.
“Thank you. I will treat you to a meal when you are free,” she said and he chuckled from the other end.
“I will look forward to it,” he answered and she ended the call. Daniel may have felt astonished and slightly amused by her first phone conversation, but the second one irritated him. He stepped on the gas, throwing her forward.

“Be careful!” she turned to him and scolded. He felt better when she was looking at him.
“When we get to your place, start packing up. You will be living with me from now onward,” he said and her eyes rounded out into globes.
Anya stared at him half confused, half shocked.
“For how long?” she asked.
“Till our divorce,” he answered.

“And when will that be?” she asked.
“Do you actually think I will let you go about without supervision? Or do you expect me to continue just like we had last night, sleeping in your home?” he asked, avoiding the topic of
divorce.
“Why do I need to be supervised by you? You are all powerful and have well trained men, where could I possibly run to? If I dared talk about the documents, you would know. Are you telling me the
only way is to live with you?” Anya was officially frustrated. She did not know how to end her situation. It was getting worse everyday.
“The situation is much more complicated than that. Don’t even forget the gravity of what you saw,” he said sharply and she was suddenly tired
“What do you plan to do?” she asked.
“I will explain when we get to my place. You will be there a while. You should have packed more things.” he ordered.
“It is only for a month. Have you forgotten that you have to divorce me in a month?” she
started to ask.
“And if you don’t cooperate, do you think you will make it to a month?” he asked and she shut
1. up.
Anya noticed he was severely angry right now. She could slightly see the veins on his neck pulsing; an avid threat. She decided to not test her luck.
The remaining ride was quiet, which Daniel both appreciated and hated. At first he was glad she was no more arguing, but as the silence stretched, he became irritated at her for ignoring him and looking out the window.
“I will send it to a moving company tomorrow so that you can place your things he said, “or just bring it along.”
“There is no need, what I took is enough,” she rejected, much to his irritation.
in storage,
“How is that all a woman needs?,” he said impatiently. He had cousins. They always had a ton of things. She thinks she can survive on one suitcase?
She sat there stiffly. It was a long and quiet ride to his house. When she saw the familiar expensive neighborhood, she knew there was no turning back; she did not like the fact that they were in his territory.
Here, she had even less control of what happens to her.
Daniel seated next to her felt as though he could hear her fearful heartbeat and was slightly dissatisfied. Why was she acting like his home was hell?
He brought her home and she was scared? He was getting more confused about this woman’s

emotions than he was his own. When he got out of the car, basically dragged her out.
“I assure you, I can walk on my own,” she said in confusion.
“Stop stalling,” he instructed, “Someone will bring your things in.”

When he stepped inside, the staff looked at Anya in shock, but did not dare to look too long. Mr. Shaw actually brought his wife home?
He walked into the living room and dragged her to sit down on the couch.
“My bags,” she said.
“Someone will get it,” he responded before turning to the Butler.
“Put her things in the room next to mine,” he ordered and dismissed them. They were now alone in the living room.
“What now? You said I would be here for a month, right?” she asked. Her question slightly irritated him.
“You have only gotten here and you are wondering when you will be leaving?” he asked with a sneer, “That’s good. You are the reason you are in this situation, so you must keep your mind clear and not have too many thoughts,” he said.
“True. I have promised to do what I am told till the project is launched. Just make your instructions clear,” she said. Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
Seeing her attitude, his irritation reduced a bit.
“The house is completely secured. When you want to step out, a driver will take you,” he said.
Anya could already tell her freedom was escaping quickly.
“Since you have cause trouble, you should stay put till I fix it,
Anya was frustrated. She had heard him say these words before and did not appreciate taking all the blame for their current situation.
“But am I really the only cause of this?” she asked.
“If not?”
“You knew I was coming to your office, but still left those documents everywhere. Am I supposed to take all the blame?” Anya asked.
“Yes, you have to. You could have walked in and stood absolutely still without touching anything. But you not only touched, you looked through.”
His words shut her up.
“We will have to set some ground rules.” He said,
Chapter“What kind of rules?” she asked.
“Rule one, my room is off limits. You are not allowed to be there unless I allow it. Rule two, while you live here, you must be quiet and cause no trouble, I quire hate noise. Rule three, you are not allowed to invite anyone here without my permission. Rule four, I will sleep in your room every night…” he started to say.
“Stop stop stop… you are going too far. The first three rules I understand, but what is with the fourth?” she asked.
Daniel had not thought of how to explain this. He needed them to look as though they were trying to work things out before the divorce. To make sure she has no grounds to use his neglect against him.
A married couple will sleep in the same room.
“Would you prefer I bug your phone?” he asked, inching closer. This made her extremely uncomfortable.
“No. Why?” Anya asked,
“Then you stay in my room. Any signal that leaves my room can be tracked,” he said and she stood abruptly.
“Wait. Wait. Wait, What is this all about? Explain What do you mean tracked? You bugged your bedroom?” she asked. The possibility of truth in his words scared her.
