Chapter 197 The Night Before the Engagement
When the topic of overtime came up, the room went dead silent. Ramon, the notorious workaholic, had once worked seven days and nights straight, pushing five employees to the brink of collapse. It almost caused a serious incident, and it took Liliana three days of scolding to get him to take a break.
Soon, Allison joined Ramon and Liliana to go over the design drafts.
Noticing their drawing software was outdated, Allison upgraded their program right then and there, even setting up a 3D projection.
Ramon was blown away. "Wait, it can do this?"
He reached out to move the projection in front of him, amazed that it was interactive and could be manipulated and broken down.
Ramon and Liliana looked like they had discovered a new world, while Allison guided them through the features.
Liliana chuckled. "Allison, you're a real lifesaver! Ramon, don't forget to pay her for her hard work!"
Ramon nodded. This kind of high-tech program would have cost a fortune if they had to buy it elsewhere. Meeting Allison today was pure luck.
"Don't worry, Liliana. I've got it covered. Look at this, the details are perfect!" Ramon said.
As the two of them chatted excitedly, Allison was pulled away by Mia to pick out shoes and accessories.
Just then, someone rushed in.
Victor walked in and immediately saw Ramon and Liliana, engrossed in their work and laughing together. His face darkened instantly. "It's late. Why aren't you home yet?" With that, Victor pulled Liliana into his arms, his face full of displeasure.
"You've been recuperating for days. You need your evening massages and therapy. Didn't I tell you to rest at home and not come to the office?" Victor said.
Ramon frowned. "If you're not feeling well, you shouldn't be here. I can handle things, Liliana "
"Hey, easy there! I'm the only one allowed to pamper her. Don't make me jealous!" Victor snapped.
Victor scooped Liliana up and headed for the door. Alexander, standing by, got kicked aside by Victor.
"I'll deal with you later!" Victor said, giving Alexander a cold look.
Alexander smirked and took Allison's hand. "Let's head home. Let Ramon study the drafts for a few days. Come on."
Allison said goodbye to Ramon, and they exchanged contact information before leaving.
Mia sat in the back seat with Allison.
"Allison, do you think this looks good? I want to give it to Hunter!" Mia asked.
Allison looked over. It was a swallow-shaped brooch, inlaid with colorful gemstones, very pretty.
"It's nice, but a bit too sparkly for a guy. I have something better at home. I'll give it to you later," Allison remarked. Mia was overjoyed, hugging and kissing Allison. "Allison, you're the best!"
Alexander, driving, was instantly annoyed. "Mia, watch it! I know I'm handsome, but you can't just steal my kisses!"
Mia and Allison laughed and playfully wrestled in the back seat.
"Oh come on, Alexander! You know I can't resist!" Mia said, leaning towards Allison. Allison dodged Mia, both nearly falling off the seat but laughing all the while. Alexander could only shake his head in exasperation.
When they got home, Victor had already taken Liliana upstairs to their bedroom.
Victor pinned her down on the bed, but Liliana wasn't alarmed. Instead, she was laughing. "You're still getting jealous at your age? I was just discussing some designs with Ramon. Don't be jealous, it's really not a big deal."
"But it matters to me! Ramon's always had a thing for you. I knew it! As long as I'm alive, he's not getting near you!" Victor declared.
Usually calm and composed, Victor looked deeply aggrieved.
Liliana laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Alright, alright. I have no interest
in Ramon. It's been twenty years. And you're the one I chose and love."
Victor huffed. "I know, I just can't help but worry sometimes."
With that, Victor kissed Liliana passionately.
Meanwhile, Allison and Mia went straight to their rooms. Alexander sat on the living room sofa where Aiden was waiting.
"Alexander, you finally decided to come home? You've been neglecting your responsibilities. The engagement party is tomorrow. Are you ready?" Aiden demanded.
Alexander smiled, took off his jacket, and sat across from Aiden. "Everything's set. I took Allison to pick out a dress. You saw the news today and got worried, didn't you?"
Aiden snorted, giving Alexander a sidelong glance. "The Bennett family is full of oddballs. Of all the women in the world, they had to get involved with Blair and Helena? I never liked Blair, which is why I had Griffin marry Jessa. Turns out, I was right! Allison's a gem. You better treat her right. If you lose her, you'll be single forever!"

Alexander chuckled. Aiden was clearly worried he'd mess things up with Allison, which was why he was still up, waiting in the living room.
When Allison and Mia came in and greeted Aiden, Alexander relax.
Aiden visibly
"I've got it under control. Don't worry. Allison isn't going anywhere. She handled everything well despite some hiccups. It's late. Get some rest. I'll have Felicity prepare a foot bath for you. The weather's been damp, and your legs must be bothering you," Alexander said considerately.
Aiden huffed, his legs indeed aching. Allison's previous massages helped, but he didn't want to impose on her all the time.
Alexander helped Aiden to his room while Felicity prepared the foot bath. Allison, meanwhile, gave Mia some homework to complete before bed, then changed and headed downstairs.
At Aiden's door, she saw Alexander kneeling to wash Aiden's feet, a surprisingly tender
scene.
"Dad, I want to take Allison to visit Mom tomorrow," Alexander said.
Mentioning Alexander's mother made Aiden's expression turn somber.
"It's about time. She should meet Allison. You finally found someone, and I know it'll make her happy. And you should also visit the Bishop family cemetery to pay your respects to Valencia before you marry Allison," Aiden said.noveldrama
Allison was surprised by how thoughtful Alexander was. She hadn't even considered taking him to visit Valencia.
Seeing that Alexander and Aiden had more to discuss, Allison headed upstairs and ran into Victor, who had changed into his pajamas and looked flustered.
"Victor, I'm here to give Liliana her massage," Allison said.
Victor's face turned even redder.
Liliana came out of the bedroom, smiling. "Allison, I've been waiting for you. Come on
in!"
