The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart

Chapter 991

Brittany smiled weakly. "Thanks for coming to see me, Graham. I'm all right now. I'm sorry for worrying you."

Graham, a parent himself, could hardly bear to hear such words. He turned his head away, fighting back his emotions, and offered a few words of comfort before making small talk for over half an hour. Finally, he left the hospital.

As they departed, Brittany stared at Graham's retreating figure, feeling a strange sense of familiarity. But before she could piece her memories together, the doctor arrived for a check-up, and her train of thought was disrupted. She drifted off into a heavy sleep.

Back at the hotel, Graham discussed the matter of Daniel's future with Noel.

Noel was adamant about taking the child away, but Graham had a different opinion.

"Noel, you're looking to settle down and start a family of your own. Do you really plan on raising Daniel all by yourself?"

"Why can't I?" Noel was determined to preserve Isaac's only legacy.

"But have you thought about how tough it will be for you?" Graham sighed. "The Lynette family's suggestion seems reasonable. You can't be in two places at once. It might be better for him to stay in Craneville with regular visits to our family and Imperial City every year."

Noel wouldn't budge.

"Fine," Graham resigned. "I've scheduled a time with the Lynette family to see Daniel. We'll ask him what he wants then."

Noel remained silent.

Isaac's departure had forced Noel to grow up overnight. How could he let his brother's only lineage remain in Craneville?

When Brittany woke again, she found a little boy standing by her bedside, about six years old. He was dressed in a black and white suit with a bow tie, resembling a little porcelain doll as he stared straight at her.

"Who are you?" Brittany was startled.

Where did this child come from? How did he get here?

Daniel had already been told by his grandfather that his mother had forgotten him and that he needed to get along well with her.

He dragged a little stool closer and sat down. "Mommy, I'm Daniel."

"Mommy?"

Brittany was utterly confused and incredulous, "You're my son?"

Daniel nodded, his eyes misting over with tears. He lifted his wrist, showing her a photo on his smartwatch's screen - a picture of the two of them together.

"Mommy, Grandpa said you forgot about me, so came to see you." Daniel's voice was tinged with redness around his eyes. "You've been gone for so long. I missed you."

The whole world had been searching for Isaac.

Daniel had been well cared for by the butler, but with both parents not around, he felt the unusual tension in the air. When the butler, with a grave expression, told him his mother was in the hospital, he begged to be taken to her.

Seeing Brittany lying in the hospital bed, Daniel's heart ached, and he cried for a long time before he could stop.

Brittany couldn't believe she had a child this old, but the photo was real, and seeing his eyes welling up, she felt a tightness in her chest. "Don't cry, it's not on purpose. I just don't remember anything from before."

Daniel tentatively took her hand.

Brittany initially wanted to pull away, but a mysterious force drew her in, letting him hold her hand. His little face pressed against her palm, gently rubbing like a poor, wronged creature, instantly tugging at Brittany's heartstrings. She instinctively leaned in, gently stroking his head, and all her previous resistance melted away.

"Don't cry. I'm okay."

Daniel's tears fell even harder, and he sobbed quietly.

Brittany felt both pained and at a loss, her attempts at comfort clumsy and frantic.

After Daniel had cried his fill, he wiped away his tears. "Mommy, don't get worked up. You can't afford to be upset right now."

Brittany was stunned by his maturity, and it took her a moment to ask, "Then, where's my husband?"Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
