Chapter 9

RAFAEL is irritated and frustrated as he walks down the stairs. Who the heck would suddenly pay him

a visit as he and Amber is on the middle of doing something? He left out a groan when he saw his

friend, Lohan sitting comfortably on the couch.

“What the heck, Lohan?” He grunted. “What the hell are you doing here? Unannounced?”

“I’m here to see who is your wife.” Lohan grinned.

“The heck, man!” Rafael uttered in annoyance and throw the throw pillow at his friend.

“Ohh, did I disturb your honeymoon?” Lohan’s grin become wider. “It is still early though.” He teased.

“What do you want?” He grunted.

“Well, the gang prepared a party for you and your wife.” Lohan said.

“Amber can’t go, she’s resting.” He said.

“Too bad, she can’t come with us.” Lohan said making him frown. “You will be coming with me, whether

you like it or not.” Lohan said and grabbed his arms. The next thing he knew, he’s already seated on

Lohan’s car.

“Why did you even prepare a party?” He curiously asked.

“first, you got married and Joshua will be next.” Lohan said.

“Originally, it is supposed to be you who got married early.” He said making Lohan sighed.

“I know right, if only my bride didn’t run away.” He said. “Am I not the marrying type?” He left out a bitter

laugh. “Me and Jon are the most behave among the group but why did she run away from me?”

Rafael couldn’t find a word to comfort his friend. Lohan is right, among them he is the only one who

didn’t play around, his attention is only focused to his fiancée.

“I’m sorry for being dramatic.” Lohan said later on. “It was supposed to be yours and Joshua’s night.”

“It’s okay.” He said. “So, did you already talk to her?” He asked. They are aware that Lohan has been

tracking down his runaway fiancée but he didn’t have the courage to talk to her.

“Yes.” Lohan answered. “But she didn’t tell me my she ran.” He sighed. “But at least I have her close to

me so that’s enough.”

“You should’ve talk to her though. That would help resolving the misunderstanding between the two of

you.” Rafael said making his friend laugh.

“And that’s really coming from you, eh?” Lohan said in between his laugh.

“It’s ironic, isn’t it?” Rafael sighed.

“Anyway, let’s just forget our troubles tonight and drink till we drop!” Lohan said as he speeds up the

car. After a while they arrived at Lohan’s house, they went immediately to his backyard.

“Seriously, Barbeque?” Rafael asked in disbelief.

“That’s the plan, to throw a barbeque party for you and Amber, and Joshua and Danielle.” Phil said.

“Where’s Jon?” He asked.

“I don’t know, he’s not answering my calls.” Joshua said. “It seems that he and Samantha broke up.”

He added with a sigh. “He made another woman pregnant.”

“What?” Gabriel said dropping the tongs, he is the one grilling the meat. “Jon? As in Jonathan who is

loyal and faithful to Samantha?”

“Unfortunately, yes.” Joshua sighed. “From what I heard, Samantha is so broken. Jonathan really loves

Samantha, that’s why he had a hard time choosing to break up with her.”

“But why does he need to break up with Samantha? He can just give child support.” Lohan asked.

“You all know that Jon is an adoptive son of his parents.” Joshua answered. “He doesn’t want his

children to experience the hardships he experienced when he was still not adopted by his adoptive

parents.” Joshua sighed.

They all knew the story of the hardships Jon had faced during his childhood. When they are still in

college, Jon is always shy to hang around them because he thought that they only befriended him

because of his surname—Levine, and he is just Joshua’s cousin. It took them months before Jon

slowly open his self to them.

“I saw his friend dragging him and they drive off somewhere.” Nana Mildred answered.

“Oh, is that so…” She sighed in relief; she doesn’t know how to face Rafael after what happened

between them in his study. When Nana Mildred knocked to informed them about Rafael’s visitor, she

was actually close on cumming and she wanted him to continue but instead she pushed him away. Just

thinking about it make her blush.

Is what she’s feeling a respond of her body or it is due to her pregnancy hormones.

“What do you want for dinner, hija?” Nana Mildred asked her. “Rafael will surely dine outside with his

friends.”

“If that’s the case… can I go over some ingredients, Nana? I’ll see if there would be enough for a

vegetable salad.” She said; she went over the vegetables and she smiled when all the ingredients she

needs is available—lettuce, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, grapes and apples. “Do we have olive oil,

Nana?”

“Yes, we have.” Nana said making her smile wide. “Tell me if there is something you still need.”

“Hmm… Nana, do we have pork?” She asked, but she’s rampaging through the fridge. “Oh, we have.”

She said pulling it out.

“What do you plan on cooking, hija?” Nana Mildred asked.

“We’ll have fried pork chop and vegetable salad for dinner.” Amber said putting the frozen pork on the

basin full of water to defrost. “Is that okay with you, Nana?” She asked making the old lady frown.

“Since Rafael will be eating out, I’ll be lonely if I will eat alone. So I’m thinking that you, Tess and Dina

will join me.” She said making the old lady shock. At the same time Tess and Dina enters the kitchen.

“Oh, just in time!” she exclaimed. She asked the two if they’re okay with the menu and just like Nana

Mildred, they are shocked.

“Are you sure that it’s okay, Ma’am Amber?” Tess asked.

“Of course.” She answered, smiling. “How about we all make the dinner for tonight?” She suggested.

“So that we can all go to sleep early.” She added, the three helpers are hesitant at first but due to

Amber’s stubbornness they eventually agreed.

AMBER woke up when she felt that someone is staring at her and stroking her hair—it was none other

than Rafael.

“Did you just got home?” She asked in her sleepy voice.

“Yeah.” Rafael answered while staring at her. She can smell the alcohol on his breath.

“You’ve been drinking.” She said, Rafael just smiled. “You should go and clean up so that you can

sleep.” He didn’t say anything but in a glimpse of time he’s already on top of her. “R-rafa…” she

moaned when he kissed her neck. He continued kissing her neck and leaving hickies.

“Ahh… Not there Rafa.” She said. “It will be hard to cover that.” She said making him chuckle on her

neck and it send chills on her body.

“So, where do you want me to put a hickey on you, wife?” Rafael asked staring at her, amusement is

evident on his eyes. She can feel her cheeks becoming hot, so she pulled the blanket until her face to

hide her embarrassment. Her action made Rafael burst out laughing, and he lied down on her side.

“You don’t have to hide everything from me, Amber.” He said. “I already saw every inch of your body.”

He said making her blush some more.

“Stop!” She said still behind the blanket. Rafael stopped laughing and pulled her in his arms, making it

more hot for her who is hiding behind the blanket.

“Why don’t we try to work on this marriage?” Rafael suddenly asked making her pull down the blanket

until her neck and looked at Rafael who is staring at her. His eyes are shouting seriousness and there

is no hint of teasing or what-so-ever.

“w-what are you saying?” She asked, still confused why Rafael is saying that.

“Let’s work our marriage out, Amber. We got married because of the baby and not because we love

each other, but let’s try to work things out. Let us give our child a family he deserves.” He said.

“But the contract is still in effect, right?” She asked. She will only be his wife in name only. Rafael didn’t

answer. “Anything will work for me, Rafael, as long as I can have what I’ve asked.” She added making

him Rafael sigh.

“Of course.” He said.

“Anyway, I heard that you fired Antonette.” She asked, suddenly remembering what Kaylee had told

her.

“Yes. She’s the reason why there are negative reviews on the restaurant, and that hadn’t happened

before.” He sighed. “And I cannot forgive her for kicking your stomach!” Rafael gritted his teeth.

“She did?” She asked; she has no recollection of Antonette kicking her.

“You fainted that’s you don’t know.” Rafael said. She can’t help not smile, Rafael really cares for their

baby and he’s willing to do anything just for the baby to be safe.

“I heard that a friend of yours temporarily fill the managerial position.”

“Uh-huh.” He said burying his face on her neck. “But that’s not what we are going to talk about tonight.”

He said and started kissing her until he reached her lips.

The room temperature started heating up. Amber remembered what happened in his study and her

body suddenly becomes hot, she wanted to feel him. And Rafael didn’t fail her, the room was filled with

their moans.
