Chapter 29

“We are so sorry, dear.” Leo Fernandez apologized to Amber. Leo is Kaylee’s father. The moment she

learned about the truth from Lohan, she cannot help not to feel guilty. She suspected the poor man for

pete’s sake! The old man suddenly had a stroke and it leads him to a comatose stage.

Her Aunt Gina, Leo’s wife, tried to look for her with the help of Lohan’s family but they failed until they

saw her working at Rafael’s restaurant. It was then that they asked Kaylee to look out for her, it was at

that moment that she learned Kaylee’s identity.

“We really don’t know how to help you even if we already know where you are. That is why we asked

Kaylee a favor.” Gina said. Kaylee is the only daughter of Gina and Leo, Amber never once meet her in

the past because Kaylee is a shy girl and was only close to Lohan. “And another reason is we wanted

to know who killed your parents. It is good that the mastermind behind the tragic death of your family is

now behind bars.”

“I understand, Auntie.” Amber smiled. “The truth is, I am really indebted to you. I am not aware that you

and Uncle Timothy and Auntie Odette were the ones who bought our properties.”

“We are friends with your parents for a long time and it is only natural to help you.” Leo answered.

“You can go and check it if you are worried.” Timothy said.

“I really can’t thank you enough.” Amber said, her eyes are started to moist. No words can explain what

she is feeling right now. “If possible, all I want to get back is the resort. We have many memories

there.”

“You can have all your properties, Amber.” Gina said making her puzzled.

“Rafael bought it all from us.” Odette smiled making her shocked. Rafael never mentioned a thing to

her.

She is about to say something when the door opens and Kaylee enters the room.

“Amber…” Kaylee softly called her; she can feel the tension in the air.

“Kaylee!” Amber hugged her dear friend. “How are you? It’s been so long since we last saw each

other.” She said. “I really miss you.” She added.

“I…I am fine.” Kaylee answered. “How about you? I heard what happened to you.”

“I’m all good.” She smiled and hugged her friend again. “You don’t have to feel sorry about the reason

why you befriended me.” She added making Kaylee flinched. “I know that despite of the reason, you

treated me as a friend and not just someone you need to look out because they told you so.”

“Oh, Amber!” Kaylee exclaimed and hug her back.

“How did it go?” Rafael asked when they are in his car.

“It went good. I really feel bad for suspecting Uncle Leo. It turns out that he is the one helping us.”

Amber sighed. “As for Kaylee, there is no tension or awkwardness between us. She’s a dear friend.”

“That’s good then.” Rafael smiled as he drives.

“But you are not telling me something.” Amber said and pouts, she also noticed that Rafael flinched.

“About what?” He asked acting innocent.

“You didn’t tell me that you bought the properties from them.” She said.

“Oh that… It was supposed to tell you but I forgot.” Rafael answered.

“But you don’t need to do that.” Amber said.

“It is originally yours, so as a good husband, I need to return it all to you.” Rafael said making her sigh.

“But…”

“No, buts, hon.” Rafael cuts her off. “If you don’t want it, then we can just give it to our kids when they

“Kids?” She asked.

“Yes. Kids.” Rafael said. “Being an only child is lonely, don’t you think? So, we should at least have two

or three kids.” He added. Well, Rafael had a point.

“Fine.” Amber said in defeat. “By the way, where are we going?” She asked. “This is not the way to our

house.”

“I have a surprise for you.” Rafael smiled as he glances at her.

“Oh no! What kind of surprise?” Amber asked in horror, she still remembered the hot and steamy

surprised he made for her the other time and it made her stay in bed the whole day.

Rafael suddenly laughed at her question. “If you are thinking of that hot and steamy surprise…” he

grins widely as he glance at her. “We can do it if you want.” He added making her blush.

“Rafa!” She warned.

“I know… I know…” Rafael smiled. “Don’t worry, it is not about that. I will until you delivered our baby.”

Rafael added.

“Will you be able to wait?” She unknowingly asked as she looks outside.

Amber was shocked when Rafael parks the car at the side of the road.

“Amber…” Rafael called out to her.

“Hmm?” She asked as he looks at him and his serious eyes.

“What did you just ask earlier?” He questioned.

“What did I ask earlier?” she innocently asked back making Rafael sighed.

“Look at me straight in the eyes, Amber.” Rafael said as he holds her hand. Amber didn’t say anything

and just stare at him, straight to the eyes. “I know that I did many wrongs things before meeting you…”

Amber can see desperation and regret in his eyes.

“I admit that I did mess around in my younger days but that was before. I will never do those things

again now that I have you and we are building a family of our own.”

“Rafa…”

“I know that it is difficult to trust me and you still have that fear that I might look for someone who will

satisfy my needs, but fear not, hon, because no one can ever satisfy me aside from you.” Rafael said

as his eyes started to water. “I promise you that I will not betray the love you have for me.” He added

making her tear up. “And I will work hard to earn your trust, fully.” He said firmly looking at her loving

eyes. “I love you, Amber.” He said and kiss the top of her hand.

“I’m sorry if I am being dramatic.” Amber said. “I didn’t know why I said that, it’s just…” She sighed. “It

just came up and… and…”

“Shh… I understand.” Rafael smiled. “Just tell me if anything is bothering you so that we can work it

out, okay?” He said making her smile. She indeed married the most caring, understanding and loving

husband she could ever find.

“Yes.” She answered. “I love you, Rafael.” She smiled sweetly.

“And I love you too.” He said and kissed her lips. “Now, let’s go as my surprise is waiting for you.” He

said.

“Hmm.” Amber nodded. Rafael started the engine and continued driving until they parked two blocks

his restaurant. “What are we doing here?” She asked but Rafael smiled and get out of the car.

“Come out, hon.” Rafael said when he opened the door for her. She’s still puzzled but she took off her

seatbelt and get out of the car.

“What are we doing here?” She asked. Rafael smiled as he grabbed her hand and pulled her towards a

newly-built two-storey building.

“You will know soon.” Rafael answered as they entered the building, and she gasps in shock when they

entered.

“W…what? How? When?” Amber asked in surprise as she looks around.

“Did you like it?” Rafael asked.

“I don’t like it. I love it.” Amber said in excitement and happily went to the second floor.

The building is designed to be a café shop. There are still no counters, tables and chairs but she can

already visualize the layout of the café.

“The previous owner declared bankruptcy so I bought it even though I don’t know what should I do with

it. Then you said you wanted a café, so I had it renovated.” Rafael told her and wrapped his arm

around her waist. “It is yours so, I want you to be the one who will make the layout, the decorations and

such. I will just be by your side to support you.”

“Thank you.” Amber said and kissed his cheek. “It means a lot to me.” She said and wanders her eyes

to the space. “I can already visualize what I wanted to do here.” She said and pointed at the walls.

“Let’s make a book shelves there, so that customers can also read while they have a coffee. Maybe we

should also put plants and display a piano in the corner.” She excitedly said and Rafael just smile

looking at her.
