Chapter 54 Abduction Plan
Grace arrived at Global Entertainment with dark circles under her eyes. The Internet was laughing at her broken dreams. She felt like she had become the whole world’s laughingstock. Even when the janitor only looked at her for one second longer, she thought the janitor was mocking her. “What are you looking at? Get back to work!” Grace hissed like a snake.
The janitor quickly got back to work lest she incurred any of Grace’s wrath. Once Grace was gone, the janitor and her colleague started gossiping. “Can’t believe her attitude. I’d rather stay at home if I were her. I mean, Elias flat out rejected her on national TV. What an embarrassment.”
“Yeah. She tells everyone she’s Elias’ wife, but he shot it down fast. Now everyone knows they’re just colleagues. What a joke.”
Grace walked to her boss’ office. She was in no mood to work, but her manager told her to come. After she knocked on the door, he told her to come in. She did and said, “You called, Mr. Worcester?”
“Sit
Grace took a seat in front of the desk, looking at the man before her.
“Guess this is it for your relationship with Mr. Winters, but he did tell me you’re still going to receive the best the company has to offer. We invested in a few big movies, and he’s reserved the female lead roles for you. He even signed a few endorsements for top-tier luxury brands for you.”
Grace clutched the hem of her skirt. She knew that Elias was just trying to compensate for what he did, but this wasn’t what she wanted. Career wasn’t what she had in mind. She just wanted to be with Elias. She wanted to be his wife; someone all the other ladies envied.
Before Phineas could finish speaking, Grace stood up. “Mr. Worcester, tell him I don’t need these. He knows full well what I want.” She left without saying a word, but she was as white as a sheet and her heart was thumping furiously. Through gritted teeth, she hissed, “I won’t give up on you just like this. You will be mine. Mine.”
With a trembling hand, she called Elias, but he wouldn’t answer his phone. Tears streamed down her cheeks and humiliation filled her heart. Is he avoiding me? Is he going to hide from me from now
on?
At the same time, Elias was in his office leaning in his chair. He had a cigarette between his lips, and tendrils of smoke obscured his face. He looked at his vibrating phone, but he wasn’t going to pick it up. Instead of giving Grace any hope at all, he would crush her delusions right away. Eventually, the phone stopped vibrating, and he called his secretary. “From now on, Grace is not allowed to enter my office.”
“Yes, sir.”
He would cut every single tie he had with her and back out of her life, but he would still make sure she was safe from the shadows.
Night fell. Amanda was done with her work, and she stretched her arms. It was time to clock out. I’m making fish tonight. I’ve promised Aiden for a while now. She took her bag, turned the lights off, and left the oflice. Just as she did, she ran into Simon.
“Oh, you’re late. Did you do overtime?”
Amanda smiled. “Yeah, I had some work left. I have to go home and make dinner now. Aiden’s been wanting some fish for a while now.”
Simon looked at the time. “Do you need any help? Fish prepping can be a hassle, and it’s already late. You can be done faster with my help.
“I can do it. I prepped it before I came to work. It’s sitting in the chiller right now. I just need to cook it a bit. She didn’t want to bother Simon anymore, especially not after the love of his life just returned to the country.
Since she refused, Simon didn’t insist. He teased, “Are you avoiding me? You won’t even let me see Aiden now,” Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
Amanda froze for a moment and denied, “No. It’s not like that. I just don’t want to bother you. You deserve some private hours. I’ll cook for you though, someday. I’m not as good as you are, but I think I’m okay.”
“I’ll be looking forward to it. Simon cocked his eyebrow.
“See you tomorrow.” She waved him goodbye and walked to the elevator.
Simon saw her off, his eyes twinkling.
Amanda went back to Galaxy Bay, Unbeknownst to her, a black car started tailing her the moment she left the firm, and the driver was none other than Grace. She tried looking for Amanda in Lotus Waterfront, but she had moved, so Grace staked out the firm to find out where she was living. She slowly stopped the car and hid in the darkness of the night.
Grace watched Amanda. The moment she got out of the car, a boy came out of the villa. It was the same boy she had seen. Amanda held the boy in her arms and kissed his cheek, then she went into the villa, Grace clutched the steering wheel tightly, her eyes filled with hatred.
Sitting on the passenger seat was a paternity test result. A gust of wind blew into the car, flipping. the result until the last page, where it wrote, ‘99.99% related.
Grace made a call. “Don’t go home tonight. Stay in the house. I’ll call you tomorrow, and you’ll take the boy to me.”
“You can only take him for a day and he must be back by sundown, or I’ll have a lot of explaining to do,” Colette, the nanny Amanda hired, answered.
“I know. I told you I’m the boy’s aunt. I just want to see him, that’s all. Amanda’s my brother’s wife. She got in a fight with him and left the house.”
“No wonder she kept telling me the kid’s father is dead.”
Grace got into acting mode and lied, “Yeah, she’s throwing a tantrum. She can’t just up and leave with the child, and she won’t let my brother see his son. That’s just heartless.”
Colette was fooled. “Sure. Once she goes to work tomorrow, I’ll take the boy to you.
“Thanks. I’ll pay you after that. Just let me see the boy. My brother’s been looking everywhere for him.”
“Poor guy. Miss Bailey’s gone a bit too far.”
“I’m counting on you, then.” Grace hung up, and a dark smile curled her lips. Once the boy and Amanda are gone, Elias will fall for me again.
