Chapter 2092 Never Give Up
Chapter 2092 Never Give Up
Damian sighed and decided to leave.
After walking a few more steps, Charles finally decided to stop. As the footsteps behind him went away,
he also heaved a sigh. Turning around, he walked back towards the same direction he came from.
Charles came as he had wanted to see Sheryl. But in the end, he realized that he still didn't have the
courage to face her. What was he supposed to tell her? And what should he do?
Sheryl had declined him last time, and she had been pretty determined. By the looks of it, it seemed
like nothing could ever change her mind. He had no chance of winning her back. At this stage, he
couldn't take another rejection from Sheryl. But still, Charles didn't want to give her up.
The more he thought about it, the more desperate he became. Walking out through the hospital door,
he watched how people came and went. All of a sudden, he was unsure of where he should go.
Without Sheryl, he felt like a lost soul, and his life was meaningless.
Meanwhile, the ward had not been too busy today.
Sheryl opened her eyes to a well-lit room and the scent of lavender. Propping herself up to sit on the
bed, she positioned one of her pillows behind her. She felt energetic like she had taken a good rest.
Actually, she had a dream just now, although it wasn't a good dream.
Pushing the door open, Cassie walked inside. She had a bright smile on her face, seeing that Sheryl
looked great. "Sher, you are up!" Cassie started. "Did you sleep well?"
"Yes." Sheryl nodded. "Anything for me?" Sheryl asked Cassie.
"Nothing, I just come by to tell you that your discharge procedure is done, and Nick is coming to pick
you up."
Sheryl smiled back and nodded at Cassie. "Thank you so much. I was thinking about calling a taxi
myself."
"No need to do that. Nick will be your chauffeur now," Cassie chuckled.
"Thanks, Cassie."
Shortly after, Nick walked into the ward and straight in Sheryl's direction.
"What are you two talking about? You seem to be having a lot of fun," Nick asked curiously, hearing the
two ladies chuckling when he stepped in.
Sheryl looked over Cassie's shoulder and answered, "We were just talking about you, and then you
walked in."
"Talking about me? About what?"
Feeling a little embarrassed, Cassie's cheeks turned red, so she interrupted before Sheryl said another
word, "Nothing. You're here early. Have you already finished work?"
"Yes, I came to the hospital as soon as I was done. So what would you like to eat tonight, ladies?" Nick
asked, smiling. He was starving himself, so he was excited about taking both Cassie and Sheryl out.
Waving her hand, Cassie said, "You go with Sheryl. I am doing the night shift today, so I can't go with
you. Maybe some other time." Nick made a sad face at what Cassie advised, so she elbowed him
lightly to tell him to behave. Nick smiled back to confirm he was just kidding. "By the way," Cassie
continued. "Sheryl just recovered. She shouldn't eat spicy food as of yet. Plain dishes will be good for
her. What about having some Cantonese cuisine tonight? It isn't oily, and it's good for your health."
Hearing Cassie's instructions, Nick felt surprised. "Cassie, I never thought you knew so much about
this."
"Come on, Nick, what's so surprising? I am a nurse, and diet greatly affects our health…"
"Stop, you two. I'm starving. Why don't we just leave for dinner?" Sheryl interrupted before Cassie
could finish her sentence.
Nick walked to the bedside and helped Sheryl carry her luggage. Before they left, he turned to Cassie
and said, "Cassie, I'll drive Sheryl home. Don't work too hard. Remember to take some rest from time
to time, okay?"
Cassie nodded. "Bye, Cassie," Sheryl said to Cassie too.
Helping Sheryl carry one of her bags, Cassie offered, "Let me walk you to the entrance."
Nick put Sheryl's luggage in the trunk while Sheryl stood by his car. She said to Cassie, "Cassie,
thanks for taking care of me these past few days. I mean, you needed to work, but you also took the
time to take care of me. I really appreciate it."
"Don't mention it. That's what friends are for," Cassie advised Sheryl with a smile.
"Yeah, Sher, Cassie will take care of you," Nick assured her.
"Don't take anything for granted, Nick. By the way, when are you two tying the knot? You've been
dating for such a long time. Have you two considered settling down anytime soon?" Sheryl ended up
asking Cassie, as the question suddenly popped into her head.
Cassie blushed upon hearing Sheryl. "Sher, why bring that up all of a sudden?"
Nick squinted and chuckled. "I'm waiting for Cassie to say yes, Sher. Actually, I've proposed a number
of times already, but she's rejected me each time."
Nick's answer surprised Sheryl, so she had no plans to let Cassie off the hook so easily. "Cassie?" she
said, stressing out her name. "Why are you so hesitant to marry this sweet guy? Don't tell me Nick
failed your test."
Hesitantly, Cassie took a quick glance at Nick. Her face became redder as she turned and gazed at
Sheryl. "Sher, I…"
Sheryl burst into laughter and changed the subject, seeing how embarrassed Cassie was. Looking at
her watch, she noted, "Oh, it's about time you go back to work. We should get going."
'Thank God!' Cassie breathed a great sigh of relief and nodded immediately. Before going back to the
hospital, Cassie reminded them, "Sher, take care. And Nick, drive safely. I should get back to work now.
I'll see you soon. Bye."
"Bye."
Watching Cassie disappear in the entrance, Nick couldn't help but feel frustrated.
Taking a quick glance at Nick's direction, Sheryl understood why he was upset. But then again,
relationships were private and supposed to be between the two people only. As much as she wanted to
help, there wasn't much that Sheryl could do. Nick couldn't rush it now that Cassie seemed to have her
own concerns.
"Don't give up, Nick," Sheryl said softly. She could feel Nick's gaze on her now, so she chose to
encourage him. "You and Cassie have been dating for such a long time. By now, you two must
understand each other so well, so I am sure Cassie could feel how sincere your intentions are. I guess
the only reason why she couldn't say yes to your proposal is that she also has personal concerns she
has to resolve first. I mean, getting married is a big deal. Everything in your life will change once you
get married. I guess Cassie just needs some more time to think it through. That's something you can't
rush on. Just be patient."
Nick nodded in agreement. "I know, Sher. I am willing to wait until she's ready."
"Great! I'll look forward to hearing your good news then."
Holding the car door open on the passenger side, Nick let Sheryl get inside before he walked to the
driver's seat and got in. Soon, he started the engine and drove away.
After about 20 minutes, Nick and Sheryl reached a western restaurant. Although it was dinnertime, it
wasn't very crowded. Nestled behind the traditional Irish pubs in a fully restored Georgian building, it
provided the perfect dining experience with its up to date decor and excellent choice of dishes on the
menu. Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Cassie and I love to come to this restaurant. You see, the food and service here is pretty good," Nick
explained to Sheryl, as they sat down across from each other at one of those empty tables.
"It looks nice. Just to remind you, Cassie said earlier that I can't eat oily food as of yet. Since you often
come here, do you have any recommendations?" Sheryl queried.
Nick made a gesture to call one of the waiters' attention. Soon, a man dressed in a black vest and a
white long-sleeved polo shirt approached their table. Nick figured Sheryl needed some protein since
she just recovered, so he placed their order accordingly.
"One is well done, and the other is medium-rare. Also, I would like to order tomato soup, thank you."
Nick then said to Sheryl, "The tomato soup here is really good. You should have a try. The soup and
the steak is actually my favorite combo."
"I see. I'd love to try it." Sheryl smiled. The waiter left to get their order.
As guaranteed by Nick, the steak was indeed very delicious. Sheryl didn't have any appetite when she
had stayed in the hospital. But after tasting the tomato soup, she felt like her appetite had been
stimulated. After she finished the soup and the steak, she ordered some dessert.
"If I continue eating like this, I'm going to be fat," Sheryl joked as soon as the waiter left to get the
dessert.
Nick burst into laughter and assured her, "You are not fat at all, Sher. Anyway, you've lost a few pounds
over the past few days. You look so skinny. You should really eat more to gain back the weight you've
lost."
"Really? Then I guess I should order another dessert. What do you think?"
Sheryl laughed, not noticing that a man was approaching her direction.
Soon enough, he stood next to Sheryl, his eyes looking at her gently.
Noticing the man, Nick lifted his head to check who it was. He almost dropped his fork in shock.
"Sher…" Nick was about to say something to Sheryl, but the man interrupted him.
"Sheryl, what a coincidence!" The voice sounded familiar.
Turning her head to see who it was, Sheryl was surprised to see Damian.
"Damian? What brings you here?" Still having food in her mouth, Sheryl slurred. It was quite awkward
to bump into Damian under such circumstances.
