The Alpha’s Dynasty

Powers

Zane.

Two hours later, we were in Misenium. During the entire drive, I was pondering my situation and wondering if it was a good idea to use Chelsea to help me bring my father down and then destroy her afterwards. Her offer to help was tempting, but it meant me being without Maya. I couldn’t see myself being happy in the case.

“I don’t think I can work with you,” I told her after stopping near the hotel we had made love from. During the drive, I had texted three of my men to go and keep watch of Maya at her apartment and make sure they didn’t find out who they were. I needed to know she was safe as I fraternised with the enemy.

Chelsea smiled and opened the car door. “You have no idea what you’re dealing with. You can go, but I promise you will be back by yourself and by that time, the price will be higher. Now I’m liking this more than ever.”

“I fought my battles before you came here, and I will continue to do so.”

She laughed. “Do you even know where your father has been, and who he has been with? If you knew the answers to those two questions you wouldn’t be talking big like this.”

Now she was trying to scare me, and it was working. My attempts to get rid of my father had failed because some of the council members supported him. I had paused my fight to go and check on Maya and the company.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

“What are you?” I asked. “You have extraordinary strength. You’re not a werewolf, which I can tell.”

“You’re right, I’m not. See you soon, Zane.” She said before opening the car door and disappearing, leaving me more confused than ever. What was my father up to? It was then I realised that Joe had not called me, not even talked to me via mind link. If something was going on, my beta would have told me unless…unless something had happened to him. I tried to reach him via mind link but I couldn’t so I pulled out his phone and dialled the number. It was not going through. I called Mark, but he was also unreachable.

I had focused so much on Maya that I failed to pay attention to anything else. I should have known something was wrong. I remembered that Mark had tried to call me in the afternoon but I was in a meeting with an investor so I had ignored his calls and switched off my phone for a while. When I turned it on, I had forgotten all about the calls. I decided not to call anyone but go find out what was happening by myself.

The pack house was silent and most of the lights in the residential side were off. The main building which housed the offices on the ground floor had a number of lights on. There were more guards than usual standing guard. I approached the first group but they didn’t bow as they should have which left me puzzled. For a moment, I was scared that my father had already taken over the pack and left me high and dry.

“Where is Joe Hadden?” I asked.

“We don’t know and don’t care,” one of them, a brave short thing said. I grabbed his neck and snapped it then let his limp boy fall to the ground.

“Will anybody tell me where my beta and gamma are or do I have to kill you all.”

“We cannot tell you anything,” the two men said in unison. I was so angry that I lunged at one and knocked him down while the others charged at me. I used my powers to electrocute him and he fell backwards. Now I was royally pissed. For soldiers to turn against me like that, there had to be something big going on. I began to think Chelsea was right.

I was about to make my way towards the building when I saw ten soldiers coming out. It was strange. They were walking at the same speed and looked as if they were in a trance. They looked like a group under some sort of mind control. I waited for a few seconds. When I saw them heading towards me, I started taking a few steps backwards. They started to move faster, their eyes glowing in the dark. This couldn’t be it, I kept thinking to myself but as they advanced, I realised they were out to catch me. So I did the only sensible thing I could do at that time. I ran.

Ever since I became an alpha, I had never run away from anything. My father had finally brought me down. I had fooled myself into thinking he couldn’t really do it but it was now clear that he could do whatever he wanted in order to get back on the throne.

The only good thing was that he had not yet taken away my alpha powers. Two people couldn’t have the powers at once in a pack. He needed me in order to take the powers, unless I relinquished them or left the pack like he had done.

I laughed as I walked through the woods. I was not about to let that traitor take everything I had built from scratch. He quit on the pack after burning it to the ground. Now that I had struggled to make everything good again, he wanted it back. He wanted the easy stuff, and I had no plans of letting him have them.

I had to do something, even if it meant going to my enemy. That’s right. I had no other choice than to return to Chelsea.

She was wearing lingerie when she opened the door. “I knew you’d be back,” she said with a big smile. “Unfortunately, I already got someone to entertain me for the night.”

A vampire appeared behind her. He was shirtless and wearing black shorts. “Zane Carrington, I heard that you’ve been overthrown and they killed your beta. That’s unfortunate but you can’t find comfort in this lady. She’s taken.”

“Joe is dead?” I asked, feeling weak in the knees.

Chelsea stood aside. “I’m sorry about your loss. Please come in.” she turned to her vampire lover. “The moon looks like he needs some rest. Can’t kick a man when he’s down now, can we?”

“Fine, whatever.” The man said. They both followed me into the room. I sat on a small wooden chair. I didn’t trust the couch to be sanitary, considering their state of undress.

“How did they kill him?” I asked the man.

Chelsea sighed. “You see that vision I showed you? That was not you being tied up. I manipulated that part. That was Joe. Your father stabbed him after failing to get sensitive information from him.”

I stood up, angry. “I’m going to kill that man.”

“If you want, I can do it for you.” Chelsea offered.

I shook my head. “No, I don’t know if I really want to kill him.”

“Fine. I’ll take away the power that he has. It will be my revenge against Seline Walters.”

“Seline Walters is the greatest witch alive. How would that be revenge against her?”

“Because she is the one who gave your father the powers he has now.”

“My father has powers? I used my alpha powers to defeat him when he was in the cave.”

“He wanted you to think he was weak and powerless, only to turn on you when you least expected. Almost everyone at the pack is under mind control right now. Seline is using your father to get more power. She gives out her powers. When they are used, her powers increase.”

“NO wonder the soldiers at the pack were after me. They’re being mind-controlled.”

“Yes. So you can take away the powers without killing that bastard.”

She nodded.

“Do it.”

She smiled. “And I will, at a price.”

“What do you want?”

“I want you to reject your mate.”

“What?”
