Bella’s POV

Dominic smashed his lips on mine, in a shockingly sudden move as he pulled me in his lap and the noise of the living room TV faded in the background as he lost himself in my scent and embrace.

“I am so worried”, Dominic whimpered as he nibbled on my jaw and proceeded to assault my neck.

Tightening my hold on his hair, I flung back my head and let the Vampire King find calm and peace in my presence, although this was only a temporary distraction for the both of us.

Feeding on me and finally, falling asleep for the first time in so many days, Dominic passed out on the couch itself while I trudged my way to the kitchen to prepare something healthy and appetizing for the upset royal.

I was royally pissed off at Kai but could not stay mad at him for long when he was trying to protect us. I was still hell angry at him for pulling off this disappearing act of his on us.

Was it even him who was out there destroying the Dark Lord’s army ?

Questions. Questions. And questions !

But no answers.

An hour passed by and when the dishes were almost done, two loving arms snaked around my waist while the cuddling vampire rested his cheek on my back.

He hardly slept for an hour !

Sigh.

He is going to look like a living zombie by the time Kai comes back.

Kai will come back, won’t he ?

“I miss him. Why did he have to go ?”, Dominic sobbed, his face buried in my back. “Doesn’t he know that my father will not spare him when he finds out ?”, his tears flooded my back and soaked his tee that I was drowning in.

“Have faith in him, Domz”, I coaxed, cupping his head from behind and caressing his hair to comfort him.

It seemed like this had become our new routine now.

I was sure that the Dark Lord and we were crying at the same time, but for entirely different reasons.

Hopefully tomorrow, i. e. Friday was going to be the last day of Kai’s absence.

He promised us, he would come back to the dorm after five days from Sunday afterall.

“If it turns out that it was that sneaky Lycan who was the mastermind of all this, then I am personally, going to kill him !!”, Dominic swore making me chuckle.

“I am pretty sure your death hugs are going to do the job when he comes back”, I teased and Dominic smiled- smiled for the first time in days !!

“When he comes back …. “, Dominic murmured as his smile fell down again and he was back to moping about Kai’s disappearance.

The food I prepared was left untouched and two anxious souls silently sat, huddled together on the couch all night.

Bella’s POV

“What’s up, Ryan !”, Domz greeted his Beta while I smiled at him and high fived, both of us hiding our sorrows and fears behind an energy draining, fake cheerful attitude.

Atleast Tyra, Freya, Conor and Max did not notice anything off with us and even managed to pull off a record number of pranks on the substitute teachers who came to take Kai’s periods during his absence.

The one that stood out the most was Ms Pierce finally leaving the class in tears with burnt hair (Conor convinced the teacher that his magic trick was impressive and the pathetic sleaze of a woman jumped on the opportunity to let a male student “flirt” with her), torn and inked skirt (it was so slutty that Tyra decided to “add” some of her own “designs” to it) and finally, with dripping dark blue ink marks on her hands from the leaking permanent markers that Max and Freya had messed up.

Life Hack #101 for teachers: Always use chalks to write on the blackboard instead of markers on the whiteboard. A watery inked marker is not good for your hands and clothes.

“What the fuck pumped the life out of you two ?”, Ryan hissed as he looked at our eyes and lean, haggard looking bodies. “One more day and you both could pass off as walking and talking skeletons !”, he exclaimed.

“Any news ?”, Dominic asked, cutting off his Beta’s rant.

Ryan nodded and replied, “As we speak, four more rogue dimensions are blasting away. That leaves only one dimension with the Dark Lord and his huge evil army.”

“Yes, only the human world exists as of now. The Dark Lord lost a huge chunk of his army due to the destruction of the other dimensions but he still has over a 20 million barbaric militia of rogues stationed in this dimension. Our spies say that the Dark Overlord has closed all gates to the army bands stationed here. It is practically impossible for even smoke from outside to enter those militarized regions now”, Ryan informed. “Guess the blasts are going to stop from today onwards”, he shrugged.

“So all war zones have been effectively wiped out along with all supernatural dimensions ?”, I tried to confirm.

“Yes. Whoever is the culprit, he or she successfully managed to concentrate the Dark Lord’s army in this dimension which totally works in our favour. The Dark Overlord will not try to engage in open war in front of humans for sure. For some odd reason, he was advised against exposing the supernatural beings in the human world by the Head Witch but we are not sure now. Whoever establishes his or her hegemony here, shall be the ultimate ruler of all beings- human or otherwise now”, Ryan elucidated the whole present case scenario in detail.

“Makes sense”, I murmured and on cue, the bell to the first class rang.

“Dammit. I need to hurry or else the Legal Studies prof shall not let me enter his class for being tardy the third day in a row”, Ryan cussed before shouting a quick goodbye to us and running down the halls.

As we turned round the corner, a familiar scent hit us, making our heartbeats suddenly thump like crazy and I swear I never felt more restrained in this human world, to not use my supernatural speed to carry my legs faster.

“YOU ARE LATE TO MY CLASS, MS DIAZ AND MR KENT. FRONT SEATS FOR YOU TWO AND YOU HAVE AFTER CLASS DETENTION WITH ME. FOR NOW, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A SURPRISE QUIZ ON ASSET MANAGEMENT”
