Tasting The Enemy

Chapter 55

Elaine POV

If I wasn’t a werewolf, I would have sworn I was going mad when I saw lightning shoot out of the ceiling and nearly blast my foot off. Every electric appliance in the house exploded to light and operated on its highest settings.

Will I ever catch a break?

“Elaine, what’s going on? The door won’t open,” Rae banged on the kitchen door.

I backed up slowly. Soon the knives will start flying.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

“Yeah… I’m stuck.”

“It’s magic.”

“No kidding!”

The blender toppled over the counter and crashed.

Okay, if I don’t do something I’m dead! Azaire’s going to return from his hunt and find his mate dead. I’ve been using my powers for a while now and if they’re as strong as Rae says then I could handle this.

I blocked out the noise and summoned my powers to the surface which pushed my wolf back. I couldn’t feel her anymore all I felt was the force of sheer power. It made me feel on top of the world.

I could destroy anything.

I extended my hands and let the power flow out of me. Electric power purple flame shot to the ceiling.

I only had one thought. Destruction.

I must have emptied my tank because I collapsed against the kitchen door when the purple flame finished its job. Everything was quiet. I’m sure the appliances were dead. There was an angry black mark on the ceiling where the lightbulb should have been and there was glass everywhere.

Rae dragged the door open.

“Whoa, you did all this?”

I lifted a shoulder. “Azaire’s Mom is not going to like me.”

“Give her a grandchild and she’ll love you,” Rae smiled.

Like it was that easy!

“It was evil magic which means it could only be Avena.”

Rae walked around the room in silence. “No… this isn’t Avena’s style.”

“Isn’t anything deadly her style?” I asked, picking myself up.

“True but leaving behind a burnt plant is Lynn’s signature.”

“Your sister?”

Rae nodded. “I haven’t felt her magic in forever. Now she’s attacking you. What the hell?”

I lifted a shoulder. “I’ve never seen your sister.”

“She’s a psycho witch and I’m hella impressed you chased her magic away like that! You may be the most powerful witch I’ve ever seen! This is so cool.”

“It was terrifying.”

She waved me off. “Let’s clean this place up so we can work on your aura.”

Two hours later and after a few spells the kitchen was clean though Azaire’s Mom needed a new blender. I used a new spell to cover the burnt mark on the ceiling but we had to replace the light bulb as well. Rae said she knew a guy who dealt with this stuff so I stayed at the mansion while she went out to buy supplies and get the guy.

I hoped she would get back before Azaire and his brothers.

The kitchen door opened and I assumed it was Rae but it was Wynter in her newly dyed white hair and blood-red lipstick. She paused when she saw me and frowned before she proceeded to the fridge.

“You’re here,” she said.

“Yeah…”

“So as Azaire’s mate what’s your role around here?” she asked.

“I don’t have a role. I’m technically not a member.” I recalled the time I tried giving my loyalty to Richie and it failed.

“Hmm. I know about your defective wolf so you wouldn’t do much to the beta army and since you betrayed your Pack I doubt you’d make a good political asset to the Pack.”

“Excuse me? I betrayed my Pack? What do you know about what happened in the Black Claw Pack?”

“I know an Alpha’s daughter is a mighty asset and you snubbed your marriage to one of the most feared Alphas in all the lands.”

I rolled my eyes. “I’ll fear Lucas before I ever fear Neel.”

“You know what, I figured out what your role’s going to be. Yes, you’re going to have all of Azaire’s kids! He always said he wanted a little army of boys.”

I balled my hand into a fist. My magic climbed to the surface I had to push it down or else Wynter would lose her pretty face.

“You seem awfully concerned for someone with her own Pack. What, are you eying this one too? Could it be under all that prim and proper nonsense you’re nothing but a social climber struggling to get Daddy’s attention? Don’t worry, I know what it’s like not to have all of Daddy’s love. We can bond about it,” I smiled.

I hit a nerve. Wynter’s eyes turned as red as her lips. My smile grew brighter when I heard the commotion outside. The Hunting party was back. Ross and Lucas wandered into the kitchen first. Both buck naked.

I cringed painfully.

“Ladies,” Lucas greeted us.

“Clothes guys?” Wynter asked.

“We just came back from a gruelling hunt who cares about clothes?” Ross replied.

Azaire walked into the kitchen next, covered in dirt and grim. He found me quickly.

I backed up. “No.”

“You don’t want to hug me?”

“Maybe after you shower!”

He picked me up and wrapped my legs around his waist. “You’ve never smelt so good.”

“I don’t know how to take that.”

“Azaire don’t get carried away we have a plan to sort out,” Lucas said.

“Shut up Lucas.”

He carried me out of the kitchen. I felt Wynter’s eyes burn eyes in the back of my head.

Clearly Wynter and I wouldn’t be friends but as long as all she was doing was helping the Blood Moon Pack then I didn’t have to deal with her.

I had witches to fight and I couldn’t be sure they wouldn’t attack us tomorrow. It was a crucial night for us then we had Alpha Laiken to deal with and that was a giant on its own.
