Tangled Temptations

Chapter 8

When Eloise woke up again, she found herself leaning against Harvey's shoulder, held tightly around the waist by his strong hand. The scent of his woody cologne and masculinity were incredibly sexy.

Harvey was on the phone, his voice low, but serious. It was against the rules to make calls in the infusion room, but his handsome appearance attracted the young women around. Their gaze seemed to make him shine even brighter.

As Harvey hung up, he noticed Eloise was awake. A faint blush had returned to her pale face, and her eyes were sparkling with the confusion of just waking up, which was quite charming.

Harvey casually asked, "How long do you plan to lean on me?" Eloise blushed and hastily stood up.

Harvey picked up his jacket, put away his phone, and then said to her, "I'll take you home." Although Eloise felt a bit embarrassed, Harvey insisted.

On the road, Harvey received a call, then told Eloise, "I need to go back to my apartment to get a fax, then I'll take you."

Eloise hesitated a bit, knowing what it usually meant for a woman to go to a bachelor's apartment, but she sarcastically thought that a charming man like Harvey certainly didn't lack any women, and he didn't need to use any tricks. So, Eloise silently agreed to his proposal.

Harvey's apartment was located in the prime area of Peterborough, about 200 square meters, and very luxuriously decorated. He let Eloise wait in the living room while he went to his study. He received the fax, made another call to his assistant, and then was done.

Just as Harvey prepared to take Eloise home, his phone rang from inside his pocket. That unique ringtone belonged to someone specific. Harvey's expression changed slightly, and his body tensed as he pulled out his phone. Sure enough, it was that person's call.

After a while, he hung up the phone. That person did not call back.noveldrama

Harvey's mood turned sour, he pulled out a bottle of strong liquor from the wine cabinet, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, quietly watching the night outside. Eloise had been waiting in the living room for a long time, at first, she could hear the sound of the fax machine, then it was silent. She was a bit worried, so she gently pushed open the door of the study.

Harvey's back was to her, Eloise couldn't see his face, but his silhouette seemed incredibly lonely. Her intuition told her that Harvey was missing someone in his heart. She quietly prepared to leave, but then Harvey's voice came from behind her, "Stop!"

Then, she was gently embraced by him. He was nibbling on her neck, whispering, "You came here. Don't you want to sleep with me?" Eloise could not deny it. She knew that Harvey's emotions were unstable, and even if they did sleep together, he might not admit it. But she could not resist. She could only let him take control.

The atmosphere of the evening became more and more intense. In front of the floor-to-ceiling window of a luxury apartment on the 24th floor in the city center, Eloise's hand was tightly gripped and raised up against the glass.

Harvey was always good at teasing people, and his cunning ways drove Eloise to the brink. Despite having had some drinks, he was soberly observing Eloise's fluctuating emotions.

...

However, Eloise did not get what she was expecting. With a confused look in her eyes, her red lips slightly parted, she asked softly, "Harvey... what's wrong?"

There was no longer any desire in Harvey's eyes. He took a step back, coldly saying, "Ms. Laurent, I've had a bit to drink, and I lost my composure."

Eloise's face went pale, and she felt extremely embarrassed.
