Tangled Temptations

Throughout the whole process, Eloise was on the back foot, much like their worn- out relationship. She looked at Max, her eyes filled with hatred.

Max let go of her and sneered, "You want to get close to Harvey? Do you think you're cut out for that? Everyone knows he's picky and doesn't mess around with women just like that. And Eloise, you get all jittery from a simple kiss. How would you handle a man trying to undress you?"

Eloise didn't want to look at his face. She lowered her gaze. "That's none of your business!"

Max looked down at her with indifference. "Or is it that you can't get over me and you're deliberately getting close to Harvey to show off? You think I care?"

Eloise felt sick to her stomach, and she looked up at him. "Max, if you hadn't framed my father, who you marry would be none of my business! Don't flatter yourself!"

Max stared at her. Eloise forced herself to meet his gaze because she didn't want to appear weak in front of him. After a while, Max smirked, "Eloise, you'll want to be with me! We'll see." Then he walked out the door.

The grand wooden door swung back and forth with a bang. Eloise's legs gave out, and she leaned against the wall, tears trickling down her cheeks.

Max was heartless! Four years of a relationship, she had given so much to him, only to be betrayed!

Not until now did Eloise realize that Max was only with her to toy with her, he never intended to marry her. Yet, she was always dreaming about their wedding.

Eloise laughed at herself, tears streaming down her face.

Veronica's voice came from the doorway. Eloise wiped away her tears and looked up, only to freeze on the spot.

Outside the door, in addition to Veronica and her husband, stood Harvey. Harvey, dressed in a dark blue shirt and charcoal grey trousers, looked very business-like.

Veronica was worried about Eloise, but instead of mentioning Max, she explained, "It suddenly started to rain, no more golf."

Her husband chimed in, "Yeah, yeah! We'll reschedule... Attorney Horigan, could you give Eloise a ride? Veronica and I just happen to have something to do."noveldrama

Harvey looked at Eloise and the redness in the corners of her eyes, his gaze complex. After a moment, he casually said, "No problem."

Veronica breathed a sigh of relief, while also feeling sorry for Eloise.

Eloise had no choice but to leave with Harvey.

Outside, the wind was howling, and the rain was pouring. The parking lot was open-air, and Harvey went to get the car. After a while, a gold Bentley slowly pulled up in front of Eloise. She didn't have an umbrella, nor did she have the courage to ask Harvey to come and get her.

In a few steps, her clothes were soaking wet. Once in the car, she was a little uneasy, afraid that Harvey would be upset. Harvey glanced at her, didn't say anything, and started the car.

The club was halfway up the hill, and the car had to take a few turns before it reached the bottom of the hill. The air conditioning in the car was on, and soon Eloise was shivering, her lips turning pale. At a red light, Harvey threw her his jacket. "Put it on."

Eloise murmured a thank you. She put on his jacket. It felt warm, but Harvey didn't turn off the air conditioning, his gaze stayed on the road ahead. The sky was pouring rain, and the traffic was terrible. The green light came on a few times, but the cars didn't move.

Harvey took out a pack of cigarettes from the glove compartment, lit one up, and then bowed his head. He slowly exhaled a ring of smoke and asked casually, "How long have you been with Max?"

Eloise was taken aback, but she told the truth, "Four years."

Harvey seemed a little surprised, and his gaze lingered on her slender legs, his eyes filled with a hint of desire. He shifted slightly, appearing casual. "How many times have you guys slept together?"
