Tangled Temptations

Chapter 27

After Eloise got discharged, she first went to visit her dad, Angus, in prison. He was in an alright shape, just a bit skinny, but overall he was still healthy. This put Eloise at ease.

Her life continued to be a hustle and bustle. She worked at Crescendo Sound Workshop during the day, and at night, besides her restaurant gig, she had a few students to tutor. It was exhausting, but the pay was decent. Before she knew it, a week had passed. This week, she didn't see Harvey, but she saw him in the entertainment section of the newspaper. He had gone to Rossland.

He attended some swanky party in Rossland.

At the party, Harvey was dressed in a black velvet suit, paired with a white shirt and black bow tie. He stood out in the crowd, looking like a million bucks. Beside him stood a beautiful woman, Harvey's hand lightly resting on her waist, they looked like a picture-perfect couple.

Eloise recognized her as a top-notch actress, and an award winner. Now, she was clinging onto Harvey, her face full of hopes of marrying into high society.

Eloise gently put down the newspaper. She thought to herself, thank God, she hadn't been delusional about her relationship with Harvey. A guy as top-notch as him having women around was no surprise.

Two days later, Eloise was working her part-time job at the restaurant. Harvey showed up. He was wearing a dark blue shirt, grey trousers, and a black coat, looking sharp. He came alone, ordered food but didn't eat much, just silently listening to Eloise play the piano.

Eloise had no idea why he was there; all she could do was try her best to ignore

his gaze.

At ten, the restaurant closed. Eloise tidied herself up, ready to clock out. When she was about to leave, Harvey's seat was already empty. Eloise breathed a sigh of relief, but also felt a bit petty. She should have greeted him, thanked him for looking out for her in the hospital.

As she walked out of the restaurant, a gold Bentley pulled up in front of her. The window rolled down and Harvey's handsome face showed up.

"Get in." He said briefly.

Eloise hesitated for a bit, but eventually opened the passenger door and got in, mainly because his fancy car was too eye-catching and she didn't want to draw attention.

Harvey started the car, and after a moment reminded her to buckle up.

Eloise blushed and quickly fastened her seatbelt. She looked at Harvey, who was now only in his shirt and trousers, his coat casually thrown in the back seat.

"Why are you staring at me? Do I look good?" Harvey asked softly.

What? Eloise's face turned even redder.

Harvey's car stopped at a red light. He turned to look at Eloise, his eyes meaningful.

Eloise couldn't stand it, so she carefully said, "Attorney Horigan, thank you for that day."

Harvey didn't respond.

Eloise plucked up the courage to say again, "There's a bus stop ahead. I can take the night bus."

Harvey's eyes stared into hers intensely. Finally, he said, "Eloise, stay with me for a bit."

He called her name. Eloise's heart softened!

Harvey drove the car to a spot at the foot of a mountain. Only then did Eloise realize there was no one around. It looked like a perfect spot for some mischief.

Harvey seemed to be in a bad mood. He took out a cigarette, lit it, and took a few deep drags. His slender fingers lightly held the cigarette, his arm hanging out the window, swinging back and forth. It was a sight for sore eyes.noveldrama

The temperature at the foot of the mountain was always a bit chilly. Eloise was just wearing a dress, and soon her cheeks turned red from the cold. There was a thin layer of blush appeared at the corners of her eyes, making her look exceptionally cute and charming.

Harvey leaned over to give her his coat, "Put this on."

"Thank you." Eloise's voice was a little shaky. She regretted coming here with him. Tonight's Harvey seemed different.

Her intuition was right. After finishing a cigarette, Harvey leaned in to kiss her. They kissed on and off for a while before Eloise came to her senses. She gently rested her head on his shoulder and said, "Harvey."

She asked quietly, "What are we to each other?"

Harvey quietly looked at her; he understood what she meant.
