Tangled Temptations

Eloise was taken aback, completely surprised.

Orlena? Could she be in this hospital too?

Eloise slightly lifted her eyelids, and under the moonlight, she saw a couple engrossed in a passionate kiss.

Max was holding his fiancée tightly, cradling her face as if she were a precious gem. He was usually hot-tempered, but with Orlena, he was as gentle as a lamb. "This is the last time for tonight. You should go to sleep."

Orlena, with her arms around his neck and an innocent look in her eyes, teased him, "Max, we're engaged already. When will you sleep with me?"

Max wanted to brush off her request, but his gaze found Eloise in the corner. Eloise was standing in the hallway; she must have been watching for a while.

Max instantly pulled Orlena closer, not wanting her to notice Eloise. However, his gaze was fixed on Eloise. It was unexpected for Eloise to be saved. He had been ready to sacrifice her, but her luck was too good. She made it back safely.

How could Orlena know what was going on in Max's mind? She was lost in the sweet love, her delicate fingers gently traced his chest as she whispered, "Max, what are you waiting for?"

Max gave a vague reply. He wanted to see Eloise's reaction, but Eloise just smiled, quickly turning to leave.

A pang of anxiety struck Max. Eloise used to love him so much, she would get upset if he was even a little unhappy, doing everything she could to cheer him up. But now, even if he was about to sleep with someone else, she didn't seem to care!

He couldn't believe... couldn't believe that Eloise felt nothing!

"Do you really want this?"

Orlena couldn't handle such intensity, so she lightly tapped his shoulder and complained, "Max, what's wrong?"

Max paused. His gaze was dark, filled with melancholy. He suddenly picked up Orlena and headed towards the special ward. Orlena shyly rested her head on his shoulder, whispering, "Are you really going to do it?"

Max responded in a soft voice. As he turned to enter the ward, he glanced back, but Eloise was already gone.

Max's eyes dimmed.

Back in the private ward, he and Orlena made love for the first time. Orlena was shy but bold, and Max couldn't say he didn't enjoy it. It just... seemed to be missing something.

By the time they finished, it was already the early hours of the morning. Max sat on the wooden chair on the balcony, a pack of cigarettes on the small round table. He had already gone through four or five. He had everything he wanted, a beautiful fiancée and all the benefits she brought. His body was just satisfied, but his heart felt empty.

He couldn't forget Eloise's mocking laughter and the look of indifference.

A pair of soft arms wrapped around him from behind. Orlena pressed against his back, gently asking, "What are you thinking about?"

Max extinguished his cigarette, pulling his fiancée into his arms, whispering in her ear, "Orlena, no one is better than you."

Orlena snuggled into his arms, grabbed his hand, and said, "So, you must treat me well, understand? You have to love me forever, and obey me!"

Max swallowed hard. He didn't know how to love someone; he only loved the feeling of power! Whether it was Eloise or Orlena, he was just choosing the one who was more beneficial to him.

After a while, Orlena suddenly said, "I saw Ms. Laurent earlier! Max, are you still feeling guilty about not being able to save her? Don't worry, my brother saved her. He's even taking care of her personally. You can relax."

Relax?

Max let out a bitter laugh. His mood plunged even further, thinking about Harvey's special attitude towards Eloise...
