Chapter 50
Chapter 50
The sports car zipped down the street before finally pulling up at a swanky bar.
Elgin stepped out, and the girls passing by couldn’t help but eye him with infatuation.
Tall, handsome, and loaded no wonder he turns heads every time!
“Mr. Ramirez, you’re here,” greeted the bar manager, coming out to meet him. “The usual spot?”
“Mhm, bring the drinks.”
“Right away, sir. Just one moment.”
Elgin strutted over to the booth just to notice Samson was there too.
He nudged him aside and plopped down.
“Look who’s here, Samson remarked. “You look pissed, man. Who owes you money?”
Elgin gave him a once-over, “Shut up, I’m not in the mood for jokes.”
“Ha-ha-ha! Let me guess, you’ve had another spat with Letitia?”
Elgin was silent.
“Couples’ tiffs, man. It will ease away soon, Samson clapped him on the shoulder. “Gotta be the bigger man, you know.” Elgin lowered his head. He was this close to being driven up the wall by Letitia. That woman is a nightmare!
Be a bigger man? She’s carrying another guy’s baby, and he’s supposed to just suck it up?
No way!
Elgin grabbed his beer and started chugging.
“Whoa, straight from the bottle, huh?” Samson applauded, clapping. “In all of AquaCity, only Letitia can get under your skin like that, right?”
“She’s got nothing to do with it!”
“She sure does. I’ve never seen you bat an eyelid, no matter how big a crisis Ramirez Group faces. But here you are, drowning your sorrows!”
The more Samson talked, the more Elgin seethed. If looks could kill, Samson would be dead a thousand times over.
“Gin, you know what it means when a man’s moods are swayed by a woman?”
“What?”
“It means you’ve fallen for her.”
Elgin’s long fingers paused on the bottle.
What? He fell for Letitia? Elgin scoffed, “You must be drunk.”
“Too shy to admit it, huh? Samson patted his shoulder. “Gin, it happens when you don’t notice. And when you realize it, it means you’re already head over heels.”
“What a load of bull.”
“It’s the truth. Think about it. Would any other woman get you this riled up? What about Shela Ward, could she?”
Elgin’s face darkened.
‘See? Samson said smugly. “Hit the nail on the head.”
Thank goodness beer bottles are made of glass, because if it were a can, Elgin would’ve crushed it by now!
Yes, he knew all about Shela’s doing, flaunting by his name and strutting around town, but he simply didn’t care
Even when Shela and Mark played sick to con him, he was just mad at the moment and didn’t take it to heart afterward.
He didn’t want to pick a fight; he just started feeling disgusted and distant towards Shela.
But Letitia? She could get under his skin with just one word! And she’d stick in his mind, lingering there nonstop!
“Come on, man. It’s normal to love a woman at your age,” Samson said. “If you love her, treat her right. Get a hold of her and don’t wait until she’s gone to regret it.”
“Love? Do you even know who Letitia is?”
“I do. The beef between you two is old news, from the previous generation. She’s innocent, and you’re a victim too.”
Elgin replied, “I can’t possibly love her, even if she were the last woman on earth.” Then he stopped talking and just kept on drinking silently, until he was totally wasted.
“Hey, bro, maybe you should stop drinking… If you get drunk, I’ll have to drag you home!”
But it was no use
“Mr. Ramirez!” Shela suddenly appeared. “It really is you, I thought I was seeing things!”
Samson didn’t care much for her and ignored her.
Elgin glanced at her and continued drinking.
“Stop drinking, you’re drunk, Shela said pretentiously. “If you’re upset, you can talk to me.”
While saying he should stop, she didn’t lift a finger to help, even passing the bottle when Elgin reached for it.
Shela secretly hoped Elgin would get drunk.
They say men are easiest to seduce when they’re drunk, and she had to seize the moment!
But Elgin found her annoying, “Get lost!” He pushed her away.
Shela landed on the sofa with a pout, “Mr. Ramirez, it’s me. Don’t you recognize me… Let’s go to a hotel, you need to
rest.
That should be enough; he must be wasted by now. Once they got to the hotel, she was going to employ her charms and fully seduce him into making her his woman.
Shela tried to help Elgin, who seemed genuinely drunk at this point. The women in front of him were just a blur.
“Mr. Ramirez, I’ll always be with you.” Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
He squinted, “…With me?”
“Yes, I won’t leave you, never ever.”
“You can’t leave me anyway…” His words slurred with possession, “Letitia, you’re my woman for life.”
Elgin was truly drunk. He mistook Shela for Letitia, his mind filled with her.
And as she leaned in closer, her red lips almost touching his, a fire ignited within him, burning fiercer and fiercer.
“Mr. Ramirez,” the sweet voice cooed, “Let’s go to the hotel.”
He lifted Shela’s chin, “Trying to seduce me again?”
Shela was shocked; had he seen through her so quickly? He was supposed to be drunk!
Before she could respond, Elgin leaned in, “Alright, Letitia, if that’s what you want, then tonight… tonight I’ll grant your wish!”
Shels heard it clear as day; he called her “Letitia.” He thought she was Letitia!
Shiela was livid. What’s so good about that woman?!
“Mr Ramirez, I’m Shela, she protested, “Take a good look at me.”
‘Shela, not Letitia.”
Elgin paused, then shoved her away, “If you’re not her, then get the hell out!”
He used so much force that Shela fell to the ground.
She bit her lip in fury
She couldn’t believe it – Letitia’s got some serious game, totally bewitched Mr. Ramirez! He’s even got her on his mind
when he’s drunk!
“Mr. Ramirez, what’s so great about Letitia?” Shela complained, “You’re supposed to marry me, not her, she’s just a puppet”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Elgin grabbed her by the collar, “You dare insult her?”
Shela was taken aback, “Mr Ramirez, L…
“Don’t you dare speak ill of her! Not even half a word! Elgin barked a warning, “Only I get to mess with her, no one else
can- got it?!”
His fierce look sent shivers down Shela’s spine: “Alright, alright, I got it…”
Elgin finally let go of her.
Seeing that he was in a foul mood and somewhat unconscious. Shela saw her chance and asked, “Mr. Ramirez, are you here drowning your sorrows in booze because of Letitia?
