TAMING THE BEAST IN HIM ( His Red Phoenix )

Axion was still in bed, still struggling with how to get up. Whenever he was almost starting to get up, he would feel a sharp pain run through his whole body, forcing him to lay back down.

” Damn it! I can’t even sit up ” He cursed under his breath. Just then, the door of his room opened, revealing Phoenix with a tray in her hand. Seeing her, Axion let out an angry slight groan.

” What the fuck are you doing here again?! ” He demanded.

” I came to bring you food. You haven’t eaten anything since you woke up. I also brought the tea aunt Glinda said I should give you so you’ll get better quickly ” Phoenix explained, placing the tray on the table beside the bed.

” I never told you I needed you to bring me food…

” But I know you need it. You don’t have to tell me ” Phoenix cut him off.

” I’m not hungry. Take that tray and get out of here ” Axion snapped with a stern look.

” Are you seriously going to let yourself starve just because I’m the one who brought the food to you? ” Phoenix scoffed in disbelief.

” Is that enough to show you how much I hate you? ” Axion asked with a raised eyebrow. Phoenix, not knowing what to say, let out a sad sigh.

” And besides, how sure am I that the food isn’t poisoned? I mean, you’ll do anything possible to escape this place, right? ”

” If I had wanted to poison you, I would have done that those two days you were unconscious. If I didn’t then, why would I do it now? ” Phoenix questioned. Axion rolled his eyes in anger, knowing she had a point.

” But I also came here to tell you that… your mom called ” She added.

” Why will my mom call you? ” Axion scoffed.

” She didn’t call me… she called you ” Phoenix answered.

” You were unconscious for two days, remember? So your phone was with me ” Axion rolled his eyes.

” Do you seriously think I’d believe my mom talked to you? ”

” Well, she did. I told her when I answered the phone yesterday that I was the maid taking care of you. She called the landline this morning and asked about your health. I told her, you are better now. She said… she was coming tomorrow to visit you ” Phoenix explained, and Axion’s eyes widened a bit. All this while, Phoenix was backing him.

” How do you think she will feel when she comes tomorrow only for her to see that her son isn’t even able to sit up from the bed talk more of walking? Remember, she is still recovering. So seeing you in this condition, I don’t know if it will tamper with her recovery or not ” She shrugged.

Axion glared at her angrily. But deep down, he knew she was right. Kelsey seeing her like this will affect her in a bad way. Not having an option,

” Keep the tray on the table and come help me up ” Axion commanded. A satisfactory smirk crept on Phoenix’s lips. Axion might be stubborn, but she is way stubborn. She also knows how to blackmail someone using their mother.

” Mission accomplished ” She grinned. Keeping a straight face, she turned and headed back to the table, placing the tray on it. She turned to Axion, who was glaring at her.

She took his hands and wrapped them around her neck before wrapping hers around his torso. She successfully helped him sit up. But when she was about to help him stand, because Axion was bigger and heavier, she lost her balance.

” Ahhh ” She exclaimed and they both fell on the bed, she on top of Axion, who let go of her neck.

Their eyes locked and, to Phoenix’s surprise, her heart skipped a beat. For the first time, she started examining Axion’s eyes closely and got lost doing so.

” His eyes look so cute yet terrifying ” She thought to herself.

” How can his eyes be cute and captivating yet he’s a jerk? ” She scoffed on the inside, pouting sadly.

” Is this how you’re going to help me get up? ” Axion asked, snapping her out of her thoughts. Her cheeks flushed immediately but she quickly hid it.

” Sorry ” She mumbled and helped him sit up.

” Enjoy your food ” She added sharply and ran out.

A FEW HOURS LATER

Phoenix came back to check on Axion and was happy to see he already slept off. She walked up to the bed and covered him up with a duvet.

” You’re more peaceful when you’re asleep ” She chuckled lightly.

She headed downstairs and the entrance door wasn’t locked as usual. After Axion turned into a beast two days ago, the magic he used to lock the door weakened, making it easy for Glinda to enter. Now was the only opportunity for Phoenix to go visit her mother.

Not wanting to wake Axion up, she made sure to gently open and close the door.

In an extremely dark cave, footsteps can be heard approaching but the person couldn’t be seen because of how dark the cave was. The footsteps stopped.

” Master ” A feminine voice called.

” You sent for me all of a sudden. Is something wrong? ”

” Do you think I’d summon you if nothing was wrong? ” A hoarse and terrifying voice boomed over the whole cave.

” Sorry for asking Master ” The feminine voice replied.

” 15 years. 15 terrible years, I sent you on a simple mission which till date you’ve done absolutely nothing! ” The voice roared.

” I’m so sorry Master, I just wanted to make sure I’d gained his full trust…

” A trust you weren’t able to gain for 15 years. What made you think you would ever gain that trust? ” The terrifying voice cut the feminine voice off.

” I sent you to him when he was only 12. I sent you to him so you’ll make sure he doesn’t find her. But yet he did, without hesitation. What do you have to say about that?! ”

” I’m sorry Master ”

” That is all you ever say! ” The hoarse voice thundered in anger.

” You’ve become so relaxed enjoying humanity that you’ve forgotten who you truly are and what your mission is ”

” I tried scaring her away from him. I made she had nightmares so she would avoid him, but I’m still surprised as to why she agreed to stay with him ” The feminine voice spoke up, and one could sense the confusion in her voice.

” Because she is naive and stupid! She’s likely to agree to anything! ” The hoarse voice snapped.

” Listen to me carefully. One month… one month is all I will give you to bring him to me. Failure to do that… I’ll end you ” The hoarse voice threatened.

” Yes, Master ” The feminine voice agreed.

” Now leave before I lose it on you and end you right here and now! ”

Monica can be seen seated in a chair, relaxed with her legs crossed. Just then, Lilly appeared and kept a bottle of vodka on the table before her with two glass cups. She opened the bottle and transferred a good amount into the two cups before passing one to Monica and taking the other.

” Have you heard from that stupid daughter of yours? ” Monica asked, as Lilly sat down.

” Nope ” Lilly replied, taking a sip from the cup.

” You know, I’m still surprised as to how stupid that girl is. Sometimes I do doubt whether you trained her. She’s nothing like you ” Monica said.

” She isn’t my daughter, so she can never be like me ” Lilly scoffed.

” It was just so easy to fool her. You should have seen how she was on her knees begging me for help. She was so desperate that she didn’t even mind getting married to an old man. If not for the fact that Mr. Wong was caught, she would have been gone for good by now. ”

” Who knows whether she fell into the hands of another human trafficker? Besides, I haven’t seen or heard from her since then. She must have been dead by now ” Lilly smirked in satisfaction.

” You know, back then, when I was in the hospital, she would always sit beside me and cry her eyes out, begging me to get up and tell her what to do. I tried as much as possible not to burst out laughing then. That would be blowing my cover ” She laughed slightly.

” Doctor Maxwell did a great job, I must admit. And you too. It’s not easy pretending you’re unconscious and acting all sick when you’re perfectly fine ” Monica praised.

” That’s how far I can go for money. If I was able to convince her to forget about her stupid dreams of opening her bakery and strip instead… convincing her to sell herself out just to come up with the money to save her beloved mother would be easy peasy. That’s how gullible, stupid and naive she is…

” It’s not being gullible or being naive, mom… it’s called love ” A voice cut Lilly off. She and Monica immediately turned their heads to where the voice came from and their eyes widened in horror on seeing Phoenix standing by the door, her eyes filled up with tears…
