TAMING THE BEAST IN HIM ( His Red Phoenix )

Immediately Axion stepped into the house, Glinda rushed over to him.

” Where is she? ” She demanded, looking behind him. She let out a slight groan on seeing no one.

” Come on Axion, are you still on about her being a stripper? ” She asked.

” Aunt… relax ” Axion replied.

” I’ll do anything for Mom ” He added and just then Phoenix stepped in. Her eyes were wandering about like she was lost. A tiny smile formed on her lips.

” This place is beautiful,” She thought.

On seeing her, a genuine smile crept up Glinda’s lips too.

” Wow, she is really beautiful and… cute ” She chuckled lightly making Axion roll his eyes.

” Phoenix ” Glinda called, pushing Axion slightly to one side and walking up to Phoenix who was shocked to hear her call her name.

” How come she knows my name? ” She wondered.

” Welcome Phoenix ” Glinda smiled broadly at her and she smiled back.

” Good day ma’am ” She greeted and that made Axion almost hiss.

” Same to you dear. Axion told me so much about you ” Glinda replied making Phoenix look at Axion who rolled his eyes.

” Feel free around us, ok? ” Phoenix reluctantly nodded.

” Where are Tamara and grandma? ” Axion asked, cutting the two off.

” Tamara isn’t back from school yet and Lola went shopping for some groceries ” Glinda responded.

” Ok. Let’s go then, we don’t have much time ” Axion said and left, heading upstairs.

” Come with me dear, ” Glinda said to Phoenix who nodded, still wondering where they were going.

They all got to Kelsey’s room and Phoenix was shocked to see the pale woman lying on the bed. Moved, she walked over and sat down.

” What happened to her? ” She asked as her face softened in pity on seeing how pale Kelsey was.

” Don’t ask questions and do what you came here for ” Axion hissed and Glinda frowned at him.

” Keep shut ” She snapped, pinching him lightly.

” She fell into a deep sleep and never woke up again. She had been in that position for 15 years ” She answered and Phoenix’s face died down in gloom.

” 15 years? ” She murmured in shock, more like astound.

” Yes, dear. That is why axion brought you here since only you can revive her ” What Glinda said made Phoenix fall into confusion.

” Why do they keep saying only I can heal her? ” She wondered.

” What am I supposed to do? ” She said looking over at Glinda only for Axion to shoot her a hard glare.

” What do you mean by what are you supposed to do? ” He scoffed.

” Do what you have to do and revive my mom ” He snapped.

” But I don’t know how to ” Phoenix muttered frankly. Shock ran through Glinda at what she said.

” Wait… don’t you have to ability to heal her? ” She questioned.

” I’m just a random girl, how can I have the potential to heal? ” Phoenix questioned back. A realization drew to Glinda instantly making her gasp.

” Oh heavens! She isn’t aware she is the Red Phoenix yet ”

” Wait… which means… she can’t heal Kelsey just yet. Oh God, how come I wasn’t aware of this? ” All this was what was going on in Glinda’s mind.

Axion ran out of patience, his anger boiling. His eyes turned purple as he shot Phoenix a glare. Walking over to the bed, he grabbed her arm and jerked her roughly up from the bed.

” What do you mean you don’t know how to revive my Mom? ” He growled. Phoenix’s heart jumped in fear and she gulped down nervously.

” Don’t try to play dumb with me Phoenix. I paid you to do this so you better start doing your job ” He glared more intensely at her.

” But… I’m… telling the truth… I don’t know… what to do…

” Shut up! ” Axion roared, finally losing it and Phoenix trembled back in fear. Letting go of her arm, Axion ran his hands through his hair trying to calm down.

” What else do you want Phoenix? Tell me! ” He yelled in anger and a wimp left Phoenix’s lips as she shut her eyes close due to fear.

” Tell me… how much more do you need? Tell me the amount you need so you can heal her! ”

” Axion, calm down ” Glinda said, holding Axion’s wrist but he quickly threw her hand off. Walking over to the wardrobe in the room, he opened a drawer and brought out a bundle of money. Walking over to Phoenix, he threw it to her face making Phoenix stiffen and her face turned pale in shock.

” Is that enough or do you need more, huh?! ” Axion bellowed, tossing another bundle to her face. Looking down, Phoenix tightened her fist in anger as tears flooded her eyes.

Axion walked up to her and grabbed her shoulder tight making her look up at him.

” Tell me… how much do those men pay you in the club? I’ll pay you double… triple of it if that’s what you need. Just cure my Mom, please! ” Phoenix’s lips parted in more shock as she finally let her tears fall.

” Do you seriously… think… I agreed to help you… because… of… money? ” She uttered in disbelief making Axion let out a bitter scoff, letting go of her shoulder.

” What other reason will make you… a stripper… want to help if not money? ” He sneered.

” Axion, that’s enough! ” Glinda shouted at him.

” No aunt… stay out of this ” Axion said clenching Phoenix by her arms, glaring at her with all the loathing in his purple eyes.

Phoenix could see her whole world crumbling down at what Axion said. She froze in shock, praying for the ground to open up and swallow her.

” Do… you… have… a problem with me… being… a stripper? ” She managed to ask, trying hard not to break down in tears. She was peering deep into Axion’s eyes with teary eyes but he seemed not to even care. Letting out a huff,

” Do you seriously think… I’ll want to have anything to do with you… a stripper? ” He asked.

” If not for the fact that you’re a Red Phoenix, then believe me… we wouldn’t cross-part with each other… talk more of me letting you lay your filthy hands on my mom! ” He yelled to her face.

” Stop shedding those pretentious tears and do what I paid you for! ” Axion hissed angrily, tightening his hold on her arms.

” Anyway… what was I expecting? ” He taunted, looking away.

” What good will ever come out from a stripper like you? I still wonder how you’re possibly my Red Phoenix. The only thing you’re good at is entertaining filthy men. Aside from that, you’re nothing but a monster! ”

” And who knows… who knows whether you schemed this whole charade with that Mom of yours just so you’ll get some money! ”

” That’s enough! ” Phoenix thundered back in rage, pushing him away. She has heard enough of his nonsense and couldn’t condone it anymore. Glinda let out a slight whine of frustration.

” How dare you? How dare you bring my mom into this, who do you the fuck do you think you are?! ” She yelled at Axion, vibrating in outrage.

” I don’t care if you have a problem with me, I’m ok with it. Call me whatever name you want to… but don’t you dare talk about my Mom in that manner and don’t you ever question my dignity or I’ll forget the help you gave me! ”

” And what made you think… I wanted to help you because of the money you offered? What made you think my Mom’s sickness was just a charade, huh?! ”

” If I had wanted your money… do you think… I’ll come here in the first place despite knowing I can’t heal your Mom? Tell me! ” Phoenix breathed out in anger.

” For your point of information Axion… I came here because I was moved. I felt sad when you told me your Mom was sick and needed my help though I didn’t quite understand what you meant! ”

” And that is because… I know what it feels like seeing your mother… lying lifelessly on a bed and the worst part… for 15 fucking years! ” She expressed as more tears rolled down her cheeks.

What she said made Axion’s face die down. His anger started ebbing on seeing her tears and his eyes went back to normal. Glinda let out a sad sigh knowing Axion just fucked up.

” I don’t know how to heal your Mom… ” Phoenix sniffed back her tears, turning to look at Kelsey. She bent and took her hand in.

” And I’m so sorry about it. I pray… she gets better soon. I pray you find the so-called Red Phoenix and have her heal her ” She said, placing a kiss on Kelsey’s forehead.

” I’m sorry I can’t do anything for you, ma’am, please forgive me, please ” She pleaded breaking down in tears. She bowed her head in shame, her eyes closed as she cried. Axion too closed his eyes, trying to fight back his tears.

A drop of Phoenix’s tears dripped and landed on Kelsey’s forehead. Immediately a bright glow of light can be seen forming on her forehead. The glow unhurriedly started circulating her whole body.

Axion and Glinda’s eyes magnified on seeing how bright Kelsey was now glowing but Phoenix wasn’t aware yet as she cried even more.

To Axion and Glinda’s surprise, Kelsey unexpectedly stopped glowing. But then, many drops of Phoenix’s tears dropped to her forehead and rolled down her face.

This time around, her face which was all pale and dry slowly started fading, revealing her real face color which was TANNED and SMOOTH…
