Take Me Away

Chapter 86 Ryan Left (Part One)

Chapter 86 Ryan Left (Part One)

It was snowing early in the morning when the people of M City started their day.

Spencer had stayed in Celine's ward the entire night while Fiona had gone home to sleep. She didn't

want to torment herself by seeing their love.

As soon as she reached the hospital, she headed to Ryan's ward. Ryan was sitting on the bed while

several people gathered around him. The silhouette of his well-sculpted body couldn't be hidden under

the humble hospital robe.

Seeing this scene, Fiona stopped right at the door. 'I'll come back when he's alone,' she thought to

herself.

"Hey, Fiona!" Just as she was about to turn around and head back, Sophia rushed to her and stopped

her. "Why are you leaving? You came to see Ryan, right?"

"I'll come back later!" Fiona glanced at the ward again and saw a well-dressed woman wiping her tears.

'That must be his mom,' she thought to herself. Next to the woman stood a middle-aged man who was

somewhat obese. Fiona could tell from observing his features that he bore a lot of resemblance to

Ryan. 'Could he be Ryan's father?

I can't go in when his parents are with him.'

"Don't wait here any longer! Sophia grabbed her arm. "The first thing he asked when he woke up is if

you were all right. You can't leave!"

"Sophia, don't do that..."

Before she could ease herself out of Sophia's grip, the latter pulled her into the ward. "Ryan, look!

Fiona's here!"

Suddenly, all eyes were on her.

"Hi, Fiona!" Ryan straightened up. He'd been eagerly waiting for her arrival. "How are you? Are you all

right?"

"I'm fine." Fiona smiled and greeted his parents. "Nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Wen."

"Hmm," Ryan's father replied coolly. There was a sudden awkwardness in the air.

It was because of her that Ryan had gotten shot in the arm. At least Ryan's father wasn't blaming her

for that, and that was all she could expect from him.

Fiona moved to the side as the ward was a little crowded.

Sophia swallowed, feeling nervous. She felt like she'd pushed Fiona into trouble again.

"Fiona, come over here." Ryan signaled for her to come closer.

"It's okay, Ryan. I'm glad to see that you're all right now. I need to get going."

"Fiona..."

"You seem to be in a hurry, Miss Ji. Are you trying to flee? Ryan took a bullet for you. And you want to

leave now?"

"Father—" Ryan was about to stop his father when Charles interrupted him.

"Father, you never wanted to meet her in the first place. Now that she wants to leave, you won't let her

go. Why is that?"

The man scowled at Charles. Charles always hated to meddle in other people's affairs. It was unusual

for him to defend anyone. But now he was defending Fiona.

The old man had heard a lot about her already, because she had charmed both his sons to the point

where they were willing to go out of line for her.

Fiona was stunned. 'Is Charles really putting in a good word for me?'

The old man waved his hand. "I've stayed up all night looking after Ryan. I'm exhausted! I need to head

back. But keep this in mind, Miss Ji. Not everyone is worthy of my son."

Then, he got up and left with his wife. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

As soon as the door of the ward closed behind them,

Ryan let out a self-deprecating laugh. "My dad is clueless. I'm the one who's not worthy of you, Fiona."

"Ryan..." Fiona frowned.

"Okay, let's stop talking about this." Ryan smiled bitterly.

"Ryan, how is your arm?"

"It's better now." Ryan nodded with a smile.

"Oh, Fiona, sit down!" Sophia nudged Fiona toward the chair next to the bed.

Fiona forced a smile and sat down, feeling a little nervous.

"Charles, why don't we go for a walk?" Sophia asked, tugging Charles' arm.

When Charles didn't move, she pulled harder. "Charles, come on now!"

Charles took a long look at Fiona and then reluctantly stepped out of the ward.

"Ryan..."

"Fiona..."

Once they were alone in the ward, both of them spoke at the same time.

Fiona blushed and looked at Ryan. "You go first."

"I just wanted to see how it feels to say your name. Actually, it's nothing important. You go ahead."

Ryan smiled sheepishly.

"I..." Fiona hesitated. "I've got nothing important to say either. I just want you to rest well and recover. If

it weren't for me, you'd have gone abroad by now. None of this would have happened."

"I volunteered to save you." The smile on Ryan's face didn't falter, but there was a notable hint of

bitterness in his voice. "I'm just glad you're fine."

Fiona pressed her lips together, remembering his father's words. "If you need anything while you're

recovering, remember, I am at your service. After all, I am responsible for this."

Ryan raised his eyebrows and joked, "You hold yourself responsible? Then, will you be my girlfriend till

I recover?"

"Ryan!" Fiona opened her eyes wide in disbelief. "Ryan, you know I—"

"You're married, right?" Ryan said, cutting her off with a desolate smile on his face. "I know. But you

said you'd be responsible and promised to help. This is what I want. It's my dream."

Fiona knitted her brows together. "I'm sorry, Ryan..."

"Every time you talk to me so formally, I feel like you're distancing yourself from me. Last night, at the

airport, when you saw someone point a gun at Spencer, you rushed over to him without thinking twice.

That kind of concern cannot be faked. And I can't watch you get hurt. I think it's best if I went abroad. A

new environment will help me forget you."

Fiona blushed. "I'm sorry, Ryan. You've been so kind to me, but I can't give you anything."

Ryan was really upset. "I really want to pretend to hate you, but I can't control myself. I always fail.

You've completely intoxicated me. I just want to treat you well."

He caught Fiona off guard, leaving her speechless.

"I never had a chance, did I?" Ryan looked at her with scorching eyes.

"I'm sorry..." Fiona lowered her head.

"I want you to say it to my face that you don't feel the same way about me. Then I will give up." It was

the first time that Ryan was being so persistent. He insisted on adding salt to his wound by saying, "If

you do that, I won't bother you again."

Fiona's eyes reddened. "I'm sure you'll find someone better in the future."

"Tell me that you don't have feelings for me." He was hell-bent on getting a reply to his question.
