Take Me Away

Chapter 142 An Inconclusive Argument

Chapter 142 An Inconclusive Argument

Spencer trembled with empty eyes as Fiona grabbed him by the collar and shook him.

"Spencer!" Fiona cried, her voice quivering with more and more emotion. "How can you be so cruel?

Why are you so heartless? I won't let you hurt my baby a second time! It's better if you just kill me than

kill my child!"

A trace of pain flashed through Spencer's eyes as he thought of their first child.

Suddenly, his expression turned dark and fierce as he pleaded,

"I swear, this will be the last time." He stroked her hair gently, eyes filled with sorrow as he thought of

their baby. "I promise that from today, I'll do whatever you want and I'll believe every word you say,

okay?"

Fiona furiously swatted his hand away. "Why aren't you believing me now, then? You didn't even see

who the woman in the video was, right? Anyway, we can get a paternity test for the child. Isn't that

right? Yes... A paternity test for the baby..." Upon saying that, Fiona turned to leave in a hurry. But

Spencer grabbed her arm and stopped her.

"Not now. We can't afford to waste any time. I can't let this child grow inside you for any longer..." He

looked at her belly with an exasperated look on his face.

"This is your child, Spencer!" Fiona retorted, unknowingly digging her nails into her flesh.

"What if it's not? I just can't let this baby grow inside you! I won't allow it!" he roared. "I can't let you hurt

my baby either!

I don't care whether you accept it as your child or not. I won't let you harm it in any way!" Fiona yelled

back, her eyes red with rage.

"You want to keep the baby even if it's Charles'?" Spencer looked at her intently.

Fiona was so angry that she didn't even think before replying, "Yes! I won't let you kill this baby even if

it's Charles'!"

"Fiona!" Spencer bellowed, unable to accept the words that were coming out of her mouth. He

squeezed her shoulders tightly and opened his eyes wide. "How can you—"

"Don't touch me!"

In the corridor of the infirmary, people were casually passing by the ward when they suddenly heard

screaming, followed by the voices of two people quarreling. They immediately went over to the window

to see what was happening.

Among them was Eric, who gasped in shock when he saw Fiona and Spencer arguing inside the room.

A wave of dread came over him.

Fiona had a knife in her hand, and she was pointing it at the space between Spencer's eyebrows.

Her hands quivered as she gritted her teeth and looked into Spencer's eyes.

For a brief moment, the ward was as silent as a grave. Then, a bitter smile appeared on Spencer's

face.

"Fiona, you do know that I love you a lot, right?"

"Not another word. Don't ever say that again! You're the one who had sex with Celine, but now, you're

accusing me of having sex with someone else and even trying to get rid of our child. How can you be

so vicious, Spencer?" Tears sprang to Fiona's eyes but she continued to glare at Spencer, resentment

burning in her heart. She let out a shaky breath and shook her head in determination before continuing,

"I can't be here. I have to go back to M City...no, S City. And you're going to let me go without causing

any trouble!"

Spencer stared straight at Fiona without any reaction on his face. "I'll take you to S City once you're

done with the abortion."

"No! I won't let you hurt my baby." All of a sudden, she brought the knife close to her pale and slender

neck. "Otherwise..."

"No, Fiona, don't!" In the blink of an eye, Spencer placed his hand over hers and gently held the knife.

"Don't hurt yourself, hurt me instead."

Looking at the sincere expression on Spencer's face, Fiona was so stunned that she almost forgot to

react. At that moment, she felt a sharp pain in her wrist and was forced to loosen her grip on the knife.

She saw Spencer's hand swiftly handle the blade and turn it away from her. It all happened in the

space of a fraction of a second.

That moment, Fiona realized that she hadn't been threatening him at all. Spencer had just been playing

along so that he could disarm her.

"I taught you this trick to defend yourself against bad guys when you're in danger, not so that you could

use it against me. I don't mind if you even want to stab me, Fiona. But I have something I need to do

before that," Spencer said in a calm voice and stood up to leave.

Right before he walked out of the room, he turned and said, "My decision will never change. Take a

rest. I'll be back soon to discuss this matter again."

Fiona collapsed onto the bed, feeling like all the life had been sucked out of her.

As Spencer closed the door behind him, he held onto the doorknob and scanned the people in the

corridor. Then, he turned to the nurse and said, "Don't disturb her."

"Mr. Cheng!"

his soldiers called as they rushed to his side.

"Mr. Cheng, are you all right?"

"I'm fine." Spencer waved them away.

Leo frowned and walked over to him. "Spencer, what's going on? Did you even consider for a second

where we are now? Don't mess this up by letting your personal matters get in the way!"

"Leo, I am well aware of that. I will take full responsibility for the troubles I cause you and the others.

Besides, it's not such a big deal,"

Spencer said blankly. Leo sighed and shook his head. "How did you and Fiona end up like this? I need

you to explain this to me now!"

"I'm afraid I can't do it right now. I have to get ready. I'm going out tonight," Spencer said, narrowing his Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

eyes.

"Where are you going?" Eric inquired, rubbing his temples. Lately, Spencer was always leaving all of

them out of the loop. It was frustrating to deal with.

As expected, Spencer just turned away without replying.

"Spencer, I have something to ask you." George had wheeled over after hearing the commotion as

well. His voice was dripping with hatred. He couldn't believe that Spencer had treated Fiona so badly.

"I don't want to talk right now," Spencer replied coldly and walked away, leaving everyone shocked.

After taking a few steps, Spencer saw a doctor walking past him. He suddenly grabbed the doctor by

his collar and questioned him in a low voice, "Can a woman tell if she's pregnant after just three days of

having sex?"

"What?" The doctor was so taken aback that it took him a moment to understand Spencer's question.

He then answered in a shaky voice, "Three days is too short to determine pregnancy. It's not possible."

Spencer's heart sank when he heard the doctor's reply. However, he maintained an emotionless look

on his face and loosened his grip on the doctor's collar before disappearing from the crowded corridor.

George thumped the wheelchair hard, vexed by his own inability to do anything as he watched Spencer

walk away indifferently. He swore to stand up again so that he could fight Spencer like a real man.

Then, he wheeled himself to the window of the ward. Looking at Fiona's trembling body on the bed, he

couldn't help but feel sympathetic towards her. However, he didn't try to enter the room. 'I'll give her

some time to digest what she went through today,' he thought to himself.

When night fell in P City, the sky gradually changed from a warm red color to a dark and starless gray.

Spencer had already asked to change his dorm room, now that he and Fiona had very little luggage.

He packed up their things and was just about to leave when he saw Celine.

With his sportswear and the backpack resting on his back, it was obvious that he was going out.

Taking advantage of Spencer's surprise, Celine quickly walked over to him and grabbed his clothes

with a pitiful look in his eyes. "Spencer, are you avoiding me?"

"Yes," Spencer replied indifferently.

Celine gritted her teeth, feeling like she had been slapped. However, she had no choice but to continue

this game. "I know you don't want to see me. Everything that happened is my fault. I didn't push you

away because I wanted to be with you. I never once thought of breaking you two apart, but..." She

touched her belly and asked, "But what about this baby?"

Spencer felt a pang of guilt, but there was a trace of doubt in his eyes. The doctor had said that it was

impossible to check if a woman was pregnant just three days after having sex. But Spencer couldn't

understand why Celine would lie to him. After all, the truth would be revealed as time went by.

"You can't keep the baby," he blurted out immediately without any hesitation.

Celine flashed him a bitter smile. "Of course, I can't keep it. But I still want to know if we are no longer

siblings—"

"Stop it, Celine." Spencer interrupted her ruthlessly. "I'm sorry for what I did that night. I'll do almost

anything to make up for it. But don't ask me for love or marriage, it won't happen."

As soon as Celine heard his words, she became distressed. She had gone through all that trouble just

to get Spencer back. But now, it looked like she would get nothing in return.

When he heard no reply from her, Spencer looked up at the sky and said, "I have something to deal

with. I'm leaving now. You take a rest. We can talk about it after I come back."

"Where are you going?" Celine inquired him. "That's none of your business."

Spencer turned around to walk out when Celine suddenly called after him. "Please be careful,

Spencer."

Her voice was full of genuine concern. "I know."

Spencer hurried out the door, feeling guilty and disgusted with himself. The situation had spiraled

completely out of control. Nothing was happening the way he had expected it to.

His wife was pregnant with another man's child while his sister was pregnant with his child. At this

point, his life was just one big joke.

Suddenly, he frowned as a thought flashed through his mind.

'I believed Celine without giving it a second thought, but why didn't I believe what Fiona said? Do I

really believe that Charles forced her to sleep with him? If he didn't, then...' As he began to doubt his

own convictions, Spencer's heart shattered. Maybe the child in Fiona's womb wasn't Charles' after all.

His love for Fiona had made him act in haste after seeing the video. It was possible that in his panic, he

had made the wrong judgment.

He clenched his fists and walked faster.

In the hospital ward, Fiona had been sitting stiff on the bed for a long time. She refused to eat or drink

no matter who came and offered her food.

Her heart felt completely empty. She just tuned out all the noise around her with her eyes shut tight.

The cool ward was dimly lit by the moonlight shining through the windows.

Suddenly, the door opened.

A tall figure slowly walked towards the bed.
