Chapter 124 He Abandoned You (Part One)
Chapter 124 He Abandoned You (Part One)
Thunder rumbled in the dark sky.
As lightning flashed overhead, the blustery wind lifted up Fiona's skirt. She tried to stay calm as she
looked at the sight in front of her. Around twenty to thirty armed bodyguards were standing behind
Charles with their guns aimed at her.
Charles walked toward her with a light smile on his face, as if meeting an old friend at the park. "What's
the matter? Are you surprised that I'm here?"
As Charles inched closer, Fiona stepped further away from him, her face turning as white as a sheet. Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Trembling with fear, she asked him, "What are you doing here?"
Charles laughed mirthlessly as he raised his head and looked up at Cherry Grove Residence. "This is
my home. Why shouldn't I be here? But you, on the other hand... what are you doing here? T Country
isn't safe at night. You shouldn't be running around at this hour."
Fiona opened her mouth to say something, but stopped and reevaluated the situation she was in. She
closed her eyes, feeling disheartened and upset. But when she cleared her mind and slowly opened
her eyes, she had a strong and determined expression on her face. "You've known the truth for quite a
while now, haven't you? You knew about my plan to escape and you were waiting here to catch me,
weren't you?"
"Fiona, sometimes you're so brilliant that it almost pains me." Charles nodded. "I just came here to see
if you would really go back to Spencer. It looks like the answer is yes. Be that as it may, you have a
price to pay for your choice."
As soon as he finished his words, Charles raised his hands in the air and clapped loudly. Two
bodyguards stepped out of the darkness, dragging a woman with torn clothes and unkempt hair.
As the street lamp gradually illuminated her face, Fiona realized that the woman was none other than
Leona!
"Leona?" she cried, unable to control herself. When she tried to rush to Leona's side, the bodyguards
stopped her.
Charles stared at Leona coldly and watched her get knocked down to the ground by his bodyguards
like she was a bag of sand.
"Leona! Are you okay?" Fiona cried, desperately struggling against the bodyguards as she tried to save
Leona. The sight of the curled up Leona on the ground was too much for her to bear. "Charles! What
are you doing to her?"
Charles merely shrugged and smirked in response. Leona clutched her top with her scrawny hands
and groaned, "I... I feel terrible..." Before she could finish her words, she completely collapsed on the
ground and groveled to the bodyguards to stop hitting her.
At that point, she was devoid of her honor and dignity. She grabbed onto the pair of feet she could
reach and begged helplessly. "Please..."
At this moment, Charles casually turned to Fiona. "Do you know what was Leona's mistake? She knew
about your plan to escape, but she chose to keep mum and pretended to be unaware of it! I don't need
someone who doesn't obey me."
Then, he raised his leg and brutally kicked Leona in her abdomen.
"Leona!" Fiona screamed in a mixture of horror and agony.
Leona groaned in pain as her body rolled a few feet away. "Leona!"
Fiona cried again as she desperately punched and slapped the bodyguard blocking her way. Then, she
turned to Charles with reddened eyes and yelled, "Charles, you monster! Don't hurt her! Hurt me
instead! You're a demon!"
"Demon?" Charles waved his hand, and his bodyguards stepped away from Fiona. He walked closer to
her and snarled, "I'm only showing her what happens when someone disobeys me. You should also
understand that it's not wise to run away from me."
Fiona looked at him with alert eyes. There was nothing blocking her way now, and yet she felt like she
couldn't step forward. "I won't surrender! I am going to leave!" she said in a determined tone. Even
though she had no idea what Charles' real identity was, it was quite clear to her that he wasn't a good
man.
"You want to leave that bad?" Charles roared all of a sudden. The monster in him had been awakened.
"You ungrateful bitch! Don't blame me for what I'm going to do!" he bellowed as if he were going to
violently devour Fiona.
"What are you going to do?" Fiona stammered as she took a step back, terrified. She clenched the
phone in her hand with all the hope she had left in her.
"There's no point in holding on to your phone, so don't," Charles warned her when he saw the phone in
her hand. He finally calmed down a little and sighed. "Do you really think Spencer is going to come and
save you?"
"What have you done to him?" Fiona blurted out, unable to control herself. "What did I do to Spencer?
I didn't do anything. It was he who made the choice," Charles replied with a smug smile.
Fiona frowned, looking baffled all of a sudden.
Charles continued, "I'm happy to clear all your doubts. I blocked your cellphone signal. The messages
you've been getting recently are all from me."
"What?" When Fiona heard this, she felt so weak that she staggered back and almost tripped and fell.
'It's no wonder I felt that something was sketchy. I was in such a hurry to leave that I was too reckless!'
"Do you know how I blocked the signal so effortlessly?" Charles took the opportunity to walk closer to
her. Wrapping his arm around her waist, he pinched her cheek and said with a cruel voice, "Because...
the person you've been thinking of all this time has left you! He has abandoned you! He has gone to a
different place, risking his life to save Celine. He's not going to come for you anymore! Don't be foolish,
Fiona."
'Abandoned me? To save Celine?'
The thunder in the sky
seemed to get louder and sharper, ringing in her ears. With a heavy heart, Fiona sniffed. Her eyes
opened wide as she said, "No... That's absurd! You are lying!" Her mind was clouded and she couldn't
think straight. She forced her lips into a smile, which made her face look worse after all the crying.
Charles snorted. "Why would I lie? You don't believe my words?"
"No, I don't. Of course I don't believe you!" Fiona shook her head and roared as she suppressed her
impulse to cry. She covered her ears with her hands, trying to block out everything that he was saying.
Looking at her trembling body, Charles felt sorry for her. He smiled wryly and said, "Fiona, I know you
believe my words. You're just scared to admit the truth. When it comes to Celine, you've always felt
insecure. You don't know for sure if Spencer loves you more than he loves her, so you try to avoid
acknowledging the fact that he has left you for good."
"No, that is not true!" Fiona raised her head and looked at him with tears running down her face.
"There's still time..."
