Sweet Revenge: Jace & Emerald

Chapter 82

“Where are we going?” Emerald asked her husband in surprise. She thought that after leaving the precinct, they would head straight to their offices. But she noticed that her husband was taking a different route.

“After all the stress you’ve been through, I think you deserve a break. Don’t think about work for now,” Jace replied, glancing at her after ensuring the road was safe. Emerald rolled her eyes at him, which made both of them laugh. “Kidding aside, dear wife. With everything that happened, you’ve been through so much worry and stress, so I want to make you happy and take care of you today.”

“It’s up to you, I’m just worried about your company,” Emerald replied with concern. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.

“Just like you have Creep, Daryl, and Elise in your companies, I also have Kyle. I can rely on my friend, so you have nothing to worry about,” young Higginson explained. “Besides, it’s not like I do this every day.”

Emerald didn’t respond and just let her husband do what he wanted. She knew there was nothing she could do once Jace had decided, and she couldn’t stop him anyway since he was the one driving.

Young Morgan furrowed her brow when she noticed they were heading toward their former home. She was about to ask again but decided against it. “Don’t get out of the car yet.” Though puzzled, Emerald obeyed her husband as he parked the car in front of his mansion.

Jace got out of the car, walked over to the passenger seat, and opened the door for Emerald before he offered her his hand. Young Morgan was a bit surprised because it was rare for him to do that, which made her feel special and cherished.

However, she couldn’t help but feel sad as she remembered how Jace used to open the door for Emerose. Emerald shook her head, refusing to dwell on the unpleasant memories, and took her husband’s hand that was now extended in front of her.

Emerald got out of the car with Jace’s assistance, and he guided her inside the mansion. This was her second time returning to their former home. The first was just a few days ago, and she felt things were different now-different in a good way.

“Good morning, Sir Jace, Ma’am Emerald.” The butler greeted them with a smile, which the couple also returned with nods and smiles. “The kitchen is ready, Sir.”

Emerald looked confused at her husband, wondering why the kitchen was prepared. “Let’s go, dear wife.” With that, they continued walking toward the kitchen.

Upon arriving, Jace let go of Emerald’s hand, took off his coat, and draped it over the back of a chair at the kitchen table while young Morgan watched his every move.

“Sit down and relax,” Jace said again as he headed to the kitchen counter, took a folded apron from the top, and put it on. Emerald’s eyes widened as she realized what her husband was planning, and she couldn’t help but smile while watching him prepare the ingredients for cooking.

While chopping onions, Jace glanced up to see his wife staring intently at him. “You look handsome,” Emerald couldn’t help but comment, making young Higginson chuckle.

“I should be if I want to match your beauty,” Jace responded while arranging the beef in a rectangular glass baking dish. Emerald decided to leave him to his cooking, knowing it would take some time, while they continued to chat.

Jace placed the meat in the oven and then turned his attention to Emerald. “Don’t tell me you still don’t have any help in this house except for your butler.”

“After you left, Mom sent people to stay with me because the whole house turned into a jungle, and she was worried about me since I wasn’t leaving the house. Or, more accurately, your room,” Jace replied as he walked over to the kitchen table and sat down in the chair next to Emerald.

“So where are your helpers? Why did I only see the butler? And… my room?”

“First, I gave the helpers the day off because I wanted it to be just us in the house. Second, yes, your room. The room you used when you were still here.”

“You should have stayed in your bedroom, not mine!” Emerald exclaimed in disbelief.

“But your things were there, reminding me of you. Your bed, pillow, and blanket were there. I feel like I can see you sleeping when I’m in that room. You didn’t know, right? I used to go into your room every night to watch you sleep. You were so beautiful, and you had no idea how much I restrained myself from waking you up with my hugs and kisses.” Emerald was speechless; she didn’t realize that her husband would confess to her.

“Every night, it felt like I was punishing myself because I wanted to tell you how much I loved you– how much I wanted you. Still, I couldn’t because of a pointless revenge not meant for you.” Jace’s eyes were teary as he said those words. He wanted to tell his wife how he felt for a long time, but he couldn’t until she had already left him.

Emerald stared at her husband, unable to believe what he was saying. She never imagined that he felt that way and that she had been completely unaware. She thought that if Jace had asked or told her the reason for his revenge, she could have explained things to him.

On the other hand, young Morgan realized that no matter how much she explained, her husband wouldn’t have listened back then. She knew he was blind and deaf to everything she would have said because of the pain caused by what happened to his brother. That’s why, even though he loved her so much, he still hurt her. Emerald cupped her husband’s face and said,

“I’m actually thankful that you made a mistake because if you hadn’t, you might have ended up with a different Emerald and not me.” After that, she kissed Jace, who responded with equal passion.
