Chapter 391
Chapter 391
He had no choice but to send a discreet warning to Wyatt. If he wanted to stay alive, and if he wanted
his family to stay alive, he’d better keep his mouth shut.
As soon as he thoughts things were looking good, he received news that Chad was fine. This time,
Chad’s name was already set in stone for the position of squadron leader.
And it wouldn’t be changed!
“Boss, we ran into the Cedillo family at the hospital today.”
“What?” Finley was taken aback.
Holly had a cold and went to the hospital for a check-up. Could it be that she happened to run into Mia
who was also there for a check-up?
However, coincidences like this do happen. Mia had chosen today to go for a prenatal check-up.
There was something that angered Finley even more. “Today, Holly actually spoke with someone from
the Cedillo family.”
Finley quickly turned around. “With who?”
“Mia.”
Hearing that it was a girl who Holly talked to, Finley relaxed slightly.
She was just a girl, an ordinary student. She was innocent and not as cunning as the Cedillo family.
However, he still didn’t let his guard down. “What did they talk about?”
Unlucky Tom had to say, “Holly said I am too controlling and wouldn’t tell me what they talked about.
But, I don’t think the Cedillo family noticed me. As soon as I spotted them, I immediately hid Holly.”
After Tom finished speaking, he suddenly remembered an incident when he was visiting someone.
“Molly is completely different now compared to sixteen years ago. When I went to see Chad today, she
noticed me and we had a brief encounter. I also interacted with Chad.”
Finley's aged and murky eyes looked at his trusted aide who had been following him for decades.
“Tom, this isn’t like you.”
Today, he almost got discovered by the Cedillo family, allowed Holly and Mia to converse, and even
had a face-to-face conversation with Molly and Chad. This was too reckless and careless.
Tom knew he had been neglectful. He spent the afternoon in the training room punishing himself.
“Did Molly recognize you?”
Tom shook his head. “No.”
He frowned after saying that. “But Chad gave me a look at the end. I suspect he remembered my eyes
and guessed that I was the one who hit him with a car. But, I’ve done some work around my eyes.”
Every seemingly insignificant moment of a cop could not be missed, as any small detail could
potentially expose oneself.
Finley said, “You should lay low for a few days. It’d be best if you warned Ellory and Kyle in West
Meadows. I heard… Leo went to West Meadows alone.”
“Understood! This time, I won’t let you down, boss.” Concerned, Tom asked, “What about the Marshal
family?”
The Calder Corporation, like a greedy snake, had enveloped the Marshal Group and was slowly
devouring it. The company seemed to be beyong saving.
Finley gritted his teeth. “Out of the three, I can only save one.”
Naturally, he’d choose to save the most influential one. The implication was clear to Tom. They were
giving up on the pawn, Brian.
When Andre turned his sights on the Marshal Group, the Marshal family became an empty shell, and
Brian became a burden. He couldn’t risk exposing himself to save someone who wouldn’t benefit him.
So, he gave up and decided to find someone else.
“We need to find a struggling company soon, and investigate their family situation and background. We
need to find a new puppet.” Finley said heavily.
“Understood.”
Tom thought of Holly’s unusual behavior today and said to Finley, “Boss, do you want to go see Holly?”
Finley didn’t want to go. He was comfortable in his old house. But he was worried about what Holly and
Mia had discussed today. Tom couldn’t find it out, so he had to go.
“Take me there.”
A private villa sat on the outskirts of town. Late at night, a car parked in front of the villa.
Tom opened the door for Finley to get out. Then, he crossed his arms together and stood in front of the
car. “I’ll wait for you at the entrance.”
Finley stepped into the villa. It was already late, so Holly was asleep. When he arrived, the servants
woke Holly up.
When she found out that Finley was there, she immediately got up to greet him.
Finley took off his coat and went straight to the bedroom with Holly. He sat on the edge of the bed. “I
heard from Tom that you were somewhat upset when you went to the hospital today?”
Remembering how Tom treated her like a prisoner, Holly nodded angrily. “I’m supposed to be your
closest person, but he doesn’t seem to care about me. Finley, can you accompany me to my check-ups
in the future? I don’t want him to come with me. People might think he’s the father of my child.
Someone even asked today.”
Finley’s inner alarm started ringing. “Who asked?”
“I don’t know that woman. She’s also pregnant. She saw me alone and asked about my husband.”
Holly told Finley about meeting Mia.
Finley asked, “Holly, did you tell her our names?”
Holly shook her head. She felt embarrassed, so she had to hide her relationship with Finley. The
woman was just a passing acquaintance, a fellow pregnant woman she chatted with briefly. She
certainly wouldn’t disclose too much to her.
Holly thought she was being clever. “Of course not. You’re so famous, and we’re not even legally
together yet. If some people found out, they might investigate you.” Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
Finley looked at the woman beside him, who was carrying his bloodline. “The woman you met today,
including her family and friends, you shouldn’t speak a word to them from now on.”
“Why?”
Sensing Holly’s rebellious attitude, Finley didn’t explain. Instead, he used a gift to divert her attention. “I
can’t accompany you to your check-ups. But if you like any jewelry or houses, tell the maid. You’re not
in a position to move around. Just ask the maid to buy them for you.”
…
And so, Finley spent the night at the villa. The next day, just before dawn, he left the villa.
On the way, Finley instructed the driver, “Find another hospital, and transfer all of Holly’s medical
records there. From now on, she’ll go there for check-ups.”
He couldn’t always gamble so recklessly. Crossing paths with Mia during every medical checkup was
dangerous. The risk was too high. He was bound to be exposed sooner or later.
At present, he had no interest in dealing with the Cedillo family; sidestepping them seemed like a good
strategy.
Molly was at the hospital. She had bought breakfast for her brother. As she stood there eating a bagel,
she voiced her suspicions, “There’s no patient by the name of Smith here. Can you check into that
person’s identity for me? I think he’s up to no good.”
Chad said, “I can’t just do that. That would be an abuse of power.”
He picked up a cup of milk, inserted a straw and asked, “Which one is sugar-free?”
“They all have sugar.”
Chad casually scolded her, “Are your teeth not hurting anymore? You’re back to having sugar.”
Molly peeled a boiled egg and passed it to Chad, saying, “There’s a leaf tattoo on his hand. It’s very
familiar. I feel like I’ve seen it before, but I still can’t remember after thinking about it for the whole
afternoon and whole night. I remember the image though. It’s a pair of hands, with a leaf tattoo.”
Upon hearing Molly’s words, Chad directly asked, “You suspect he’s related to your kidnapping sixteen
years ago?”
After hesitating, Molly shook her head. “Actually, I can’t remember. I don’t know if it’s my imagination or
a hallucination, but I feel like I saw him when I was a child.”
