Chapter 1299
Hansen was in a bit of a mood when something new caught his eye. "Sweetheart, why do you say 'the strength of two arms"?"
"Well, one arm from Mia, and one from me. That makes two, but... why does it sound a bit like we're being cheeky?" Jade hesitated, her attention getting pulled away by the distraction.
The father-daughter duo had a knack for getting sidetracked, but the ever- practical Mrs. Cedillo nudged the conversation back on course. "Dad, you lost at cards, so you owe us a penalty sticker."
Molly jumped in, "Oh right, Dad, you were the 'landlord' last round, so now you owe two stickers."
Hansen grumbled, "I'm done with this game. It's no fun anymore."
Later on, Hansen went off to chat about the wonders of opera with Grandma Aubree and Grandpa Elmer, pulling Wayne along because Grandma Aubree and Grandpa Elmer swore he had a knack for opera. Cradling his grandson, Hansen coaxed, "Sweetie, give Grandpa a little opera performance."
The little one, who could barely say "mom," looked utterly puzzled by his family's antics.
As soon as the baby made a noise, the elders excitedly declared, "Look, he's singing opera!"
Meanwhile, Madison, Coleen, and Naomi were lounging together, their conversation drifting from little kids to their grown-up children. Madison, a touch envious, turned to Anya. "Leo's all grown up now; I don't have to worry about him. My son still acts like he's stuck in his teenage years, childish every day. Not interested in dating, all about his hobbies, even dreams about his 'sweetie.""
Coleen chimed in, "It's all about timing. Remember Chad? Loads of people wanted to set him up, but he only had eyes for a certain someone. He'd spend his money on her whims and put up with her moods. Even as an adult, she needed her brother to tag along for shopping, and he had to drive her to and from school every day."
"It's all about timing. When it's right, it'll happen. Cooper is still young; no need to rush."
Naomi, pretty confident about her future daughter-in-law, agreed, "That makes sense. And Leo, he's been teased by Mia so many times, and Molly's given him a hard time more than once. I was worried he'd end up on his own. But now, wherever he goes, he's got a little shadow following him."
That little shadow was, of course, his Anya.
At that moment, the three women's gaze fell on their "daughters."
Molly, Mia and Anya were sitting together watching a movie. Jade excitedly said, "I downloaded this horror movie just for today. The plane's packed, so we won't get scared."
Anya had brought the snacks, Mia had thrown a blanket over the three of them, and Molly had started the movie.
Leo wandered up behind them and
after glancing at the movie, remarked, "Are you three seriously watching a plane crash horror movie white flying?"
The three women simultaneously rolled their eyes at Leo. "Chad, can't you just zip it? Auntie will smack you, and your other aunt will scold you, and I'm not stepping in they taunted.
Leo realized he was outnumbered and held up his hands in surrender. "Alright, I'll zip it."
Before heading off, he tilted Anya's chin up, made her look at him, and quickly leaned down to plant a kiss on her lips.
Nearby, two married women teased, "Aww, we're not blind. We saw that!"
Anya's cheeks flushed a bright pink, her heart racing, "Aunties, focus on the movie."
The three women settled back into their movie-watching groove, eyes glued to the
screen.
Half an hour later, after Henry had his fill of snacks and drinks, he was ready to be rocked to sleep by his mom.
But where was she?
Henry spotted her, completely absorbed in the movie, her eyes squinted with tension. So, he toddled over.noveldrama
