Chapter 981 Turn Me Into Blaze
Chapter 981 Turn Me Into Blaze
Cameron felt somewhat relieved as he observed that she seemed fine.
“Did you guys destroy the Rogers family? Kurt just contacted me, asking me to take down the Venom Valley within three days, and then exchange the White family's seal for Blaze,” he asked.
Bailey couldn't help but scoff when she heard that. “That jerk sure reacts quickly. As soon as he found out that Mr. Broderick was doomed and that he'd lost his backer to use as cannon fodder, he immediately shifted his target, threatening us with Blaze.”
With that, she turned her head toward Artemis and asked, “Could you possibly ask Old Mr. White to stage a play with us, allowing us to capture him?”
Artemis flashed a smile. “As long as it's something you want, I can make it happen for you.”
Bailey shot him a disgruntled look. Isn't he talking too big? If I want the stars in the sky, would he be able to pluck some for me?
Ignoring the arrogant man, she turned to face Cameron once again and said, “The forces under Kurt have already been secretly eliminated by Old Mr. White. He's like a tiger that's lost its teeth now, no longer posing any real threat. His only bargaining chip is Blaze. When the time comes for negotiations, I'm afraid you'll have to step in personally. From what I know about that jerk, he won't easily hand over Blaze to you unharmed. You must think of a way to temporarily restrain him to ensure Blaze's safety.”
Cameron nodded. “I understand. To subdue him, we can only resort to using poison. I'll come up with something right away.”
Having said that, he hurriedly made his way to the laboratory.
Artemis had initially considered carrying his wife back to their room to rest, but Bailey subconsciously halted him. “Let's go to the infirmary instead. I won't feel at ease until we check on Juliana's condition.”
Even though Cameron had called her early in the morning, assuring her that Juliana had pulled through and had been administered a toxin to counteract the poison, she still couldn't help but worry.
Artemis couldn't say no to her, so he carried her to the infirmary.
After enduring more than ten hours of torture, Juliana had depleted all her energy. By the time Bailey and Artemis arrived, she was sound asleep in bed.
Zeke's expression suddenly darkened when he noticed Bailey's pale face. He asked in a serious tone, “Have you been hurt again?”
What does he mean by “again?”
Bailey couldn't help but roll her eyes.
Zeke directed his stern gaze toward Artemis as he observed her puffing her cheeks in disgruntlement.
“You took her with you, and look what happened! How are you going to explain this to me?” he asked.
Artemis felt wronged.
He didn't want her to take risks, but when she threatened him and even accused him of treating her like a caged pet, he couldn't bear such an accusation. In the heat of the moment, he reluctantly agreed.
“Um, Zeke, her injury isn't serious. It's just a scrape; a few days of rest, and she'll be fine,” Artemis reassured.
Just a scrape? The bullet had pierced through her shoulder, and he actually had the audacity to say it's just a scrape?
Bailey couldn't help but snicker inwardly. However, after meeting his pitiful gaze, she found herself somewhat reluctant to reveal his lie.
Zeke was too stern, and Artemis was understandably worried about offending his brother-in-law, fearing it might jeopardize his chances of marrying Bailey.
After Artemis settled her down on the chair next to the bed, she extended her other arm and reached for Juliana's wrist to check her pulse.
A moment later, her slightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed. “Although it's a mutated toxin, its toxicity is still far less than that of the Soul Reaper. Now that she has been bled, two-thirds of the poison within her body has been flushed out. The remaining one-third can be diluted through a method of fighting poison with poison.”
Her statement, essentially aligning with what Cameron had said, completely reassured Zeke.
“All right, there's no need for you to worry yourselves sick over this. You'd better take this injured girl home and make sure she gets the rest she needs. If this continues, her frail body might not last a few
more months,” Zeke urged.
“Why do I get the impression that ever since Zeke got together with Juliana, he's been treating me poorly?” Bailey questioned.
Artemis carried her outside and said while walking, “You don't need them to like you. You have me to pamper you, and that's more than enough.”
Bailey cracked a smile. “You're right. In that case, carry me back and pamper me thoroughly.”
That sounded somewhat like a pickup line, and Artemis' gaze gradually grew intense. However, upon touching the wound on her shoulder, he managed to suppress the surge of desire within him.
She was already severely injured, and if he were still aroused, he would be nothing less than a monster. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
“Don't tempt me, or once you're better, I won't easily let you off the hook,” he threatened.
She was not the least bit frightened. Oh, how scary! He's just going to teach me a harsh lesson in the room at most. I enjoy it, too. That's not a threat to me at all.
Artemis was both amused and annoyed by her fearless demeanor.
Are my advances still not intense enough? Is that why she's not afraid of me at all? Looks like I'll need to take some nourishing food to replenish my energy.
Meanwhile, in the study of a countryside castle, Kurt lounged comfortably on the couch, savoring a glass of chilled wine in his hand.
A young woman prostrated beneath his feet.
She was none other than Eunice.
Now that Broderick and his son had been caught and the Rogers family had completely collapsed, Eunice no longer held any value to Kurt.
He snorted, “Weren't you quite arrogant just a few days ago? Now that you've lost your support, you've become so timid. Look at how cheap you are. What makes you think I would spare your life?”
Eunice couldn't help but shudder in fear, her strong will to survive constantly reminding her that she must find a way to escape his grasp. She felt she had no other choice.
“I understand the art of perfume blending, and I still have value. Keep me around; there will come a day when I'll prove useful,” she said.
“Perfume blending?” Kurt scoffed. “Perfumers like you are a dime a dozen. What makes you think that this skill of yours could possibly interest me?”
Eunice's face turned pale, and she had a growing sense that the Grim Reaper was steadily closing in on her.
As she noticed him gradually losing patience, her mind worked tirelessly, seeking a way out.
Just as he was about to order his bodyguards to drag her away and feed her to the dogs, she suddenly spoke up. “Mr. White, I know you're planning to make a deal with Cameron, but you're deeply in love with Ms. Blaze, and you can't bear to hand her over. Why don't you hire a disguise master to transform me into the likeness of Ms. Blaze? When the time comes for you to negotiate with them, hand me over to them. I have a score to settle with Catherine and Bailey. Once I infiltrate their residence, I'll seize the opportunity to kill them.”
A sharp glint flashed in Kurt's eyes.
This is a great idea! Turning this woman into Blaze not only allows me to get the White family's seal from Cameron but also plants an ambush in Bailey's household. It's like killing two birds with one stone.
With that thought, he slowly leaned down and grasped Eunice's chin. “Are you really willing to infiltrate their ranks on behalf of Blaze?”
Eunice nodded, her heart leaping with joy when she could tell he was interested in her suggestion. “Yes! Catherine and Bailey have ruined my family. Even if it means death, I want to bring them down with me.”
Kurt extended his other hand, gently patting her face a few times, and sneered. “Very well. Your proposal has indeed showcased your usefulness. For the time being, I won't end your life. Once the disguise master arrives, you must cooperate without hesitation. If not, I'll make your life a living nightmare.”
“Yes, I understand.”
