Chapter 1065 Getting Married
Inside the penthouse suite of a five-star hotel, Karina had prepared a table full of dishes, but as the sky
turned completely dark, Sylvester had yet to return.
She casually picked up the phone from the coffee table, ready to give him a call.
Just as it was unlocked, a number suddenly popped up on the screen.
It was a call from her mother, Isabelle Strasson.
“Hey, Mom. What's up? Why are you looking for me?” Karina asked.
Isabelle laughed and teased, “Can't I look for you if there's nothing wrong? I heard that you and
Sylvester have already... Has he proposed to you yet?”
Karina remained silent.
She didn't want to discuss the topic.
Everything that happened the night before was all part of her meticulous plan.
They didn't just happen to get together.
Every time someone brought it up, she felt an immense mockery, as if they were slapping her face
repeatedly.
A dream, as splendid as it was hollow, where everyone was intoxicated, but she alone was sober, fully
aware of how ludicrous it all was.
Isabelle knew her daughter well. Seeing that she was unwilling to talk, Isabelle didn't press further and
changed the subject. “How are things going between you and Bailey?”
Karina still remained silent.
She also didn't want to discuss that topic.
In Bailey's view, she was not worthy to be her friend. So, no matter how hard she tried, she could only
meet Bailey's cold indifference.
She was the daughter of the Smith family, the most prominent family in South East Aploth. Wherever
she went, she was treated like a star. Yet, for some reason, she just couldn't get along with Bailey.
She thought Bailey didn't want to befriend her, so she figured she also wouldn't want to befriend Bailey.
What's with Bailey's attitude?
Upon seeing that Karina still remained silent, Isabelle belatedly realized that she had once again asked
a question that annoyed her daughter.
However, this time around, she didn't give up and continued, “Your granny called me, saying that
whether Strassonian embroidery can gain international fame or not, it all depends on Bailey now.
Karrie, you must not act recklessly. You must get along well with Bailey. We need her to support the
Strasson family and suppress the Yrina family. Just the Smith family alone is not enough to put your
mind completely at ease. If the Strasson family rises, it will be your greatest support in securing your
position in the Hollett family. Do you understand?”
Karina took a deep breath and told Isabelle about her arrangement with Bailey and Rainie.
“Mom, Rainie has taken the initiative and gained Bailey's trust. How can I turn the situation around?” NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Karina asked.
Isabelle gritted her teeth fiercely, anger seeping through her words when she said, “It's Rainie again!
First, he stole my ideal son-in-law, and now he's ruining my plans. He really deserves to die! People
still don't know about the despicable things she did over a month ago, right? If word gets out, do you
think she'll still be able to hold her ground in Hallsbay?”
Karina guessed what her mother planned to do and quickly said, “No. If that gets out, my image as the
first crush in Sylvester's heart will be ruined in an instant.”
Isabelle scoffed. “Of course, I'm not foolish enough to do that myself. Rest assured, leave this matter to
me. All you need to do is wait for that Oscar-winning actress to fall from grace.”
Naturally, Karina didn't want to miss the golden opportunity to tarnish Rainie's reputation forever. She
also believed that her mother would never leave any loose ends when handling matters.
“All right. Be careful, then. Make sure you don't leave any traces behind,” Karina advised.
“Okay. You should also think of ways to get closer to Bailey. Let her lend a hand to the Strasson family.
Once the Strasson family rises, it will be all benefits and no harm to you.”
“All right.”
Just after hanging up the phone, a sudden noise came from the entrance hall.
She instinctively looked toward the door, seeing Sylvester changing his shoes.
When he lifted his gaze, their eyes met.
He furrowed his brows and asked, “How did you get into my room?”
Karina was taken aback. Does this man really need to be so indifferent? We just spent the night
together. Shouldn't we be the closest people in the world?
“When they brought me back, I came into your suite. I said I would make dinner for you. Did you forget
about that?” she asked.
Sylvester rubbed his brows. Did she say that? Why can't I remember? If I had known, I wouldn't have
come back.
“I had some alcohol just now. I must've forgotten about it. It's already dark outside. You should return to
your suite. Tomorrow, I'll arrange for someone to escort you back to the Smith residence,” he
answered.
Karina's heart wrenched in pain when she heard that. After that, she just gazed at him dazedly.
Gradually, her eyes filled with tears, some of which had already rolled down from the corners of her
eyes.
“Sylvester, did I do something wrong? Should I not have come to Hallsbay with you? Did I interfere with
your relationship with Rainie?”
Every time Karina spoke, she blinked, and with each blink, a tear would slide down from the corners of
her eyes. It was a heartbreaking sight.
Sylvester couldn't stand to see her like that. He exclaimed, “It's not your fault. Stop blaming yourself
and crying. It was my inability to control my own rage that led to a grave mistake, causing harm to the
unborn child in Rainie's womb, and pushing us both into an abyss of despair.”
As soon as those words fell, a glint of brilliance flashed in Karina's eyes. Has Rainie already lost the
illegitimate child she was carrying? Well, it seems like even the heavens are helping me. That child was
killed by Sylvester himself. Their relationship has reached a dead end, and there's no chance of getting
back together.
“W-What? The child is gone? Could it be because you hit her with a glass this morning—”
“Shut up!” roared Horace, suppressing his rage.
He was deeply saddened by it, and it was causing him so much pain that it was making it hard for him
to breathe. Due to my mistake, she grew to despise me. She even refused to ever see me again in the
future.
“S-Sylvester, I'm sorry.” Karina looked at him pitifully, her eyes filled with grievance.
Sylvester took a deep breath and replied in a hoarse voice, “I apologize. I lost my composure. Please,
do as you wish. I'm going back to my room to rest.”
After saying that, he stumbled into the room.
Karina watched his desolate figure receding, her fingers hanging by her side slowly clenched into a fist.
I'm gradually achieving my goals. I firmly believe that I'll have the last laugh. That's surely going to
happen!
With that thought in mind, she picked up her phone again, scrolled through her contacts, and dialed a
number.
After the call connected successfully, she was the first to say, “Melanie, see you at Palm Top Cafe in
half an hour.”
Meanwhile, inside the living room in the Shurmer residence, a woman dressed in a white embroidered
long dress stood before a screen, quietly gazing at the pattern sketched upon it.
That woman was Zara Yrina, Yrina's fourth disciple. She had dedicated half of her life to promoting
Yrinasion embroidery.
When Bailey walked in, she smiled silently.
Women from the Yrina family possessed an ethereal elegance that set them apart from the ordinary.
Unlike the Strasson family, blinded by power, they had long lost the depth that came with the passage
of time.
The simple and unadorned craft had been passed down for thousands of years. One could only
become virtuous by achieving something through righteous methods.
“Zara, it's been a long time,” Bailey greeted.
The woman standing quietly in the gentle breeze slowly turned around, her flowing long hair rippling
with the evening wind that blew in.
Her gaze fell upon Bailey's face, a faint mist of emotion welling up in her eyes.
With a smile, Bailey walked up to her, wrapping her arms around her. Teasingly, she said, “What I can't
stand the most are the tears of a beauty. Please don't cry. If you cry too much and get wrinkles, you
won't be pretty anymore.”
Zara slowly reached out and embraced Bailey, chokingly saying, “It's been a long time. I'm quite
moved. Bailey, have you been well these years?”
Bailey laughed and said, “I'm doing great. In fact, I'm about to get married, and I'm inviting you over for
the wedding banquet.”
