Chapter 1051 Making A Scene
Artemis could hear the thick dissatisfaction in his wife's tone.
He certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to refuse. He quickly made some assurances, “Don't worry,
Justin won't be able to leave Hallsbay.”
Indeed, Justin couldn't leave Hallsbay.
It was because Bill requested the flight to take off ahead of time.
By the time Justin arrived at the airport, there was nothing he could do.
Then, he received a text message from Bill: If you still want your wife and children, then stay put in
Hallsbay and sort out the matters there. I'll take Vero to the royal family to stay with her sister for a
while. If you decide to follow, I'm afraid Scarlett may go crazy and bite people. It won't be good if she
offends the king and queen.
Even though Justin was filled with reluctance, he dared not advance any further. Dad's right. If I
recklessly continue with my pursuit and end up angering Scarlett, who knows what disgusting things
that woman may do? I guess I'll stay in Hallsbay and put an end to that matter once and for all.
When he received a call from Artemis and was blackmailed by the latter, he was so angry that he
smashed his phone.
The next afternoon, Artemis secretly went to the Zaewora.
After seeing Artemis off, Bailey was finally free, completely letting herself go.
Seeing that as though a weight had been lifted off her shoulders, Zeke chuckled. “Don't tell me you
miss him and want to meet him after two days.”
Bailey rolled her eyes. Then, she was about to head back to her place for a nap, planning to take
Rainie and Juliana out for a fun night later. Suddenly, the maid approached her with a report,
announcing that one Ms. Smith had come to visit.
She pondered for quite a while before she finally figured out who Ms. Smith was. I bet it's that two-
faced woman Sylvester brought over. Interesting. Even though I made herself perfectly clear last night,
that woman has the audacity to keep pushing. It seems her obsession with Sylvester runs deep. Would Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
such a scheming woman like her really give up the man she's loved for years for Rainie's sake? I doubt
it. She's probably taking drastic action and applying the door-in-the-face technique. Once Rainie lets
her guard down, Karina will deliver the fatal blow. After the incident, no one would suspect her. She
managed to extricate herself completely. It seems she's a woman of stature, certainly stronger than
most who would throw themselves at Artemis upon sight.
“If you don't wish to meet her, I can have the butler reject her on your behalf.” Zeke spoke, his voice
echoed in her ears, pulling her back from her wandering thoughts.
Bailey smiled. “Turning guests away is not the Shurmer family's way of hospitality. Since they've come,
let's meet them. Just don't tell Rainie about it.”
After she finished speaking, she strode toward the courtyard, saying as she walked, “Have the
gatekeeper lead her to the reception hall in the front yard.”
“All right.”
After being led into the living room by the security guard, Karina curiously asked the housekeeper
standing nearby a question. “I heard that the famous actress, Ms. Yeanisky, has been staying at the
Shurmer residence these past few days. Do you know what she's busy with?”
The maid nodded and said, “Ms. Yeanisky is currently having afternoon tea with Mrs. Luther.”
Seeing that the housekeeper was easy to talk to, Karina quickly asked, “Where are they doing so?
Could you take me to meet her?”
The housekeeper remained silent, looking up at her with an indifferent expression on her face.
Realizing she had become a bit too excited, Karina coughed lightly and said with an awkward smile,
“Don't get me wrong. Rainie and I are friends. So, when I heard she's at the Shurmer residence, I
wanted to see her.”
Just as the housekeeper was about to speak, a teasing voice suddenly came from outside the door.
“It seems that you're here to meet Rainie, not me. However, Rainie is a guest of the Shurmer family, so
it's not appropriate for us to bring you to her. If you really want to meet her, you may as well ask her
out.” Upon ending her sentence, Bailey turned around, ready to leave.
Karina was taken aback for a moment, then quickly stood up from the couch. “No, no, I didn't come
looking for Rainie. I came looking for you. I just heard that Rainie was here, so I asked a couple more
questions.”
Bailey looked at the woman standing in front of her with a smirk. “You and I are strangers, Ms. Smith.
Does it seem too odd for you to visit me? Tell me, what brings you to me? If it's just for a chat, I'm afraid
I can't accompany you. I'm busy preparing for my own wedding.”
Karina didn't expect Bailey to be so cold and unapproachable. The latter wouldn't even give the former
a chance to sit down and chat.
Indeed, Karina came to chat with Bailey, hoping to relieve the tension between them.
Yet, Bailey plainly stated she was not up for a chat. Thus, if Karina were to continue talking, she'd
probably be kicked out.
If that happened, their relationship would be completely ruined.
Bailey wasn't afraid of that outcome, but Karina was.
Sylvester had several brothers, all of whom had women in their lives. Moreover, those women generally
get along well with Bailey.
If Karina didn't make a good impression on Bailey, it might be difficult for the former to fit into
Sylvester's social circle in the future.
Planning a wedding? Karina’s eyes lit up. I've got an idea. “I am here for your wedding matters, Ms.
Jefferson.”
Bailey raised an eyebrow, smiling coldly.
Earlier, she clearly saw panic flashing past Karina's eyes.
Karina was unable to continue the conversation, yet, in the next moment, she suddenly said that. Truly,
she was a schemer.
“What does my marriage have to do with you?” asked Bailey.
Karina chuckled. “I know the Shurmer family has invited the embroiderers from Strassonian embroidery
to Hallsbay to sew your wedding dress. Ms. Jefferson, what you may not know is that my mother hails
from Strassonian embroidery. Additionally, she is, in fact, the legitimate daughter of the Strasson family.
As such, I've learned about embroidery from her since childhood. If we're talking about Strassonian
embroidery, the most excellent embroiderer of my generation in my family was my cousin, Melanie. I
heard she was invited to Hallsbay. Ms. Jefferson, it just so happens that I've been thinking about
making friends with you. Why don't I take the initiative and help you? That way, we can all know each
other better.”
Bailey blinked. How could I have forgotten about that?
A couple of days ago, while investigating Karina, Bailey discovered that Karina's mother hailed from the
Strasson family.
Of course, Bailey wouldn't tell Karina about that.
It would taint her reputation if others found out she was looking into other people's family backgrounds.
“I see. I was unaware of that fact. Since you are the granddaughter of Strassonian embroidery, we can
indeed chat. Come, follow me,” said Bailey.
Karina breathed a sigh of relief as she walked into the reception room.
After they sat down, they chatted intermittently for a while.
They were all cautious, skilled individuals. Thus, they were careful not to reveal any weaknesses.
Bailey was surprised. No wonder Rainie ended up in her current predicament going against someone
like Karina.
“Ms. Jefferson, we've gotten to know each other quite well now, and I consider us friends. Would it be
alright if I call you Bay?” inquired Karina.
Just as Bailey was about to speak, a respectful voice reported, “Ms. Bailey, there's a commotion
outside the mansion. A gentleman claiming to be the scion of the Hollet family has arrived, requesting
to meet Ms. Yeanisky. He's inviting you to meet him at the front courtyard entrance.”
The scion of the Hollet family? It probably isn't Sylvester. If it were him, he would have said so. Besides
him, which other scion of the Hollet family would come to visit the Shurmer residence? That leaves only
Mason, the man who entangled with Rainie over a month ago. What is he doing here? Could it be... At
the thought of a certain possibility, Bailey's eyes suddenly darkened.
