Chapter 373.1 The Unique Imogen I
In a daze, Imogen woke up and opened her eyes. She stared at the white ceiling above and felt lost for a while.
Recalling what happened before her coma, her tears welled up unknowingly and slid down her cheeks. She felt so distressed that she couldn’t even breathe.
How she wished it had been only a dream! When she had woken up from the dream, Irene had never been to New York City. She had still been Ignacio’s daughter.
“Imogen, don’t cry.” A big hand stretched out, and its slender fingers gently wiped away the tears. from the corners of her eyes. “The doctor said that you should keep your mind calm. Otherwise, it may be harmful to your health.”
Imogen’s eyes slowly fell on the person before her, and she swallowed up a mouthful of air. She said in a choked voice, “Troy.”
“Yeah, I’m here.”
Troy pushed her back, gently helped her up, and stuffed a pillow behind her back.
Imogen hugged him and rested her head on his shoulder. She shed tears and said in a crying voice, “Troy, I am not my father’s child. I am a bastard kid…”
Troy felt like being suffocated. Looking at Imogen’s red and swollen eyes, he felt as though needles had been pricking his heart.
He wrapped his arms around Imogen, patted her on the shoulder, and comforted her, “Imogen, you are not a bastard child. You are yourself, the unique Imogen.”
Such words couldn’t appease Imogen at all.
Troy understood that Imogen’s situation was different from his. Thomas and he had never met since he was a child. He had little attachment to Thomas.
When he learned that he was not Thomas‘ child, but the child of Emily and Walter’s, he could still keep his composure. Perhaps this was related to his personality.
Yet, Imogen and Ignacio were different.
After Imogen’s grandparents passed away, Ignacio was Imogen’s only relative. Her childhood experiences made Imogen particularly dependent on her father. What’s more, Ignacio was widely praised for his persistence in justice and his efforts in exposing the darkness of the sphere of business. Imogen had always admired his father. During their car accident, Ignacio even gave up the chance of survival to Imogen, vividly displaying his love as a father to his daughter.
Now that she was abruptly told that she was not Ignacio’s child and her biological father was actually a playboy who planted the seed of her while fooling around, coupled with her sensitive personality, Imogen naturally was unable to accept the fact.
Imogen was still sobbing and out of breath. “I feel so painful… I shouldn’t have been born. If so, my father wouldn’t have died.”
“Imogen, don’t say that.” Troy hugged her tightly. “The death of your father has nothing to do with you. The murderer who killed your father has not been brought to justice. You should cheer up
and make an effort to avenge his death. NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.
“Sometimes, blood relationship is not as important as you think. Since Ignacio raised you, then he is your father.”
“But… I feel really sad…” Imogen sobbed.

Troy patted her on the shoulder lightly. “Don’t be silly. Just think about it. Your father fought to save you because he hopes you can live a good life without being troubled by such petty things. Otherwise, you will fall into Irene’s trap.”
Imogen said pessimistically, “The one he thought he saved was his own daughter. If he knew that I was not her daughter, would he hate me and regret saving me?”
This was an unanswerable answer.
Troy knew that she was splitting her hair. Thus, he smoothed the wrinkles between her eyebrows with his fingers, wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, and calmly explained to her, “I’m not your father, so I can’t know what choice he would have made. But, in my view, in light of your father’s temperament, even if he had known that you are not her daughter, he would still
save you…
“Besides, this is a thing of the past. No matter what, at least at the moment of his death, you were his daughter and he wanted you to survive.”
