Mrs. Fant was surprised to see me so happy. “Lily, you look radiant. Did you win the lottery?”
“It’s better than that.” I smiled. “Mrs. Fant, please prepare more food tonight.”
“No problem.”
Afterwards, I went back to my room and put my headphones on while humming happily. Immersed in
my music, I didn’t even notice that my dad had come home, I didn’t even notice that Mrs. Fant knocked
on my door. Shortly after, she entered. “Lily, Mr. Hawkins asked you to meet him at the office.”
“Dad’s back? Alright, I’ll be there.”
I walked into the office only to see my dad looking somber while I was still smiling. “What’s wrong,
dad? Did something happen?”
My father sighed. “Sit down, Lily. I need to ask you something.”
I sat across from him. “What is the problem? You look serious.”
“Do you know about the financial situation of Carson’s company?” my father asked.
This was the first time he mentioned Carson before me, and also about his company’s operations. I felt
nervous. “Why are you asking, Dad?”
“Just answer me.”
“You know how lazy I am. I don’t care about those things.”
“I knew.” He sighed again.
“Did something happen, dad?”
“Mr. Williamson at the commercial bank called me and said that Carson asked him for a big loan. He
couldn’t approve everything himself, so he asked me about it.”
“But that’s Carson’s problem. Why is he inviting you? Does he have nothing better to do?”
“You silly girl. Because you are my daughter. If Carson is in trouble, then so are you.”
I was surprised. Bankrupting Carson was what I was worried about right now, so I didn’t think much
about that problem. “AND?”
“So I sent someone to investigate this and found that he had stocked up on a lot of raw
materials. Because of the market, these materials are very volatile. They can plummet in the blink of an
eye. Do you have any idea how risky this is? , Lilian?”
“Perhaps he has his own goal, father, so don’t worry about that. After all, he is not an amateur. I mean,
he made his company grow a lot in a short time. He’s talented, so he’ll handle it.”

world now, not with how powerful his competitors are.”
