Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 949

Chapter 949:

“Impossible! If it had nothing to do with us, you wouldn’t be asking about the Byrd family’s relationship with our family in the first place!”

She jumped to her feet and started pacing, her hands on her hips.

“I know what that old witch is up to! She wants to get me in an early grave, but I’ll outlive her! I’ll—”

“Grandma!” Eileen interjected.noveldrama

“That’s not what I meant at all! Conroy has been causing trouble with the family, creating issues with the company. That’s why I asked you about the Byrd family. But it’s all sorted out now, and the Byrd family gave us some information.”

If she didn’t come clean now, Eileen believed Leyla would probably storm the Byrd family mansion and give that old woman a piece of her mind.

She left out the part about the Aston family’s involvement in all of this.

Leyla wasn’t too bothered now, knowing her reputation was intact and the matter had been resolved easily.

“He’s just a pawn. The real threat is Gianna. That woman has learned a lot from the Vazquez family. She’s cunning. She played me like a fool before; I was in the dark about her kid with Conroy for so long.”

“You’re right.” Eileen had already figured that out. Conroy probably hadn’t known about the Byrd family’s relationship with the Aston family, which led to the mess.

Now, Conroy was just Gianna’s tool. Eileen knew she needed a plan to take him down and leave Gianna without her leverage. Just then, Eileen’s phone rang. It was Raymond calling.

“Ms. Curtis, Mr. Dawson said Conroy wants to talk about fixing this mess. He is willing to give all his money to the workers to pay them back. If it’s not enough, he’ll gather the rest in two weeks. He’s begging for a chance.”

“No way,” Eileen replied, without hesitation.

Raymond paused for a moment before saying, “Mr. Dawson told me the same. He just asked if you want to give him a harsher sentence.”

Eileen thought about it for a moment and then said, “As long as he pays back the money, let the judge decide his sentence.”

Even with a regular sentence, and even if Conroy somehow managed to avoid prison, he wouldn’t be able to come back from this. He wouldn’t be able to turn the tables.

Raymond hung up the call and instructed the lawyer to present the evidence to the court, letting the legal system do its job.

While waiting for the procedure to unfold, Eileen visited Dalores at the hospital a few times. Dalores wasn’t looking too good—she appeared pale, juggling work, taking care of Emerson, and… She mentioned she went home every night and didn’t return until late the next day.

Emerson needed chemo and had to stay in the sterile ward. Dalores hesitated but eventually chose to let the caregiver accompany Emerson into the sterile ward.

The thought of not seeing Emerson for days broke her heart, and she couldn’t hold back the tears.

After recording some videos for the online sessions, Dalores went to the bathroom, washed her face, and put on some makeup. Then, she headed straight to Julia’s place.
