“Please stop sleeping in the same bed with me,” Eileen said firmly. The sad expression on her face disappeared instantly. She quickly wrapped herself in the thin quilt and hurried toward the bathroom, but the next second, Bryan lifted her up and pressed her against the wall, holding her close to his chest.

“So, were you lying to me?” he asked.

His breath was warm against her face, making her ears flush red. She turned her head away and snorted, saying, “You took advantage of me when I was drunk!”

“Eileen, you’re my wife. It’s completely normal for us to be intimate. Even if you went to the police, they wouldn’t do anything about it,” Bryan said, deciding it was time to have this conversation. “Even my aunt could have a baby with her brother-in-law, so it’s hardly shocking that I’m out for a walk with my husband,” Eileen said, releasing Bryan’s hand. She raised an eyebrow and smirked. “I see you’ve finally got some cash and are living it up, huh?”
